Dear colleagues

The SGIP-SSPI is proud to announce the first Symposium on Interventional Psychiatry. Interventional Psychiatry covers the applica-tion of newer, mainly electrical methods for the treatment of psychiatric disorders, namely affective disorders and positive as well as negative symptoms in schizophrenia. The currently most used methods are elec-tro convulsion therapy (ECT), transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) and transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS). However, in some cases, even deep brain stimulation (DBS) can be the method of choice. In particular, this symposium shall draw the attention of our young colleagues in training to the upcoming and growing field of Inter-ventional Psychiatry. Therefore, the sympo-sium can be part of the post-graduate train-ing in the field of Interventional Psychiatry. Further, we aim to reach those psychiatrists in private practice who want to learn about the currently applied routine interventions and future perspectives emerging from sci-entific laboratories. Finally, we welcome young Swiss scientists to tell us what is hap-pening in their laboratories today, and what might be used tomorrow.

Inaugural Symposium SGIP-SSPI and General Assembly 2020

The symposium program will cover all rele-vant areas of the currently used methods in the most common clinical indications. National and international experts will share their knowledge. Beyond the science, the symposium offers the opportunity to get to know the SGIP- SSPI and the people behind. You will have ample opportunities to inform yourself, to exchange, to network and socialize. And the end of the afternoon will certainly offer the opportunity to have a good time together.

With this in mind, I am looking forward to your participation and to welcoming you personally on May 28th, 2020 here in Bern.
