The first mechanised washing was developed in UK and the first machine was a big rotating drum driven by an engine through a flat belt .

The drying was by squeezing the cloths by passing them through the two rotating wooden shafts .

This concept was further developed in to the today’s front load washing machine .

The top load washing machine was also conceptualized in Europe but was further developed by Japan to today’s form .

There are basically three types of washing machines available in the market . These are

1– Front loading /top loading tumble wash

2- Top loading Pulsator wash

3- Top loading agitator wash .

1. MECHANICAL ACTIONWashing machine provides the movement of the clothes in the washtub and the flow of water through them. Variation in mechanical actions is

primarily controlled by the wash action (Heavy, Normal, Gentle), Pulsator speed, proper machine loads and correct water levels. However too much

mechanical action will damage the clothes.

2. CHEMICAL ACTIONDetergent type and quantity used have a key role in penetrating the oil-water interface, allowing mechanical action to free the loosened dirt clothes.

3. WATER TEMPERATUREIncreased water temperature increases the chemical activity of the detergent. However, water temperature above 45C will damage certain type of fabrics.

4. WASH DURATIONDepends upon the above three. Increased wash duration will result in clothes damage.

Washing does not happen without Mechanical action. Regardless of detergent concentration, water temperature and wash time, dirt won’t be removed from the clothes until mechanical action is applied in the presence of water allowing loosened dirt to be removed by dilution.

The four factors share the total pie chart (refer the figure). If anyone factor is reduced, one or more of the others must be increased in order to achieve the satisfactory wash quality. In addition increasing any one or all of the individual factors can increase wash quality. Excessively reducing any one of the four factors can harm wash quality. But increasing a factor beyond the optimum level will not produce the improvement at the same time it will damage the clothes. Hence it is important to optimize the four factors.

-This program is suitable for clothes that are normally worn for a short time such as

sportswear. It is used to quickly wash a small amount of cotton/synthetic blended

clothes.

Rinse Hold (6 Kg Model)

- This program is used when we do not want to remove the clothes immediately after washing. With this option clothes will remain in water used for last rinsing and your clothes will be prevented from wrinkles.

- To spin clothes use Start / Pause / Cancel button.

Pre Wash (5/6/7 Kg Model)

- Pre-wash is only worthwhile for heavy soiled only

- Without pre-wash you can save energy, water ,detergent and time

- Pre-wash without detergent is recommended for lace & curtains

Rinse Plus (5/6/7 Kg Model)

-The number of current rinsing steps can be increased .So that risk of being

affected by the remainder detergent on the clothes will be decreased.

-The loading door can not be opened yet due to safety reasons while the “Ready”

lamp is flashing. The loading door can be opened once the “Ready” lamp starts

lighting up continuously
