Flussgebietseinheit – Oblast povodí – R.B.D. (Labe/Elbe):
Main unit for management of river basins
WB – a coherent subunit in the RBD to which the environmental objectives must apply.
Main purpose of identifying WBs is to enable the status to be accurately described and compared to Objectives.

covering 95% of river WBs.

Good WB status upstream = an important condition for
good WB status downstream
