Taylor looked at his calendar . It was Tuesday. But it was not just any normal

Tuesday, though. The circled date on the calendar meant that it was a scarlet day . A day

that had been engraved in his mind, a day he could never forget even if he tried .

"Ahh, its our anniversary." Taylor smiled as he lifted a framed picture of a woman

beside the calendar.Taylor started to remember when and where that picture was taken. She was wearing a pair of white shorts . She wore Taylor's long-sleeved shirt,

unbuttoned, and a knot tied on her abdomen that kept the shirt together. She wore a wide

brimmed beach hat as she smiled in its shade. It was five years ago, or was it six? No, itwas definitely five years ago. They went to the beach that day . It was also during their

anniversary. It was a time when love constantly filled their veins, and the promises they

have made to each other brought both of them hope. A hope to be together, till death do

    they part.

"Riley, are you dressed yet sweetheart ? We have to pick up some flowers for mommy."

Taylor called out to his four-year-old daughter who was upstairs in her room. Just a few

moments later, Riley got out of her room and walked down the stairs towards her father.Taylor noticed that her hair was in quite a mess.

"Honey, whats the matter?" Taylor brushed his fingers through Riley's blond hair.

"Can you do my hair for me, daddy?" Riley pleaded her father. She handed him a rubber

    band.

"Hey, sure thing kid. You don't wanna look like this when we see mommy later now,

would you?" Taylor winked at her while he tied Riley's hair up in a simple ponytail."There, all set."

Taylor and Riley walked hand-in-hand towards a florist across the street wherethey lived. Sandra, the florist was busy spraying the flowers with a hand-held water

spray. An array of brightly coloured flowers that were neatly arranged around the shop

premises created an atmosphere like no other. The door bell rang as Taylor and Rileyswung the door open. Sandra stopped spraying the flowers as she saw them enter the

    shop.

"Good morning Mr. Davis! I got your flowers that you ordered right here. Twobouquets of white daisies, right?" the florist greeted Taylor with a bright smile. Sandra

recognised him very well. Taylor Davis had been coming to her for flowers quite

frequently, and he always bought the same type of flower- Daisies.

"You don't wanna try red roses this time, Mr. Davis?" Sandra asks, she was certain

that exotic red roses would do a better job at impressing a woman than just plain daisies. At least, that's what she would like to receive from the love of her life .If she had one,

    that is.

"No, daisies are fine." Taylor replied with a smile.

"Are you sure? Roses make a bold statement sir." Sandra tried to convince Taylor.

"Daisies are her favourite." Taylor said to her. Sandra still remembers this particular

conversation that happened a few years ago. She has been supplying Taylor with dozens

    of daisies ever since.

Sandra hands two bouquets to Taylor. They weren't big and extravagant bouquets.

They were modest, medium sized ones. He looks at the flowers, then turns his head toRiley who was distracted by bright-yellow daffodils near the window sill. "Taylor, come

here for a second." Riley turned away from the daffodils and went to her father. Taylor

hands her a bouquet, picked out a daisy and placed it behind Riley's ear. "Perfect."

"Thank you so much Sandra, these are perfect. I'll see you next year okay." Taylor held

Riley's hand and walked out of the flower shop.

They continued walking with flowers in their hands until they reached a cemeterynear the park. Taylor glanced over to Riley. "Are you ready?" Riley just nodded her head.

A cheerful and bubbly Riley suddenly turned quiet. She knew too well where they were.Taylor tightened his grip a little as he held Riley's little hand. They walked along a path

past tombstones of many forms, many of them made from granite. They stopped when

they reached a small tombstone that was far too familiar to the both of them.

    SARAH DAVIS

    1978-2007BELOVED WIFE OF TAYLOR DAVIS

    BELOVED MOTHER OF RILEY DAVIS

    CANCER SURVIVOR

Taylor and Riley placed the the daisies on the ground in front of the tombstone.

They brushed off dry leaves that were on the grave .Taylor felt the carvings on thetombstone with his fingers. "We missed you." Taylor said, as if he was having a

conversation with his beloved wife. Suddenly, a tear rolled down his left cheek.

"Actually, you're the one who missed out a lot ." Taylor said. He laughed a little. He

glanced over to Riley."I wish you could have seen how much Riley has grown since youleft. She looks just like you. In fact, I think she's a tad bit prettier." Taylor smiled as he

looked at Riley's blue eyes. He felt nostalgic. Those eyes reminded him of the sparkle he

saw in Sarah's eyes .He lets out a long sigh.

    "Happy anniversary, my dear."
