Auper flow meters were specifically designed to be used in draft beer.The internal diameter and the design of the passageway allow draft beer and other beverages to circulate normally, without cavitation thatcan cause foaming. The materials used in the fabrication have beenselected to resist to many years of exposure to the strong chemicalsused to clean beer tubing without damage or wear. Proudly made byhand in Canada, the different flow meter models are calibrated to obtain a maximum sensitivity with the least pressure drop dependingon the flow rate and viscosity of the products.

The flow meters used with the Auper control systems are analog withtwo wires. They do not require any power and cannot be damaged ifthe wires are inverted or short circuited or, if the flow meter is splashed by beer or water. There are no connectors to corrode.The cable provided is long enough to reach the flow meter collectorboxes provided with Auper systems to simply installation and cableinstallation.

A digital version of the flow meter is available for voltages from 5 to 24 volts DC for OEM application.

Applications

Draught beer

The 50-316-C flow meters are normally used in beer lines worldwide. The typical flow rate being 2 Oz/sec or 60 ml/sec. Theyare usually mounted in the storage room above the kegs. FOB detectors (also called empty keg detectors) are recommended for long beer lines. The FOB should be mounted betweenthe keg and the flow meter. The fob will stop foam or gas rushing up the line when a keg is empty from reaching the flow meter.

Pre-Mix: One flow meter per line is necessary.

Post-Mix: On post-Mix dispensers, you can measure the syrups and/or the carbonated water. Installing one flow meter onto thecarbonated water line (soda), will provide a total of beverages served for the dispenser as long as all the flavours have the same brix ratio (mix of syrup and soda).To measure the quantity of each flavor dispensed, you will need to install one flow meter on each of the syrup lines. For this application it is necessary to use flow meter model number 50-332 .

Barbed fittings are specified using the inside diameter of the tubing the flow meter will be inserted into. For example, we specify a barbed adapter for 3/8 ( 9.5mm) ID tubing or for 3/16 (4.75 mm) ID tubing. These fittings are clamped on to seal the joint usingSS hose clamps or Oetiker clamps. For applications in carbonated water, soft drink, liquor and draft wine, use stainless steel tailpieces only or John Guest adapters. Use chrome plated tailpieces for draft beer only.

John Guest fittings (DM) are push-in fittings that seal on the outside of the tubing. The JG fittings are therefore specified usingthe outside diameter of the tubing. Available JG fittings for tubing: ½” OD X 3/8” ID and 3/8” OD X ¼” ID. The rubber washer is included with John Guest fittings.

Check valve ( Part: 3/8SCV or 1/2SCV-BF)

Check valves should be installed before the flow meters on teed lines or manifolds. The check valve will prevent unwantedpressure drops caused by one of the other taps being used. Check valves are available for 3/8 OD tubingand 1/2 OD tubing.
