This flow chart should be followed in consultation with the qualification document.
QM Course.
This is a law based course that is run by Queen Mary, University of London that should commence in September each year and will be held
over one academic year.
The Full QM course comprises 4 modules
(I) Foundations of Law for Trade Mark Practice(II) Trade Mark Law A (Basic)(III) Designs and Copyright Law(IV) Trade Mark Law B (Advanced)
NLS Course
This is a practice based course that is run by Nottingham Law School, Nottingham Trent University. Students passing the Full QM Course would
then migrate on to the NLS Full Course. The duration of the NLS Full Course will be one academic year.
The NLS Full course comprises 3 modules with
(i) Introduction to trade mark practice and client relationship skills(ii) Litigation and tribunal practice and procedure; advocacy(iii) Professional and self-management
The NLS Intensive Course is directed to solicitors and those students that have successfully passed either T3 or T6 of the current JEB (finals)examinations. The course is of around 4 months duration.

Exemptions
The exemptions currently offered by Bournemouth, Brunel, Manchester and QM with regard to the Foundation papers of the JEB exams will
continue to apply. Passing these courses will also provide exemption from all of the Modules on the QM Full course, with the exception ofModule B.
T5* - If a student has not passed T5, then he/she may still be able to take the Intensive NLS course, subject to demonstrating that he/she hasthe requisite experience in non UK/OHIM practice matters.
Designs and Copyright
Students will need to pass the Copyright & Designs Paper under the existing JEB exams (or be exempt from that paper) in order to qualify as aRegistered Trade Mark Attorney. Students will be able to take the Designs and Copyright Law module of the QM Course as an alternative tositting the JEB paper.
