March 26, 2020 – Leslie Campione, Chairman of the Lake County Board of County Commissioners Press Release:
As of last night, 22 people in Lake County have tested positive for the COVID-19 virus, which includes one additional hospitalization for a total of six hospitalizations.
These cases are spread fairly evenly throughout Lake County, with about half being related to known travel.
Yesterday, we recommended that seniors and those who are most vulnerable stay at home and avoid all public places right now. (Continued on next slide)
March 26 Press Release continued:
It is extremely important that you assume that everyone around you has the virus and that they have just touched door handles, shopping carts and anything else you may touch.
Again, we are suggesting that seniors and those who are susceptible to illness stay at home and avoid contact with those who have been in public spaces.
Please know that you are not alone. There are volunteers and groups to help you.

FROM THE BOARD/CLUB HAWTHORNE AND MANAGEMENT – 3/25/2020We are in very extraordinary times to say the least. The unknown that we are experiencing now is unprecedented. It will take a concerted effort of all of us in Hawthorne to get through this with the least amount of damage to health as possible.
To that end, the Board, Club Hawthorne and Management have taken steps to minimize person to person contact while still providing some outlet for our frustrations. We are all in this boat together and the assistance we have received in implementing our decisions is phenomenal and very much appreciated. Clubs have stepped up and are self monitoring their areas which will allow us to keep these amenities available for a while longer. Your efforts to keep groups under ten, and individual use of the field sports area is key to the success of this process. We do work within the constraints set forth by our Governor so we have no idea how long we can continue as we are.
The Board, Club Hawthorne and Management extend a big thank you to all our members for their dedication to keeping Hawthorne safe. We are in this together, and together we will see it through.

Due to the COVID-19 situation, we are asking each household to “shelter in place”
to the maximum extent possible. Avoid ANY contact with others and curtail any
social gatherings at your home or in any other location. If you MUST go out,
please keep the “social distancing” rules in mind…a separation of 6 feet. Wash
hands thoroughly and frequently. While OUTDOOR amenities are open for
INDIVIDUAL use, they may be declared off-limits if there appears to be abuse. If
the pool remains open, keep use to well spread-out 10 users or less.

SCAMSBelow are some examples of the types of scams you should be on the lookout for:
u Emails that appear to be from organizations such as the CDC (Centers for Disease Control), or the WHO (World Health Organization). The scammers have crafted emails that appear to come from these sources, but they actually contain malicious phishing links or dangerous attachments.
u Emails that ask for charity donations for studies, doctors, or victims that have been affected by the COVD-19 Coronavirus. Scammers often create fake charity emails after global phenomena occur, like natural disasters, or health scares like the COVID-19.
u Emails that claim to have a “new” or “updated” list of cases of Coronavirus in your area. These emails could contain dangerous links and information designed to scare you into clicking on the link.
SCAMS (Continued)
Remain cautious! Always remember the following to protect yourself from scams like this:
• Never click on links or download attachments from an email that you weren’t expecting.
• If you receive a suspicious email that appears to come from an official organization such as the WHO or CDC, report the email to the official organization through their website.
• If you want to make a charitable donation, go to the charity website of your choice to submit your payment. Type the charity’s web address in your browser instead of clicking on any links in emails, or other messages.
