Layeld now provides oating solar design and installation. As the experts in pond lining and oating cover design, it made sense for us to look into oating solar. We now have three oating solar designs available.

Layeld’s three types of oating solar are; Tensioned Floating Cover Solar, Insulated Floating Cover Solar, and Open Water Floating Solar. Layeld provides full oating solar project development services including the solar and oating cover designs, procurement, installation, commissioning and maintenance.

FFloating solar takes advantage of the at open area of a pond surface to provide a clear and unobstructed solar installation. Floating solar is especially effective in areas where land for ground-mount solar is either prohibitively expensive or unavailable. Floating solar is also an effective way to add solar near electrical demand as ponds are often located next to municipal and industrial sites.

Layeld’s Open Water Floating Solar lets you install a solar array on most man-made bodies of water. A series of special oats support solar modules on an island that is anchored on the water surface. Power is brought to shore using oating conduit and converted to AC power with an inverter on the shoreline. Floats and solar modules are assembled on the shore and oated out onto the surface of the water. The island has walkways between the solar modules for maintenance. Open Water FloFloating Solar can be more efficient than ground-mount systems as the water moderates the temperature of the solar modules. In addition, Layeld offers an optional evaporation control kit that reduces water loss. Layeld’s Open Water Solar System can be installed in new or existing ponds and can be deployed into a full pond. Layeld’s Open Water Floating Solar uses the Hydrelio® oat system produced by Ciel et Terre.

Open Water Floating Solar

Layeld’s Insulated Floating Cover Solar makes it easy for you to add solar generation to Modular Insulated Cover (MIC) systems in wastewater and temperature-control applications. A specially designed solar mounting frame welds directly to the insulated cover panels to support solar modules. The solar components are added to the insulated cover panels as they are installed on the pond. Insulated Floating Solar Covers are typically oated onto full wastewater treatment ponds and are not usually designed designed for signicant water level uctuations. Insulated cover systems will provide complete evaporation and algae control, but are not designed to completely seal the surface of the pond. Insulated Floating Cover Solar systems can be installed in new construction or added to an existing pond lled with water.

Insulated Floating Cover Solar

Layeld’s Tensioned Floating Cover Solar will allow you to add solar generation to our industry-leading REVOC® oating cover systems. Using a specially designed oat and mounting frame, solar modules can be added to the center plate of a new tensioned oating cover. The tension in the cover will hold the solar array in alignment and will allow the cover to adapt to all water levels. Layeld’s Tensioned Floating Cover Solar will let you put solar on potable water reservoirs and other applications that requirequire fully-sealed oating covers. Tensioned Floating Solar Covers are installed in a clean, dry pond as part of new construction when the oating cover is installed.
