The Mathey Dearman Internal Flange Alignment Tools are designed to provide concentric alignment of the flange to the pipe, even if the inside diameter of the pipe and flange vary slightly. By following the simple instructions below, you will be able to fit up flanges very quickly and accurately using your new Dearman Flange Alignment Tool. We have designed this tool to be very durable and easy to use. One person can obtain a very accurate fit-ups of flanges without risk of injury to the operator.

Carbon Steel Stainless Steel Pipe Size In/mm D325 D325SS 4 - 6 / 102 - 152

D326 D326SS 6 – 8 / 152 - 203

D327 D327SS 8 – 14 / 203 - 356

D328 D328SS 16 – 24 / 406 - 610 The front jaw adjustment nut (smallest) adjusts the set of front jaws (furthest away from the adjustment nut). The rear Jaw adjustment nut (largest) adjusts the rear jaws (nearest to the adjustment nut). WARNING: For safety, always use some type of lifting device to support the flange (lift, sling, jackstand, etc.) The device should be suitable for the size and weight being supported to prevent dropping the flange. Failure to support the flange could result in serious injury. Fit-up Procedure: 1. Front and Rear Height Adjustment nuts with the included wrench to familiarize yourself with how the tool expands and

contracts.

2. Prepare the tool for insertion into the pipe by turning the Front Height Adjustment nut until the front jaws are expanded to a diameter slightly less than the pipe I.D.

3. Insert the tool into the open pipe and until the Front Jaws have entered the pipe to a depth of approximately 1”. Turn the

Rear Height Adjustment nut clockwise until the Rear Alignment Shoes are touching the pipe I.D. Rotate the Rear Height Adjustment nut counterclockwise 1 full turn.

4. Center the rivet in the Front Alignment Shoes on end of the pipe and rotate the Rear Height Adjustment nut clockwise

until the Rear Alignment Shoes are tight against the pipe wall. 5. Turn the Front Height Adjustment nut until the Front Alignment Shoes have made contact with the I.D. of the pipe. You

may notice the exposed portion of the swivel pads which protrude from the pipe begin to move outwardly. This is normal. This step insures that the clamp is mounted straight in the pipe.

6. Rotate the Front Height Adjustment nut counter clockwise about 3/4 of a turn.

Page 4: FLNG ALGN TOOL OPERATING INST

7. Slide the flange over the Front Alignment Shoes until it makes contact with the bevel on the end of the pipe. Turn the

Front Height Adjustment nut clockwise until the bore of the flange is in contact with the Front Alignment Shoes. If a root gap is required, utilize spacers or wedges (D271, D272 or D273) at this time (not included). You can now 2 hole level the flange. We recommend the Mathey Dearman Slide Lock Flange Pin (05-0100-000) or 2 Hole Level (D252).

8. 9. Once the flange has been leveled vertically and horizontally, tighten Front Height Adjustment nut securely. The flange

should now be aligned accurately with respect to the I.D of the flange and pipe. Proceed with tack welding in the normal manner between the Front Alignment Shoes.

9. Remove the tool before welding the root pass by turn both Height Adjustment nut counterclockwise to collapse the Front and Rear Alignment Shoes.
