Research & Development

Applications

3-Dimensional Design

All pipe connections are subjected to stress. That is why proper design must take movement, pressure, temperature, service life, materials and corrosion into consideration.

At Flexider all products are designed utilizing 3-D CAD technology to meet the stringent requirements of the Expansion Joint Manufacturer Association (EJMA) and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME).

Finite Element Method Analysis

Finite Element Method Analysis (FEM) principles enable to visualize details of each component at critical points in both the product and proposed installation.

This ensures that varying environmental conditions such as thermal and fluid expansion, along with structural integrity, are all taken into account priorto manufacturing.

Flexibility and Quality for the Global Market 3

Flexider’s product is utilized in a wide range of process applications:

• Catalytic Platformers and Reformers• Desalinization Plants• FCC• LNG• LNG Carriers• MTBE• CCR

• Petrochemical• Polypropylene/ Ethylene• Power Plants• Nuclear Plants• Steel Mills• Styrene• Others

Product Range

Rubber Expansion Joints

Rubber expansion joints are flexible connectors made from elastomers, designed to accommodate the different types of movements encountered on different types of process equipment:• Noise reduction• Vibrations isolation• Stress neutralization: axial, lateral, angular and torsional• Misalignment compensation at plant start-upsRubber expansion joints are used to transport fluids under a wide range of pressures (positive or vacuum) and temperatures.

Metal Expansion Joints

Metal expansion joints are designed to absorb axial, lateral and angular movements in any combination. They are divided in different families for different working conditions:• Axial expansion joints• Angular expansion joints• Lateral expansion joints• Universal expansion jointsMetal expansion joints can be provided with round or rectangular sections.

Fabric Expansion Joints

Fabric expansion joints are composite structures, combining different material and utilizing their combined thermal, chemical, mechanical resistance and fatigue properties in order to provide technical solutions for specific applications. They are commonly used for:• Absorbing thermal expansion• Allowing axial, lateral and angular motionFabric expansion joints can be provided in different shapes (round, rectangular or other).

Spring Hangers

Spring hangers are available in two different types which accommodate different field applications and requirements:• Constant load• Variable loadConstant load hangers are used to compensate for the vertical displacements of pipes caused by thermal variations or other stresses. Variable load hangers are utilized to support the weight of the pipe.

Flexible Hoses

Flexible hoses are designed for use in static or dynamic connections and provide the following properties:• Excellent flexibility• Pressure resistance• Corrosion resistance• Good vibration dampingHoses are available in a wide variety of configurations to meet various requirements, applications and operating conditions.

Transfer Lines

Transfer lines are utilized to move fluids over a wide range of operating temperatures. Piping utilized in transfer lines is typically made from different types of steel, dependent upon applications:• Carbon steel• Stainless steel They can be insulated with castable refractory layer or refractory blankets to maintain and preserve high operating temperatures.

On-Site Service

Flex-Shell Technology

At Flexider we understand how important operational reliability is. We assure that our designs and products provide for years of reliable service, thus minimizing unanticipated situations which result in shutdowns and additional expenses.

As experts in our field, over the years we have developed the technology which enable us to provide our Customers with the industry’s best on-site service.

Installations correctly done give efficiency through reduction in maintenance and savings in labor costs, ensuring a properly functioning and reliable product.

When it is necessary to repair or replace leaking bellows, but it is impossible to shut down or completely remove an existing unit, Flexider has the solution.

The “Flex-Shell Technology” enables to repair directly the leaking bellows without shutting down and with quick turnaround time. This permits production to continue while damaged bellows will be replaced over a series of scheduled plant shutdowns.

Flexider’s supervisors are trained to provide the best operational results while maintaining strict on-site safety.
