    Who should come? Dance Marathon is an ALL AGES event!Everyone who registers for the full event will receive: a t’shirt, event swag bag, custom water bottle, lunch, pizza party, enjoy guest performances, and you will be entered into chance to win prizes just for attending!We welcome children under 12 years, but we ask that a guardian stay on the premises.   • Beads of Courage (a 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization) will be hosting the 4th Annual Dance Marathon to raise funds to support Beads of Courage and the Center for Arts in Nursing. Through innovative, arts-in-medicine programs provided by Beads of Courage and the Center for Arts in Nursing, children coping with cancer and other serious illness have HOPE, experience JOY, and find COURAGE. Funds raised from the Dance Marathon will also help with the development and implementation of a new, innovative movement program for children coping with serious illness.

    In order for your son or daughter to participate in the10-Hour Dance Marathon we need your permission. The key elements of the Dance-Marathon are bulleted below.

    WHERE AND WHEN:Saturday, April 5, 2014 — 10am to 8pmOn-site check-in begins at 9:00 amMAC Gym, The University of Arizona Rec Center

    WHO IS ELIGIBLE:“Dancers” of all ages*Participants must raise a minimum of $60 in donations to participate.

    *Children 12 and under need parent or guardian present at event

    *17 and under require parent’s permission

    OTHER DETAILS:• Each participant is required to raise a minimum of $60 or more to participate.

    • Participants may choose to register online and make their $60 donation directly, or use the pledge forms provided to solicit support from friends and family.

    • All donations are 100% tax-deductible (tax id# 20-2721500), and Beads of Courage will send a receipt of donation for tax-related purposes.

    • Every participant will receive an event T-shirt, and event bag that includes raffle tickets, coupons and cool free stuff donated by our event sponsors.

    • There will be 10-minute rest breaks between each hour, and live performances from professional and semi-professional Tucson dance companies

    • Lunch/dinner is provided. If your son/daughter has food allergies, please have them bring their own food.

    • The Dance Marathon will conclude with a Pizza Party and Awards presentation that begins at 6:30 pm. Awards will be given for best costumes (per themed hour).

    • The Dance Marathon will be chaperoned by adults on a 1:15 adult to child ratio, and the premises will be secured for your child’s safety. Parents may leave registered children at the event and are encouraged to return to attend the Awards Ceremony that begins at 6:30pm.

  • You can fundraise! This may the first time you’ve taken part in a fundraising event. Regardless of whether you’re a fundraising rookie or a seasoned pro, any commitment can seem daunting at first. But fear not, fundraising IS easy and you CAN do it! We provide the tools and all you have to do is give them a test drive. That’s all we ask! With our resources and support we are confident you will reach the goal you commit to, and even blow right past it!

    You use Facebook to stay in touch with friends and family, to share photos, and to connect with people from your past. Why not use it to fundraise? You never know who might have a connection to the Beads of Courage mission, so Facebook is a great platform to reach your entire social network in one quick swoop. Here are our Top 5 Favorite.

    FUNDRAISING ON FACEBOOK TIPS:1. Utilize your Status: Your Facebook status is what everyone sees on their newsfeeds, so make them count. Two to three times a week, post about your fundraising or achievements thus far, making sure to always include a link back to your personal webpage.

    2. Send a Thank You: Your Facebook status can also be a great place to publicly thank individual donors. In addition to sending a personal thank you card to your sister for donating, why not thank her in your next status update - just another way to get the word out to all of your friends about what you are doing.

    3. Update your profile picture: Use the Beads of Courage logo

    4. Create a Facebook "Note": Include information on why you are participating in the Dance Marathon and how friends and family can donate. Tag up to 50 friends and get the message out to your Facebook friends!

    5. Send Direct Messages: Drop notes to old time friends, new friends, current friends, old significant others....the more the merrier!

    6. "Like" Beads of Courage on Facebook (www.facebook.com/beadsofcourage): We post lots of updates about upcoming events and fundraising tips. It's a great way to engage with the Dance Marathon community while staying tuned into what we are up to.

    FUNDRAISING ON OTHER SOCIAL MEDIA TIPS:1. LinkedIn: Message clients and colleagues you are linked with and see if they can donated $13 or $26 (dollar or two per hour) for your cause. This will most likely hit an entire different audience than your facebook friends!

    2. Twitter: Tweet, Tweet, Tweet....Retweet our posts. Tweet about patient stories, tweet your donation page and ask for help. Update your followers on how close you are to your goal!

    3. Blogging: If you are a blogger with followers, than great! If not, don't worry....neither am I. Use your network here, again update them with where you are at. People like to help their friends and co-workers hit goals!
