How it forms

• A flash flood forms whenever the amount of rainfall exceeds the areas natural and man made drainage and absorption system

How Severity is Measured

•Rate of which water rises

Where it occurs

• Areas with major rivers, streams, or other major water ways

Available Warning System

• Flash flood warnings can be issued when the Doppler radar indicates very heavy reflectivities

Safety Procedures

• Find out if you live in a flood prone area• Find out whether your property is above or below

flood level• Have an evacuation plan• Keep first aid available• Keep radio, flashlight, and portable food supplies
