It has been observed that diffuser film-coolant does nothave an effect upon ejector performance : If the water
is not turned on until after altitude is established .Tests were conducted in which the steam was admitted
after the film-coolant . The results were degradedaltitude .
H2 - F Engine Prososal (H . Zweig/G. Gaylord)G
Studies were performed to determine adequate facilities
to test a 2500 lb H2 -- F2 thrust chamber with altitudesimulation. Three choices were analyzed : 1) The planned
system at PRA,. 2) A new system at PRA, 3) Nevada B . Thelatter was deemed most desirable for this program, and will
be proposed as such.

GN Cascade Modifications, Project 8001x22 (D . Land
The activation date of the CTL'-3 Cascade is pending the receipt
of the Goddard Valves . The contractor stated that if ;Ie 7a17es
are shipped per schedule .22 February, and are air freighted to
Los Angeles . Then the CTL-3 cascade should start activation on
26 February, and be operational by 5 March .
The Alfa/Bravo cascade will not be shut down for modification until
the CTL-3 cascade is operational.
Centralized Helium Dist ibution System Project K037-15; D . Lanal-T)
The 30% drawings and specifications have been received from D/022.
D/083 receives directions for this project from D/022 . Test Systems
and the test responsible engineer are directed to make all designreview comments to D/022. D/096-210 has recommended the flow meter
for this project in 7L..-210-5-331 .
SERVO SYSTEM S
EFL Test Stand 1A Eeli ;un Heat Exchanger U . Roark/j. 3unner )
A new 1" Annin valve has been installed in the helium heat exchangersystem. Pressure oscillations similar to those in the old systemwere noted. Controller parameters will be monitored in an attemp t
to isolate the causes of these oscillations . The system is presentlybeing operated in the manual mode during hot firings with 5% pressureregulation. -
VTS-3B Gimbal Actuators (W . Doi )
Two gimbal actuators were assembled and sent to the Canoga plant
for service prior to installation on the test stand .
VTS-3B Heat Exchanger Throttling System (K. Schurman/G . :Montgomery )
A request was received from D/096-213, ,T-2 Test, to provide a
throttling valve system for heat exchanger evaluation on TITS-3B .
Flow calculations were completed for selection of the regulatorvalve. A suitable valve was located and will be modified forregulator usage and for high temperature requirements .

An electro--hydraulic servo system ( 111-1600 Annin) for temperature
control is under consideration for the LH2-line upstream of .he 1 -;-
GH2 mixer; and two dome regulators are planned for the 1H2- i neupstream of the LH2 tank for pressure control .
CTL-IlI Module I (M Schurman )
An internal letter FL11-5-4141 was issued concerning APCO regulator
malfunctions at CTT~Ill Module I.
Servo-Valves (S . Goldstein)
MOOG has furnished to us four servo valves which they modifie das a solution to the first stage oscillation problem, These valves
will be evaluated by us and returned to MOOG . Preliminary tests
show that the oscillation has not been eliminated in these valvesbut has been attenuated.
Delta 3C Vent Controller (R . Ellis )
Wiring discrepancies were found in-the vent controller, and have
been corrected .
USEFF - Flowmeter Calibration (D. Fenwick )
A motorized Hoke valve was serviced and put back into use in the
MMH cubicle. A spare Fisher "Gismo" valve together with positioner,
transducer pressure regulator, and cylinder was sent to E.L. with
instructions for servicing .
SM 151401, "Servicing Instructions for Electrically Operated Metering
Valve", was written.
