General Description The FKB Knife Gate Valves, model VGU-03 has the function of blocking and / or controlling the flow of fluids. Its

common application is in Fluid with pulp concentration > 5%, Drizzles, Liquor and Tailings. They are equipment to

be installed between flanges, which has Wafer body and Total Lug, which facilitates the installation and distributes

complete tightness between the flanges. With Double Facial Sealing system through elastomer sealing rings, which

have permanent contact with the knife, ensures excellent performance, durability and 100% tightness in both

directions in the open and closed positions without accumulation point and contactless fluid on the body

Constructive Description

Through-conduit Body

Built in Iron or Cast Steel, it is manufactured in one piece (up to DN 20" until 500mm), which contributes to the lower weight and easy handling. The one-piece body eliminates gaskets used in bipartite bodies, location of possible leakage. Length above DN 20" is constructed of two pieces.

Covered Passage

Ring built on stainless steel that eliminates the contact between the body and fluid, ensuring no body wearing and

possible quick and easy substitution of the ring, when necessary.

Types of the Passages for Regulation

Gate

Built on flat steel plate, designed in 4 minimum factor of safety as the tension (pull) and 2 as the minimum factor of

compressive and shear force.

Optional: FKB Special Coating, which provides significant increasing of hardness and resistance to wearing from

abrasion.

Sealing of the passage (Interchangeable sealing rings) Constructed of Elastomer is inserted in a simple and fast way between the Passage of Investment Ring and Valve Body so that:

Ensure 100% watertightness in the closed and open position, whereas when the valve in the open position and / or closed sealing rings Interchangeable knife pressure, thus ensuring full passage and minimum stress to the sealing ring;

Do not allow obstruction of passage, ensuring longer life to the fence and very low loss of flow and / or turbulence.

Notice: Metal / Metal sealing ensures sealing Class IV.





Notice: - It is extremely important doing periodical cleaning and / or drainage of the body in order to avoid the process fluid accumulation, so it may cause the locking of the opening and / or closing drive. - There is only process fluid passage through the body when the valve is in operation, in the fully open or closed position there is no pass.

Main Sealing

Steel interchangeable rings host the “O-ring” seats, providing the plain passage, which ensures longer life to

sealing and low-loss flowing.

Superior Sealing (Box Packing)

Made of gasket with compression system through elastomer, in order to guarantee 100% tightness for long periods

and avoid the possibility of leakage due to wearing.

Guide and Scraper

Made of UHMW, PTFE or Metal is designed to guide and scrape the gate, in order to eliminate possible

impregnation fluid within the monoblock body and any possibility of misalignment of the gate.

Support

Built by 4 (four) steel formed sheets and reinforced, which guarantee better support and eliminates the possibility of

warpage of the castle and possible failure of the body in the fixation area.

Stem

Stem

Made of stainless steel and designed to support the operation of the valve under maximum pressure, then the level

of slenderness is less than 200.

Hand Starter: Stem is designed to transmit, at least, twice the manual engine output.

Pneumatic, Hydraulic and Electrical: Stem is designed to transmit, at least, 1.25 times the actuator effort output.

Actuators Manual: - Manual operation valves until DN 14” are manufactured with relief torque system and operated directly by handwheel. - Manual operation valves from DN 16” and up are manufactured with reducer gears system and operated directly

by handwheel.





Note:

- When necessary, valves from DN6” can also be manufactured with a gear reducer, but must be requested at the

budget stage;

- It is not suggested manual override for valves larger than 24", it will require many laps in the handwheel and the

time for complete operation of the valve will be too long, thus increasing the knife display, process / fluid speed and

possible wear on hoses and / or knife.

Strong and Reforced Pneumatic Actuator: Designed and developed to operate with, at least, 5bar of working

pressure.

Strong and Reforced Hydraulic Actuator: Designed and developed to operate with, at least, 150bar of working

pressure.

Electric Actuator: Designed and developed to operate, at least, 125% of minimum necessary torque to operate the

valve under maximum pressure. Note: Other Actuators on request
