In 1960, Åke Nordin founded Fjällräven in his basement in the Swedish town of

Örnsköldsvik. Since then we have stayed true to our mission of developing timeless, functional

and durable outdoor equipment, acting responsibly towards people, animals and the

FJÄLLRÄVEN CLASSIC

Fjällräven Classic2014 celebrated 10 years for the popular trekking festivalWhen the first Fjällräven Classic debuted in 2004, 160 people from four different countries participated. Last year, over 2,016 people from 30 countries attended this now trekking tradition! In total, over 13,375 participants have headed off be-tween the birch forest start in Nikkaluokta and passed through the beautiful trails in Kungsleden.A safe and fun way to enjoy the mountainsWe created the Fjällräven Classic to

encourage more people to get out to the mountains in a safe and fun way. Over the years, the Fjällräven Classic has become a huge success, attracting an increasingly di-verse crowd from all over the globe. Hard-core outdoor enthusiasts and first-time trekkers alike hike together while enjoying the beautiful Northern landscape.Fantastic scenery The course travels along the classic Kung-sleden, The King’s Trail, and traces through breathtaking mountainous scenery. The

100km route passes several well-known landmarks in the mountain range: the ma-jestic Kebnekaise massif, the barren Tjäktja Pass, the sweeping moors at Alesjaure, and the lush green of Abisko National Park. There are several checkpoints along the way where you can find first-aid, supplies, and food. The trek is long and tough at parts but with our support and the right preparations, anyone can complete the Fjällräven Classic.

The best thing about the Fjällräven Classic is meeting everyone, not just the other trekkers but also all the volunteers and other people. There is no question if I will be there again this year!- Filip Hedberg, Stockholm, who has trekked the Fjällräven Classic every year since it started in 2005.

Companionship and festivitiesThe Classic’s popularity continues to grow due to the panoramic views, safe and easy format, and friendly atmosphere. Many who cross the finish line in Abisko leave with new friends and the experience of a lifetime. As we celebrate our ten-year jubi-lee, we look forward to many more years of great treks and fun-filled festivities.

Keb Family – TechnicalThe Keb family is named after Mt. Kebnekaise, Sweden’s highest mountain, locat-ed in northern Lapland. Products in the Keb family are developed for technical trekking in difficult terrain with an emphasis on freedom of movement and op-timized fabric functionality. Hybrid constructions with their different materials let the garments offer the best properties in each single product. For example, many Keb products combine the durability and wind/water re-pellency of G-1000 with the ventilation and elasticity of nylon stretch. Products in the Keb family are designed to excel when users move at a medium to high pace and garment cut and details are carefully worked through for great fit and functionality.

Sarek Family – Traditional Sarek is Sweden’s second largest national park and has several peaks over 2,000 meters. This great wilderness is the namesake of our Sarek family, which reflects our over 50-year-long tradition of making durable and functional equipment for trekking in Scandinavian conditions. The products are classic in style and designed for traditional trekking with a close eye on functionality and durability. These tried-and-tested designs are combined with robust workmanship. Most Sarek garments are made from functional G-1000 fabric, but the series also includes products made from natural fibers such as wool and cotton.

Abisko Family – LightweightAbisko, in Swedish Lapland, is the northern point of the classic trekking trail Kungsleden, The King’s Trail. Products in the Abisko family are developed for lighter day hikes and cabin-to-cabin trekking, in both Scandinavia and other countries around the globe. Abisko products are made in both synthetic and natural fibers. MT fabric is used for warm climate garments. Many of the products have G-1000 reinforce-ments at exposed areas. This means that even at a low product weight, durability is ensured.

Fjällräven FamiliesTo guide the customer through our product range, we have divid-ed our new products into families. Each family represents differ-ent activities and types of products. This makes it easier to find products suitable for specific customers, activities, and climates. With product names based on the family, it also is easier to find related products. The Keb, Sarek, and Abisko families includeproducts developed for different types of trekking in various

terrain and climate zones. The Övik, Kiruna, and Greenland fam-ilies include products that connect city life with a life in the out-doors, while High Coast introduces a line of lightweight productsfor warm conditions and active summer life. Made for both casual and outdoor use, all products are functional outdoor equipment.

High Coast Family - Lightweight The High Coast family has taken its name from the beautiful coastal region surrounding Fjällräven’s hometown, Örnsköldsvik. This is where the land and sea meet, where deep forests and dramatic coastlines make up a landscape that entices outdoor enthusiasts time and time again to take part in all kinds of activities- hik-ing, cycling, kayaking, and sometimes several activities on the same warm summer day. Products in the High Coast family have been designed with warm conditions and active summer life in mind, be it at home or while on holiday. It is lightweight, pliant and versatile clothing with clean lines and few added details – all to keep weight down and allow you to pack smart. Some garments are made from G-1000 Lite, while others are made from light, cool, and fast-drying synthetic/cotton blends.

ÖVIK FAMILY – Traditional Övik is the nickname of Fjällräven’s hometown Örnsköldvik, part of the World Heritage Höga Kusten. The northern coastal town and its scenic surroundings are inspiration for an active outdoor lifestyle. Quite naturally, our origins have also inspired us in the creation of the Övik family, which consists of functional and versatile products for general outdoor life. With classic styles, Övik products work as well on the trail as they do in town after a hike. The Övik family is primarily based on our G-1000 fabric, with first and mid-layer products predominantly made in natural fibers such as wool and cotton.

Greenland Family - Iconic Fjällräven’s first jacket, the Greenland Jacket, was launched in 1968 and was devel-oped in close cooperation with team members of the 1966 Scandinavian Greenland expedition. The jacket was a success among climbers and outdoor enthusiasts, and it quickly became immensely popular. Over the years it has gained an iconic status. One reason for its success is the G-1000 fabric, which was born together with the jacket. The Greenland family consists of a number of products that are all made in G-1000 and that all carry features recognizable from the original jacket, which of course is still part of the Greenland range.

kEY SYSTEMSNew for summer 2015, we present a number of Key Systems for each Fjällräven product family. Key systems are groups of selected products that together make up functional and visually strong combinations. The goal of Key Systems is to draw attention to combinations of clothing and equipment that we believe have a lot of potential and that will be a marketing focus.

On the following pages we present the products in the Key Sys-tems for each respective family. These combinations are to be used as a guide for customers who want to equip themselves from head to toe. Styles in these colors will create an understanding of what Fjällräven and our product families are all about.

OUTDOOR

KIRUNA FAMILY – Versatile In Swedish Lapland, 15 kilometers north of the Arctic Circle, lies the town of Kiruna. Surrounded by high fells, deep forests, free-flowing rivers and over 6,000 lakes, Kiruna is the gateway to the great wilderness of the north. These products are developed to be functional from the trail to exploring urban set-tings around the globe. With simple and clean lines, Kiruna products represent the pure function of G-1000 fabrics. Single layer G-1000 is prominent, resulting in lightweight and packable products. Garment fit is engineered to work well in town, while also offering freedom of movement for various outdoor activities.

Back to the futureFjällräven BackpacksInnovation Since 1960It all started when Fjällräven founder Åke Nordin made the world’s first wood-frame backpack in the 1950s. After many long treks in the mountains, Åke decided the backpacks at the time were unsatisfactory and took matters into his own hands by build-ing a wooden frame. This evenly distributed weight across his back so the pack did not end up uneven, pear-shaped, and uncomfort-able. It also meant he could carry more weight with ease. He built the first pack in his basement with his mother’s sewing machine. Åke attached the wooden frame to a strong cotton fabric using leather straps and calfskin for the support straps. Not only was the pack more comfortable and distributed weight evenly, it

also increased ventilation between his back and the pack. Soon after a trip up North, Åke’s invention caught the attention of the indigenous Sami people who spent weeks at a time high up in the mountains. They asked Åke to build them a backpack and after that a tent. Fjällräven had found its beginning. Åke’s innovation quickly caught on and in 1960 Fjällräven became the first to com-mercially make and distribute framed backpacks.

As of 2014 ALL nylon technical packs are PFC free, another testament to our eco-friendly commitment.

KAJKAErgonomic, durable, trekking backpackpacked with functionality.The Kajka combines simplicity, durability, and functionality to create an advanced trekking backpack in the classic Fjällräven spirit. The carrying system is designed to bear extremely heavy loads, and the user-friendly Perfect Fit Adjustment System can easily be adjusted to fit different body types. In 2013, the Kajka was redesigned with a unique, ground breaking wooden frame.

In addition to the new wooden frame, the Kajka has other well thought out design features such as a wet/dry com-partment and a removable top lid that can be used as a chest or hip pack. Vinylon F swells when it gets damp which makes the weave tighter in wet conditions. This creates materi-al which is water resistant and does not need extra coating. The result is a light, durable material with ex-cellent resistance to moisture and abrasion.

FSC Certified WoodThe new frame is made from birch that is FSC certified and grown using responsible foresting methods. The wood is laminated layer upon layer with water-resistant, environmen-tally friendly glue, and then treated with linseed oil.

90% less emissions of CO2The carbon footprint of the new frame is 90 percent lower than its aluminium predecessor. We will continue to climate compen-sate for all emissions that arise from theproduction and transport of the new Kajka, just as we have since the original model back in 2009.

From the lab to the fieldComprehensive laboratory tests haveconfirmed that the wooden frame is as strong if not stronger than the aluminium frame. The new Kajka frame has also endured long periods of tough field testing in all weather conditions and climates.

AbiskoVersatile and convenient lightweight trekking backpack

The new carrying system can be easily adjusted to the length of the user’s back and is available in two versions with specific lengths and shoulder straps adapted for a male or female build. The Abisko’s slim silhouette and spacious top loaded main com-partment with a large front opening make it a practical backpack for short weekend treks or longer trips.

The Abisko is a simplified, light backpack for trekkers, backcountry skiers, and travelers. And now we have made it even better! For the summer of 2015, the Abisko is being relaunched with a new, even more comfortable carrying system. We have also started using a new stronger fabric for the entire backpack. These improvements are part of our ongoing research and development process, as we are continuously looking for ways to improve our products.

Versatile and hardwearing, the packs are made from durable G-1000 HeavyDuty Eco, a blend of recycled polyester and organic cotton. The design is kept simple but features functional and durable details. The 38L and 58L models, for example, have attachment points for ice axes or trekking poles and are hydration system compatible. This combination makes the backpack ideal for winter

Af-ter many years of use, a local Kiruna mine foreman and his wife transformed his faithful Greenland Jacket into a useful bag. Today, this would have been called upcycling – for them it was just com-mon sense. This simple yet creative re-design inspired the development of our Greenland Backpacks. Made from G-1000 HeavyDuty these packs feature a main compartment with laptop holder and securi-ty pocket. The larger model has two of our traditional Greenland pockets with folded flaps. KånkenIt’s never too early to start a good habit.At the end of the 1970s, new statistics showed that close to 80% of the Swedish population at some point experienced back pain, and the problem was becoming ap-parent in increasingly younger age groups. At that time, shoulder bags were fashion-able and experts realized that the risk of back pain decreased if the weight of school books was redistributed from one shoulder to two.

An idea that carried weight Fjällräven’s Åke Nordin followed the debate and decided to design an affordable,functional backpack that had plenty of space for schoolchildren’s books and bind-ers. This design, which we now know as the Kånken, launched in 1978 in cooperation with the Swedish Scout Association. By redistributing the weight of the bag from one shoulder to two, the Kånken

helped diminished back problems and even improve posture.Not much has changed Now, over 35 years later, Kånken has straightened out millions of backs. Asa product, Kånken has not changed much, apart from being available in more colors and a few new models–such as Kånken Laptop, Kånken Mini, Kånken No.2 and Kånken Big.

Vinylon FVinylon F is the functional fabric that has made Kånken daypacks seemingly immortal for the last 30 years. While being a synthetic fiber, Vinylon F shares many benefits with natural fibers. Fabrics used for backpacks usually need a coating to become water resistant. This is functional initially, but the coating inevitably loses its waterproofness over time. Vinylon F, on the other hand, behaves like a natural fiber and swells when it gets damp. Moisture actually makes the fabric weave tighter, so that it resists water without the need of a coating. The result is a lighter and more durable material. Combined with excellent resistance to abrasion, Vinylon F is a fabric that continues to prove its durable functionality, year after year.

Reinforced insulation with 60% of the filling at the front side of the bag gives great warmth where it is needed most. Abisko Lite JacketEven a warm and sunny day in the mountains can surprise you with cold winds. With light trekking in the summer in mind, we have designed the Abisko Lite Jacket, a light and well ventilated jacket for the warmer months of the year. The jacket combines stretch fabric and G-1000 Lite for the optimal combination of freedom of movement, wind protection, and durability. The hood is adjustable, and the front zipper is two-way with an inside protective flap. There are two zippered chest pockets big enough for a map and with inside stretch fabric that expands for extra volume when needed. Excellent ventailation helps keep you cool when you pick up the pace.

The Abisko Lite Jacket works perfectly together with the Abisko Lite Trousers or the Abisko Lite Shorts. Both are made from stretch fabric, and the trousers are reinforced with G-1000 Lite on the lower legs and over the knees to handle tricky or bush-covered terrain. Greenland JacketIn the 1960s, outdoor clothing was not as functional as it is today. This lack of functionality became particularly obvious during the Scandinavian Greenland Expedi-tion of 1966. After returning home, partic-ipating alpinists had in-depth discussions about outdoor clothing with Fjällräven’s founder Åke Nordin, who then designed a climbing jacket based on their ideas and requirements.A jacket for mountaineersUsing his mother’s sewing machine and a piece of fabric that was too heavy for his

lightweight tents, Åke made Fjällräven’s first jacket. The fabric was a tightly woven polyester and cotton blend that proved to be perfect for outdoor clothing, especially when Åke waxed it with a mixture of beeswax and paraffin. When Fjällräven’s first jacket was launched in 1968 it was named after the Greenland Expedition. The Greenland Jacket was lightweight, durable and quickdrying – all the things that earlier cotton garments were not. Climbers and outdoor enthusi-asts loved the functional jacket.

Original conceptIn the early 1970s, a longer parka version was added as well as a padded version for winter use. Today, there are a number of models in the Greenland series to choose from, including the Greenland No.1 Jacket. One concept we have stuck with all these years is the original fabric, G-1000. Still today, our own durable, adaptable, and functional fabric is considered to be one of the world’s best outdoor materials.

Räven Jacket is a relaunch of a classic Fjällräven model from the end of the 1970s, a timeless favorite in the same spirit as our Greenland Jacket but with a lighter, foldaway hood. Durable, weather resistant and with simple, tried-and-tested features, it is just as suitable as an everyday jacket as it is for general outdoor life. Simultaneous spinning and dyeing saves water and energyTraditional textile dyeing involves immersing fabric in a dye bath, rinsing it in a rinse bath and then drying it. With Solution Dyeing, the coloring takes place before the fibers are spun

into yarn. The raw material in the form of polyester – either new or recycled – is mixed with the color pigment, and then this colored, liquid polymer is spun into the type of yarn required. In environmental terms, the Solution Dyeing method means significantly lower water and energy consumption levels than seen in traditional dyeing. In a fleece jacket such as the Sten Fleece, water consumption is reduced by 50

percent and energy consumption is reduced by 31 percent. The method also means reduced use of chemicals, and there is no dye or water spill that has to be taken care of. Carbon dioxide emissions are also reduced. The environmental benefits are the most important reason behind Fjällräven using Solution Dyed fabrics in our collection. But there are other positive effects as well, for example superior color consistency and improved resistance to fading from multiple washings or sunlight.

Solution dyeing

Fjällräven is constantly looking for new materials and methods of production that allow more efficient use of resources and that reduce the effect our products have on the environment. One good example is Solution Dyeing, a technique that has significantly reduced the amount of both water and energy used in the manufacture and dyeing of polyester fabrics.

GREENLAND JACKET WIn the 1960s, outdoor clothing was not as functional as it is today. This lack of functionality became partic-ularly obvious during the Scandina-vian Greenland Expedition of 1966. After returning home, participating alpinists had in-depth discussions about outdoor clothing with Fjäll-räven’s founder Åke Nordin, who then designed a climbing jacket based on their ideas and requirements.

In 2012, we introduced Fjällräven Numbers, a multi-season, made in Europe collection with an exceptionally long life-span and minimal environmental impact. This introduction was the first step towards making our vision of producing uncompromising outdoor apparel to last for generations a reality.

Continuous developmentWe’ve continued to develop the Numbers Series with the aim of creating a complete range of clothing for challenging outdoor life and varying climates and terrains. Our women’s collection, launched in 2013, features the same excellent details and functionality that the men’s Numbers Collection is known for.

Interesting insights As a company, we’ve learned a lot about the factory to consumer process. We’ve developed invaluable partnerships with high-stan-dard factories in Europe. We’ve seen first-hand that it is possible to produce the highest quality apparel with the lowest impact on the environment, and that there is a market for this attention to detail. Versatile anorak-style shirt-jacket in light, wind resistant G-1000® Lite. A practical working garment in warm climates, especially if you are dealing with difficult terrain and changeable weather condi-tions. The fabric protects against scratches from branches and while ventilating out moisture that builds within when you move about. When the temperature rises the sides can be opened up and the sleeves detached above the elbows for maximum air circulation. The half-length front opening has press buttons (1), and there are two vertical chest pockets with zippers (2). A large kangaroo pocket (3) with inside mobile phone pocket offers easily-accessed storage for gloves, a camera case and other things needed close at hand. Gussets under the arms (4) give extra freedom of movement, and ventilation holes (5) release moisture. Press buttons at the cuffs, side openings and on detachable sleeves (6). The shirt’s wind and water resistant properties can easily be adapted with Greenland Wax.

Light and soft sweater made from a high-quality, ro-bust piqué-knitted wool and organic cotton blend. A timeless garment that is perfect as a light insulating mid layer in warmer climates, but that can also be worn as it is, directly against the skin. Wool transports moisture away from the body and gives warmth, for example on cool evenings, while cotton has a soft and comfortable feel. Round neck (1) and attractive cut over the shoulders, with flatlock seams (2) that reduce the risk of chafing.

Anorak No.9 is a durable trekking anorak for warmer conditions and higher levels of activity. As with Anorak No.8 it has four-season functionality but it has fewer reinforcements and takes less space in packing. The hood (1) has the same constructions as No.8 and can be adjusted for a perfect fit around the head, and its visor (2) can be folded back at two angles depending on whether you want maximum wind protection or more peripheral vision. When not being worn, the hood forms a high collar that keeps the neck warm. Half-length zipper at the front (3), and the gusset in the opening can be unbuttoned and folded to the side to release excess heat. Long zippers (4) at the sides allow extra ventilation and facilitate putting on/taking off. The kangaroo pocket (5) at the front is a little smaller than on Anorak No.8 and has openings from the side. A drawcord in the back (6) regulates the waist and another drawcord in the front adjusts the hem. Sleeve cuffs can be adjusted with buttons (7). Just like Jacket No. 68, it is designed for challenging outdoor life, but it has a longer cut and more numerous and robust functional features. The spacious hood (1) can be adjusted for a perfect fit and the visor (2) can be folded back in two positions to either give maximum protection from the wind or more lateral vision. When not pulled up, it makes a high collar. There are many spacious pockets on the chest (3), lower front, back and arms – most of which have bellows, robust flaps and buttons. The front zipper (4) is two way and has protective flaps and easy to grip buttons that are attached with corded ribbon to tolerate extra hard wear. There is a drawcord adjustment (5) at the waist, extra gussets (6) under the arms and pre-shaped sleeves for improved freedom of movement. The jacket’s fit is generous so there is plenty of room for reinforcement garments underneath. Smock No. 1 is made from wind and water resistant G-1000® Eco in recycled polyester and organic cotton, with extra durable G-1000 HeavyDuty on the upper back, sleeves and pockets.

Fluorocarbon-Free ImpregnationIt is well know that fluorocarbons are harmful to living organisms and our environment. No fluoro carbons have been used in the impregnation of products with this symbol. We use Bionic Finish® Eco as an alternative impregnation. To maintain the performance of waterproofed gear, we recommend spraying it regularly with a fluorocarbon-free impreg-nation spray.

Recycled PolyesterWe use recycled polyester in order to lessen our dependency on oil and create less air, water and soil contamination. Fjällrä-ven’s recycled polyester equipment is made from the polyester fibres of recycled soda bottles, unusable second quality fabrics and worn out garments.

Organic CottonOrganic cotton is grown without the use of toxic and persistent pesticides and synthetic fertilizers. Third-party certification organizations verify that our organic producers use only methods and materials approved for organic production.

Adapt your G-1000® garment with Greenland Wax

Materials

Hardwearingg-1000® is very resistant to wear, combined with its low weight, this makes g-1000® garments perfect for both travelling and life in the great outdoors.

Water ResistantGreenland Wax makes g-1000® clothing resistant to rain and moisture. This means that you can wear your g-1000® garments during brief showers without get-ting wet. Even if they get wet, they will dry quickly.

Wind ProofThe tightly-spun weave in g-1000® makes it virtually windproof. Once impregnated, it offers complete protection from biting winds.

BreathabilityOne of g-1000’s most impressive properties is its excel-lent breathability – it efficiently releases moisture from the body, which is particularly practical for strenuous outdoor activities.

UV ProtectionThe densely woven fabric provides almost 100% protection from the sun’s ultraviolet (uva and uvb) rays, and thus helps protect against sunburn.

g-1000® is Fjällräven’s own durable and versatile fabric, a proven outdoor classic for any type of adventure at any time of the year. The tightly woven fabric is made from 65% polyester and 35% cotton and has been waxed with Greenland Wax. G-1000®–hardwearing and adaptable

G-1000 comes in five versions All share the benefits of g-1000®, but each has its own specific properties as well.

1. ApplyTake the block of Greenland Wax and rub it with long strokes against the fabric, applying a thin, even layer.

2. HeatMelt the wax into the fabric using an iron set on low/medium heat and without steam (clean the iron before you use it on other garments). You can also use a hairdryer or a camp stove. The wax melts at 55-60°c (131-140°f).

3. RepeatApply several several layers of wax to surfaces that need extra impregnation, such as the shoulders, hood, knees, rear and other exposed areas. To remove wax, wash the garment in 40°c (105°f).

Waxing in the fieldOnce the wax has been applied, hold the garment a few inches above a strong, steady flame from your outdoor stove. Slowly move it closer to the flame until you see the wax start to melt. Be careful that you do not burn your garment, and do not have your hand or arm in the garment when melting the wax. Simply stretch out the garment and move it back and forth until the wax has melted into the fabric.

With Greenland Wax, g-1000® garments can be easily adapted to suit personal preferences, different weather conditions and intended activity level. More wax makes a more resistant garment that can keep out the rain and wind. It also increases the durability of the garment. Greenland Wax is made from paraffin and beeswax and melts at approximately 55°c (130°f). One wax block is enough to impregnate approximately ten garments.

Mosquito ProofA well-waxed garment keeps mosquitoes and other flying insects away from your skin, which is a huge plus both in the mountains and forest as well as on trips to warmer climates. g-1000® Lite is not mosquito proof.

All our g-1000 garments are impregnated with Greenland Wax made from beeswax and paraffin.

The wax makes the garments water, wind and dirt resistant.

You can easily adjust the amount of impregnation on the fabric by applying

more wax or washing it out. In this way you can choose a level of water resistance and

breathability to suit different weather conditions and activity levels. You find Greenland Wax where you buy your g-1000 product.

Eco-Shell Eco-Shell is our wind and waterproof shell fabric that also meets high environmental standards. It is breathable and will keep you dry and comfortable even in the toughest weather conditions.

Comfortable in extreme weather conditions

Eco-Shell is waterproof (water pillar >25 meter) and keeps you dry even in the heaviest downpours. Since it is windproof, it also gives you protection when the wind picks up. Excellent breathability efficiently lets out body moisture.

Responsible to the nature we love

No fluorocarbons have been used in the impregnation of our Eco-Shell products. Eco-Shell is climate compensated for the unavoidable emissions that arise during production and transport. Eco-Shell is also part of Eco Circle™, the world’s first closed ecocycle system for recycled polyester. That means Eco-Shell garments can be recycled and start a new life after they are worn out.

Hydratic®

Hydratic® garments are wind and waterproof and also let moisture escape from within, making it less likely that you get wet from sweat. Hydratic® comes as a coating, a laminate/membrane or a loose liner. It provides different levels of waterproof-ness and breathability depending on where on the garment it is applied. Waterproofness is measured in water column, i.e. the pressure a fabric can take before it starts leaking. The higher the water column, the more pressure the fabric can take. In purely technical terms, a fabric with a water column of 1.000 mm is regarded as waterproof. Garments with Hydratic® have water columns ranging from 5.000 to 20.000 mm. Breathability – or more correctly stated: the fabric’s ability to let moisture escape – is indicated by the number of grams of water let through per square meter in 24 hours. Hydratic® releases between 3.000 and 15.000 grams. The higher the figure, the more “breathable” the fabric.

Hydratic® SilentHydratic® S is a development of Hydratic® with a soft, lightly brushed surface. It is specifically designed to be quiet while still providing protection from wind and water, as well as good breathability for good function and comfort. Hydratic® S is perfect for activities where moving quietly is important, e.g. hunting, bird watching and fishing.

MT – Ideal for travelingMicro Travel, mt, is a micro polyamide and combed cotton blend with a soft, brushed feel. The material is light-weight yet strong and has the cooling comfort of cotton. It also offers 50+ uv protection and is well ventilated and wrinkle resistant, making it ideal for travelling and adventures in warm climates.

Quick drying

mt garments are extremely breathable and fast drying. The fabric dries three times faster than comparable cotton products.

Light-weight

mt garments are light and almost completely wrinkle resistant. When packed, they take very little space.

UV protection

mt has a sun protection factor of upf 50+. It provides twice the protection of comparable cotton products.

CottonCotton is a natural fibre offering an unsurpassed soft, comfortable feel against the skin. Pure cotton garments are primarily recommended for easy-going activities and for use in hot climates, where its moisture binding properties give a cooling effect. Fjällräven uses only the highest quality long-fibre cotton. Cotton flannel has a soft, brushed surface. All our cotton t-shirts and many other products are made from organically grown cotton.

Tencel® – A sustainable, soft feel fibreTencel® is the brand name for a natural fibre also called Lyocell. It is comfortable to wear next to the skin and has good functional qualities, particularly in warmer climates.

A functional fabric

Tencel® is cool to wear, soft and drapes well. It effectively transports moisture and can absorb 50 per cent more water than cotton. This makes it an excellent functional fabric, suitable for both outdoor life and travel.

Eco-friendly production

Tencel® from Lenzing Fibres is made from the cellulose found in fast growing trees, primarily eucalyptus and beech, from certified sustainable plantations. The manufacturing process is gentle on the environment and 99.5 percent of all chemi-cals used are recycled and reused in a closed system. For this reason, Tencel® won the “European Award for the Environme-nt” presented by the eu.

Vinylon FVinylon F is the functional fabric that has made Kånken daypacks seemingly immortal for the last 30 years. While being a synthetic fiber, Vinylon F shares many benefits with natural fibres.Fabrics used for backpacks usually need a coating to become water resistant. This is functional initially, but the coating inevitably loses its waterproofness over time. Vinylon F, on the other hand, behaves like a natural fibre and swells when it gets damp. Moisture actually makes the fabric weave tighter, so that it resists water without the need of a coating. The result is a lighter and more durable material. Combined with excellent resistance to abrasion, Vinylon F is a fabric that continues to prove its durable functionality, year after year.

DownDown offers unbeatable insulation to weight ratio. It is comfortable, has air-trapping loft, is easy to compress – and it quickly recovers after compression. The down used in Fjällräven products is of premium quality and we have extremely strict routines to ensure that it is handled in an ethically responsible way. Down is usually mixed with a small amount of feathers to obtain stability. The higher the percentage of down, the better the insulation. 90/10 means that for every 100 grams of filling, 90 grams are down. Down quality is measured in fillpower or cuin. A higher value means better insulation at a given weight.

G-LOFT SupremeG-Loft Supreme is a high-end synthetic insulation with outstanding functional properties. Developed exclusively for Fjällräven by the Austrian insulation experts at Goldeck Textil, G-Loft Supreme’s unique mix of hollow and super-thin fibres offers an exceptional warmth to weight ratio. The fibres have a natural clustering property, similar to high-quality down, and form countless air- trapping pockets. A “memory effect” in the molecular structure means the fibres automatically recover their original spiral shape, even after repeated washing and hard wear. G-Loft Supreme is also quick-drying, highly compressible and easy to care for – with excellent thermal properties even in extremely wet and cold conditions. G-Loft Supreme is made from polyester with 10% recycled fibres. It is produced in Austria.

Supreme Microloft Supreme Microloft is Fjällräven’s own synthetic fibre and one of the best synthetic insulation materials available. The combination of thin and slightly thicker silicone treated microfibers fills the garment or sleeping bag with an insulating layer of air, following the same principle as with down insulation. The synthetic fibres in Supreme Microloft can withstand moisture better than down as they still keep their thermal properties when damp. They are also easier to clean and retain their loft and insulating properties even after long-term use.

Supreme Microloft SBSupreme Microloft SB is Fjällräven’s own synthetic filling developed especially for sleeping bags. With a mixture of solid and hollow fibres in a very fine denier, Supreme Microloft SB provides great loft and recovers well after compression, making it an ideal insulation material for sleeping bags.
