Five Practices of a Fruitful Life
An Opportunity to Be Blessed
Are you seeking to deepen your spiritual life?
Do you ever find yourself asking...why do I bother with this
"church thing", anyway"?
Are you feeling isolated and wondering how to feel more
connected to others?
You are invited to make a five-week commitment to a study
that could change your life. In our busy, techno-driven
world, many of us are left with a longing for belonging. If
you can take that first step and commit to this process, I
believe you will find some answers and
some companionship.
You will find a description of our study and several ways to
be involved on page 5 this newsletter. To enroll or to order a
study book, simply call the church or complete a form this
Sunday.
If you have any questions, feel free to call Pastor Amy at
229-5286.
We have had an excellent response so far....be among those
who are choosing to be blessed!
Looking forward to sharing a more fruitful life with you,
Amy Rogers

New Hope Kids Cook! New Hope's 1st Kid's Cooking Class was an over-
whelming SUCCESS! We had 10 children signed
up to begin their journey in the world of the culi-
nary arts. All children received an apron and had
a hand in all prepared food. They made an appetiz-
er, which was a piece of French bread spread with
pizza sauce with mini pepperoni and mozzarella
cheese. There was Caesar salad, Spaghetti with
meatballs and for dessert, homemade apple pie and
dark chocolate cake with fudge icing. Each child
received an invitation so they could invite a guest
to come and share this meal with us. With the
children, their guests and all of the parents and
adult helpers, we had approximately 27 people in
attendance.
Once the meal was prepared, we set the table to get
ready to receive guests. Tables were set up in a u-
shape and covered with linen tablecloths in gold
and olive green. Glass plates and glasses were
used to set the table. The children helped to set
each place setting. The food was served buffet style
and tasted wonderful! All guests were pleased and
amazed at the work the children had done.
There was a drawing for door prizes at the end of
the evening and each child received a framed cer-
tificate of participation. They are now called
"chefs". What a wonderful day!

About 2014 Summer Camps
Camp fees vary depending on the camp
and are listed on the Regional Website
(okdisciples.org) and on the bulletin
board in the NHCC narthex.
You can print registration forms on the
Regional Website or pick them up from
the church office.
If you register before April 15th the fees
are discounted and in addition the Disci-
ples Men will pay $40 of the fee for each
camper from the Central Area.
If you register between April 16th and
May 15th regular rates will apply and
the Disciples Men do not pay their schol-
arship amount.
Summer camp is a wonderful opportuni-
ty to learn about God, make new friends
and just generally have a great time in a
beautiful setting. Make your plans now
to be a Summer Camper in 2014.
Food Pantry News
We have learned from U.S. Grant that they no long-
er need our food pantry contributions because they
are now receiving food for their students through
the Regional Food Bank, so the Missions Committee
has decided to assist our sister congregation Hill-
crest Christian with their Mobile Meals Ministry.
While they will be happy to receive any food (or
cash) contributions NHCC might offer, they did
send a list of the items they use most often to help
both them and us in this joint effort.
Here is the list for Mobile Meals’ regular needs:
Large (but not gallon) veggies & fruit are preferable
when available, otherwise regular size will do.
Evaporated milk (cans)
Baked Beans
Blacked-eyed Peas
Creamed Soups (chicken & tomato)
Egg Noodles
Spaghetti “Os”
Green Beans
Corn
Ketchup
Macaroni & Cheese (boxed)
Onion Soup Mix
Peas
Ranch Style Beans
Spaghetti
Spaghetti Sauce
Tomato Sauce
Tomatoes
Stove Top Stuffing
Sweet Potatoes (canned)
Canned fruit: applesauce,
fruit cocktail, peaches, etc.
Cookies
Chicken (cans)

The CWF Ladies of New Hope collect Box
Tops for Education (for a class of Autistic
Children), aluminum soda cans (pull tabs
go to Ronald McDonald house and the
cans are sold so they can use the money
for their various service projects), used
postage stamps (these go to support mis-
sion projects)/
They also collect clothing, books, and
magazines for North Winds.
These are all items that might otherwise
end up in the dump and it only takes a
few minutes to save them and bring them
to church to help the ladies in their good
works.
