Fisheries Information System (SIH)
Monitors resources, harvesting and economics
General objectives
– standardize the collection, storage and processing of fisheries data
– ensure validation and storage of fisheries data– improve the access to centralized data bases– elaborate fisheries indicators– produce synthesis for our laboratories, partners
and the general public

Fisheries Statistics
Fisheries biologists need precise data
informations per boat and per fishing operation and day at sea• gear• area • fishing effort• catch per specie (including non quota)
At the moment, only available by fishermen ’s Log-books

Recopesca Project
Network of fishing effort and environment parameters measurements on board fishing boats.
• Sample of fishing boats - volunteers
• Measurement network by sensors on board and on fishing gears
• With no cost and trouble for fishermen
• Only for scientific purposes
• Evolutive
• With benefits for fishermen
Complementarity with log books and Vessel Monitoring System (UE)

• Active gears: trawls, dredges
Fishing effort measurement
Measurment of duration of immersion and depth with one sensor on the gear.
Combined with GPS data, this information can provide towed areas estimations.
