Our Boondooma Dam fishing comp is on the 6th 7th and 8th February, (before our Club meeting
this month), but quite a few members are going up early to get a good camp site near the water, so
their boat doesn't have to be taken out every day, it can be left in the water next to the camp site.
This all depends on the water level if we can get close
to the water. The dam at present is 71% full. If
anybody wants to go early, just ring myself or Carl to see when some of
the other members are going if you want to tag along. Some are going
up on Tuesday and Wednesday and I am going up Thursday morning
early.
There is also a separate fishing comp up there which gets up to 700 adult and children entrants. It is not expensive
to enter and they have a lot of random prizes throughout the weekend. Most of our members that go up there enter
this comp as well and have won many prizes in the random draws as well as the fishing section. The club will not be
paying for any camp fees this comp.
Cheers Vince.
We had some great weather and a big turnout for our Tropical Ice
Boxes Fish Frenzy (Most Species competition) for January. With
over 35 fish weighed in on the Sunday it was a very successful
competition and thanks to Brian Fawcett for a great barbie.
Wayne Knibb was our winner with 7 species, Clive 2nd with 6 and a
three way tie for third was taken out on countback by Mark
Armstrong with a top quality bag of 5 fish - In just about any other
competition these fish would have got the top gong. The winners walked away with the normal Maroochy Fishing
World Vouchers thanks to Wayne and Barb, however we are waiting to hear
back from Tropical Ice Boxes for confirmation on the prizes they are kindly
donating for their sponsorship of the event.
Our competition for February is actually prior to the February members
meeting due to it coinciding with the Public competition held at Boondooma
Dam. It is Friday, Saturday and Sunday the 6th, 7th and 8th and is a great trip to
come on. If you have any questions about the trip just give Vince a call on
0419785179.
We have a great couple of months coming up with the Boondooma Dam trip next week, an Auction for the March
members meeting, Mackerel and Tuna comp also in March. Don’t forget to book holidays (with work or your better
half) for our Tannum Trip in June. It is a cracker with fishing for all tastes - Dam, Estuary, Reef, with or without a boat
there is fishing and crabbing available for everyone. Not to mention the nights around the campfire.
See you soon, either at Boondooma Dam or the next meeting,
Cheers Chris.

Round the Circle is a monthly collection of snippets of interest /
information concerning the club. Most is collected at the “Sewing Circle”
held at Wayne and Barb’s Fishing World on Friday mornings – hence the
name. Contribute items to Tony Fleming
Share a coffee or tea some food and true fishing hints, spots and stories.
• Latest spanner crabbing trip on Jan
26th proved to be very poor. 8 pots and 8
keepers. The only good parts of the trip was
the brilliant ocean condition with maybe a
little too much current and the new winch
to pull in the trays worked perfectly.

• For Sale - 2003 Whittley Hardtop Cruiser for Sale
2003 Whittley 660 Hardtop Cruiser with BRAND NEW 220 HP 4.3 litre MPI V6 inboard still under Mercury warranty. (Max 2
hours use at time of listing.) As the name suggests this boat measures 6.6 metres (21 foot 8 inches) excluding the rear swim
platform/marlin board. (About 24 foot with these included) The 660 is one of the largest “trailerable”boats in Australia and is
considered to have one of the best hulls on the market that won rave reviews when released. It’s a stylish looker that never
seems to date. The boat is very “dry”, even in challenging sea conditions and features a huge sunroof over the mate and drivers
position. There is an enclosed toilet with hot water shower and vanity. Navman sounder/GPS, plus the boat is wired for a
Lowrance HDS- 7 Fish Finder, Sonar and GPS. An oversized “through hull” transducer was installed to ensure no cavitation noise
on the screen. (The HDS 7 unit was a gift but can be included if we negotiate the right price) Other features include:
• electric anchor winch,
• trim tabs,
• trickle battery charger to 3 battery bank for overnighting,
• fresh water shower over swim platform,
• galley unit with stove, sink and fridge,
• VHF radio, upgraded stereo system,
• rear table/lounge,
• windscreen wipers,
• spare stainless steel prop
• stainless steel BBQ (never used)
• brand new fully waterproof boat cover.
• The swim platform/marlin board is fully enclosed by a stainless steel stern rail that incorporates rod holders,
bait board and gate to access the recessed dive ladder.
• Clears all round plus some insect screens, but clears could do with some attention.
• Hydrolift for on water dry storage. Recently refurbished with new hoses, valves and anodes.
• Full log books and manuals.
• All safety gear including flares, EPERB, sea anchor etc
• 4 clip on fenders.
• 12 months rego
This was to be my dream boat, but ill health means it has to go. I felt the best time to sell was with a brand new motor. The boat
is stored on water but no test drives will be conducted until we agree a price. (I am then happy to make any agreement subject
to the boat passing an on water test.) Listed for sale at a pretty firm $49950.

• Rod/Reel Combo I am selling a combo, the reel has never been used, and the rod has been used once. It is a Shimano TLD 20 BRAND
NEW, and a Shimano Backbone 15kg (I think it is a backbone), do you know of anybody who would be willing to buy as
a combo for $200 as the reel have never been used and the rod is like brand new after only one us, like it should be
after one use. Can you please get back to me if you know anybody, as we really need the money as soon as possible?
Please call me on 0488125736 if you know anybody or pass this message onto interested people.
Thanks, Neesha Kirkpatrick
