Mission Statement—Family Rescue is dedicated to eliminating domestic violence in

the Chicago community by providing comprehensive support services and shelter to victims

of domestic violence, particularly to abused women and their children, engaging in advocacy

to promote future system change, and encouraging prevention through community

education.

Vision Statement—Family Rescue

envisions a world where safety and well

being is a shared responsibility within

and among families and communities,

achieved only when the most vulnerable

among us is safe, and a society free of

violence is a reality for all.

Across all four programs, in FY17, Family Rescue provided

1,307 clients with the tools to build a foundation for their

life as survivors.

Ridgeland Apartments and Children’s Program (RAP) offers survivors with children subsidized housing for up to two years. RAP also provides free after-school programs for children in the program as well as continued counseling and life skill groups for survivors.

Rosenthal Family Lodge (RFL) offers immediate shelter for victims of domestic violence and their children. Clients can stay up to 120 days in the lodge, to help clients avoid facing homelessness. Services offered include all levels of counseling (individuals, family, and group), individual case management, and assistance in finding permanent housing, among other life skills groups. RFL also houses our 24/7 crisis hotline.

With an office in the Cook County Domestic Violence Courthouse, the Legal Advocacy Program (LAP) assists clients, free of charge, with navigating the civil and criminal proceedings of the court, such as obtaining orders of protections. LAP also has advocates that work in the 3rd and 5th Chicago police districts to identify high-risk victims.

The Community Outreach Program (COP) offers support services for victims in a non-residential setting. COP pays special attention to the chronically underserved Latina community. They facilitate bilingual support groups and financial literary groups for survivors. COP also conducts workshops and presentations on recognizing and preventing domestic violence.
