SUMMARY Licences 17621m and 17622m were staked by Michele Noel for 61716 Newfoundland and Labrador Limited to cover two white marble prospects located in the Roddicton area of the Great Northern Peninsula. Both properties were visited and briefly prospected to confirm the previous work that had been conducted. Both properties were found to contain “white” marble however the material observed was found to be more on the cream to very light grey side of the color spectrum. INTRODUCTION A request for white marble from a marble producer in Nova Scotia resulted in Michele Noel staking two claim blocks for 61716 Newfoundland and Labrador Limited in the area immediately north of Roddicton on the Great Northern Peninsula. (Figures 1 and 2) Both areas contain very pure recrystallized limestone (calcitic marble) and have been previously staked for industrial mineral purposes. At the time 61716 Newfoundland and Labrador Limited was also conducting exploration work for dimension stone all over the island of Newfoundland.

LOCATION AND ACCESS The project areas are located 6 kilometers north of the town of Roddicton on the east side of the Great Northern Peninsula (Figure 1 and 2) which is located on the west coast of Newfoundland on the NTS 12I/16 map sheet. Both licenses are easily accessed by an abundance of woods roads. These roads bisect the properties, are in excellent condition, and can be easily travelled with a pick-up truck or ATV. (Figure 3)

PHYSIOGRAPHY The area consists of low, linear ridges and valleys (figure 4) which are underlain respectively by resistant dolostones and recessive marbles. Drainage in the area is excellent.

Figure 4 Looking west from a ridge on license 17621m

The area at the time of the site visit was heavily wooded however logging operations were just commencing and clear cutting is expected shortly. PROPERTY SUMMARY AND LICENCE STATUS The property (licenses 17621m and 17622m) consists of 6 and 7 claims respectively.. (Figure 5) Both were initially staked by E. Michele Noel for 61716 Newfoundland and Labrador Limited in April of 2010. The license was officially transferred to 61716 Newfoundland and Labrador Limited in September of 2010 and then back to Michele Noel in April of 2011. All claims are in good standing.

PREVIOUS WORK The area was regionally mapped by Knight in 1987. Also in 1987 EEC International carried out an extensive field program in the area evaluating the quality and quantity of the white marble in the area.

GENERAL GEOLOGY (from MODS data 012I/16 Mrb007)

Lower Paleozoic platformal rocks form one of three geologic terrains in the Roddickton (12I/16) map area. The platformal rocks occupy the northern part of the map area and narrow southward adjacent to the shores of Chimney Arm and Bide Arm. Here they are wedged between the mountainous Precambrian terrain of the Long Range Inlier to the west and the hilly Hadrynian to Early Paleozoic Hare Bay Allochthon to the east. Contained within this Lower Paleozoic platformal terrain are rocks ranging from volcanic through siliciclastic to carbonate in composition, and from undeformed (in the northwest) to strongly tectonized and metamorphosed in the east. In the west and northwest, the autochthonous strata unconformably overlie Precambrian basement. However, roughly east of a line that passes north along Chimney Arm to just west of Lanes Pond, the platformal succession is parautochthonous, and Cambrian and

Ordovician rocks are repeated in a number of regional thrust slices (Knight, 1987).

LOCAL GEOLOGY Both claim blocks are underlain by light grey marbles and marble breccias. (Figure 7) In general the ridges are composed of dolomitic compositions and the valleys are dominantly calcitic.

CURRENT PROGRAM The current program consisted of a site visit and some limited prospecting to evaluate the potential of both claims blocks as a source of dimension stone. In addition an attempt was made to visit the Mud Pond showing, a developed prospect located on licence 17622M. Both claims blocks are interpreted to be underlain by the same unit as indicated on the government geology map. (Figure 8)

Figure 8 Government geology map showing both claim blocks

WORK DONE Work was performed in late November 2010. A total of 4 days was spent working in the area. Two of these days were spent travelling from St. Johns to the project area and returning. Two days were spent visiting the claim blocks and conducting limited prospecting. Work was conducted from a motel in Plum Point. Access to the general area was by pick up however an ATV was used to travel the woods roads. It was during this time that it was determined that a pick up could have been used on the woods roads as well.

RESULTS Licence 17621m

Licence 17621m was found to contain light grey to very light grey marble. As mentioned earlier, in general, the high ground appeared to contain massive marble and marble breccia while in the low ground it appeared more fractured or jointed. In several areas it appeared that either road construction or some stripping had taken place which exposed the bedrock (Figure 9)

Figure 9 Marble exposed in road bed

A large ridge in the center of the claim block as briefly prospected. At this location the marble in bedrock appeared to be fairly competent. (Figure 10) Road construction had been unable to rip up blocks as seen elsewhere indicating that the material here would be suitable for dimension stone.

8

Some of the road bed outcrops did exhibit evidence of bedding (figure 11) and were showing parting along the bedding planes however it is believed that this is a function of frost shattering and that the marble would firm up below the frost line.

Figure 11 Frost shattering along bedding planes in marble.

Licence 17622m License 17622m contains the Mud Pond prospect. This is categorized as a developed prospect in the MODS data and had been examined for its industrial mineral potential. While the prospect itself was not visited, rocks along strike of the prospect located in a rock cut on one of the woods roads were examined. These were located in a valley and found to consist of blocky off white-light grey calcitic marble. (Figures 12 and 13) Like that seen on license 17621m it is possible that the blocky features are simply a surficial feature related to frost shattering and that there is competent material at depth.

Figure 12 Blocky marble ripped up by road construction.

Figure 13 Light grey marble in rock cut.

Some of the marble in the road cuts was found to be a moderate grey colour. No marble possessing a true bright white color was observed in any outcrops on the property.

10

CONCLUSIONS AND RECCOMMENDATIONS Both claim blocks contain extensive outcroppings of marble however neither were found to contain any bright white examples. Claim block 17621m, on the first pass, appears to contain better looking material and contains a ridge in the center of the claim block that would be very conducive to quarrying. The ridge is bisected by a resource road and is therefore easily accessible and there is a large pond and river nearby which would be a suitable water source. The material also appears to be competent at this location. Further work is warranted, especially on claim block 17621m to determine the quantity and consistency of the marbles in this area for use as a dimension stone. The Mud Pond prospect on claim block 17622m should be examined to see if it represents a true white marble and to determine if blasting at the prospect has ruined its potential as a dimension stone.
