Youth Ministry
Recently, members of the Youth Ministry went on a Midnight Run. We are blessed to have served so many homeless of NYC. This would not have been possible without the generosity of so many people. We thank the Men’s club for organizing a clothing drive, our parishioners for donating coats and blankets, our school for proving underwear, socks, sandwiches, juices, fruit cups, and dessert. We would like to extend our thanks to Claudio from Park Place Bagels for his donation of sandwich bags to pack the lunches. Also a special thank you to all the parent volunteers, who shopped, helped the school children make the lunches and for the parents who drove our youth ministry members into the city to serve. This was truly a parish wide event. We thank you for all of your support. Members of the Youth Ministry will be helping with the Confirmation retreats and the Cardinal’s Stewardship Appeal during the month of February. Any high school student or parent that would like to be put on the youth ministry email list, please contact Antoinette

LENTEN FAST AND ABSTINENCE During the Season of Lent, the Church urges all the Faithful to reflect a spirit in penance in their daily life through performing acts of fast and abstinence and works of
charity. “FASTING” requires that only one full meal be taken per day. Two other smaller meals may be taken during the day to maintain physical strength, but these two meals together should not equal a full meal in quantity. Fasting obliges all those who have reached the age of 18 and continues to oblige until age 59. Those not specifically obliged to fast are encouraged to join in the discipline of fasting to the extent that they are able. “ABSTINENCE” prohibits individuals from eating meat on a particular day. Abstinence obliges all those who have reached the age of 14 and continues to oblige throughout their entire life. Those not specifically obliged to abstain from eating meat are encouraged to join in this discipline to the extent that they are able. ASH WEDNESDAY and GOOD FRIDAY are days of fast and abstinence. FRIDAYS in Lent are days of abstinence EASTER DUTY OBLIGATION After they have been initiated into the Most Holy Eucharist, Catholics are bound by the obligation of receiving Communion at least
once a year. This precept should be fulfilled during the Easter Season. Catholics are also bound to confess serious mortal) sins at least once a year, but this is not limited to the Lenten / Easter Season
.
