MORNING WORSHIP SERVICE

Sunday, October 25, 2015, 10:00 a.m.

ORGAN PRELUDE:

Prelude on “Now Let Us All Praise God and Sing”

Gordon Young (1919-1998)

ANNOUNCEMENTS

*[Please stand for the lighting of the candles]

CALL TO WORSHIP (responsive)

Blessed be the name of God, from this time on and forevermore.

From the rising of the sun to it’s setting, the name of God is to be

praised.

It is good to give thanks to God, to sing praises to your name, O Most

High;

To declare your steadfast love in the morning and your faithfulness

by night.

*HYMN: “O for a Thousand Tongues to Sing” NCH #42

PRAYER OF INVOCATION

Come, O creator, O Immensity of Love, O Eternity of Mercy.

Come, and be with us and in us and beside us and over us. Be as

hands upon us and fashion us for shining. Be as warmth within us

and fire us for caring. Be as strength beside us, and shape our lives

for healing. Abide in our prayers, the spoken and the unspoken,

and make your Word come true in our flesh; through Jesus Christ,

our Redeemer, who taught us to pray together…

*THE LORD'S PRAYER (trespasses) Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on

earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we

forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory forever. Amen.

Please welcome our Guest Minister this morning, Rev. Rona Tyndall

Rev. Rona Tyndall serves as the Senior Chaplain at Care Dimensions

(formerly Hospice of the North Shore) and as the Outreach Coordinator

for The Grace Center, a drop in resource center for homeless and

vulnerable adults. Previously, she served churches in Vermont and

Massachusetts. She received her M. Div from Andover Newton and is

ordained in the United Church of Christ. Rev. Tyndall lives in

Gloucester with a Sicilian Mastiff named Ettore. Rev. Tyndall will be

speaking at Soup & Conversation following worship.

Join us for Soup & Conversation today in

the Chapel, we will have a conversation

about the Grace Center in Gloucester

featuring Rev. Rona Tyndall.

First Parish Church will be hosting a “Soup &

Conversation” on Sunday, October 25. All are

welcome to join us for a conversation with Rev.

Rona Tyndall about The Grace Center of

Gloucester. In the winter of 2009, the Cape Ann

Clergy Association recognized an increasing number of requests for help

from low-income and homeless adults. A Needs Assessment Study

identified a number of pressing needs including the absence of a safe

day space for the homeless in Gloucester. On December 22, 2011, the

Grace Center, Inc. opened as a day resource center with professional

staff and volunteers.

Come learn more about those we serve and how you can help. Soup &

Conversation is a luncheon event with discussion led by guest speakers.

Each event is open to all and we hope you can join us at the Chapel at 1

Chapel Lane Manchester, MA at 11:30 AM for this event.
