Objectives

1. Select a focus when writing.

2. Identify the main idea of a story.

3. Choose details or sentences that agree with or do not belong with the main idea.

Directions

• Read each paragraph aloud.• Use response cards:

green = sentence belongsred = sentence does not belong

NOTE:• The powerpoint is set up to put main idea (title) in center of

circle map.• Sentences that belong will change to green and stay inside

circle.• Sentences that does not belong will change to red and will be

placed outside of circle.

one belongs- green) it will move into the circle map. The other 2 do not belong- red) they will move to the outside of circle.

which one would make a good ending green) it will be placed in the circle. Other 2 sentences (do not belong- they will be placed outside of circle.
