Greetings First B Family!! “Wash Me Over Again”

Recently during a nursing clinical rotation I had yet another eye opening experience. This particular day I was bathing patients which is a routine task in nursing. But this par-ticular day it was far from the routine. I pro-

ceeded to bathe the patient like normal and to my surprise the pa-tient’s face and hands were filthy. Patients are bathed daily so it surprised me to see the amount of dirt that remained on this pa-tient. The uncleanliness of the patient angered me. I calmed down and proceeded to wash the patient over and over again until he was clean. After leaving clinicals that day I began to reflect on my experience. The patient looked clean but yet he was dirty. To the eye, the patient looked clean, but a closer look de-termined that he was filthy. How many of us look clean spiritually but when we take a closer look we see hidden dirt? We bathe in the Word but we still have some unclean areas (dirt) in our lives. Just like the filth on the patient angered me, the filth in our lives angers God. What makes us dirty? Those things that we have in our lives that

are not Godly. Dirty attitudes and behaviors, bitterness against people who have hurt us, judgmental thoughts about people we don’t like, anger, fear, selfishness, bad habits;; all of these things keep us dirty. Dawn, Tide or Dove cannot wash this dirt away. The only way to cleanse ourselves is to be washed over by God. Daily bathing in God by spending time in His Word, having a relationship

with Him and allowing Him to wash us over again is the only way we can become clean. Psalm 51:7 says “Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean;; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow”. God’s washing is the best cleansing we could ever have, whiter than snow, you can’t get cleaner than that. Wash me over again, wash me over again. In your precious blood, wash me over again.

Be Blessed, Sis. Whit

Nick Moyer is the son of Bell and Ken Moyer. He is a senior at Magna Vista High School. Nick tried out and made the Jr. basketball team his freshman year. Halfway thru the season he was moved to the Varsity team.

Thru his hard work and God’s favor he has accomplished some great things this year. Nick was named Piedmont District player of the year, selected as a member of the first-team all Region IV team.

He earned this spot by doing a little bit of everything. For the season, he scored 12.1 points per game and grabbed 8.1 rebounds per contest and dished out 2.7 assists. On the defensive, his quick hands allowed him to be in position for 2.1 steals per game. “He did whatever the team needed,’’ Magna Vista coach Kevin Johnson said. “He was the key to our fast break because he was normally the guy pushing the ball up the floor.’’

The members of First Baptist are so very proud of you Nick for your hard work and dedication!! May God continue to bless you.

Gospel Explosion Was A Success! God be the Glory !! It was an evening of musical ministry to all who was

present. We were blessed with the Gospel singing of all the groups. The mu-sic was rendered by God’s Annointed, Gospel Connection, Georgia Ramey

and Evangelist Toni Webster. A friend of Rev. Whitfields, Pastor David Battle from Gastonia, North Carolina was also on the program. He plays with the Fantastic Violonaires of Detroit. Our souls were sung happy on this stormy evening! All groups gave of their time and talents and were

greatly appreciated. This fundraiser was held Saturday March 24th at 6p.m. at First Baptist Church sponsored by the indigo team. All proceeds will go to our building fund for our Rainbow tea. God bless everyone who helped

to make this evening a special successful event.

Macon, Georgia Trip Members of First Baptist Church and several Community friends travelled to Macon, GA to share in the 5th Anniversary Celebration of Pastor Derek

Dumas, of the Greater Lizzieboro Baptist Church. God blessed us with won-derful traveling weather and a great experience while there. The attendees went to Smiley's Flea Market, which has nearly 1000 vendors. They were

able to experience the Cherry Blossom Festival. Lizzieboro provided a fried fish and cheese grits for the members on Saturday evening, and Sunday's service was powerful in worship, and Pastor Whitfield brought the 11:00

a.m. Anniversary message. Thanks to all who attended!!

Black History Month Valerie King was worship leader, for our Black History Program in February. The Women’s Day Choir sung a variety of selections, Althea Brown spoke on

housework and the way things were done "back in the day", Catherine Hairston spoke on education and schools and the changes through the years and Deacon James Noel spoke on the church and its role through the years

under the title of “Reflections of our Heritage”. The praise dancers performed and Rev Whitfield made comments on the accomplishments we have made

and the obstacles we have to overcome in the present time.

Violet Team The Spaghetti Dinner the Violet Team hosted in March was a great success.

We would like to thank each of you for your support.

Why Is My Body Falling Apart? -By Dr. Scott Stoll, Chief Medical Director - Eat Right America

Every day in my office, patients recite these words: “Help! My body is falling apart!”

Have you ever wondered why your body begins to fall apart and seems to do so at an alarming pace? Often, one system starts to fail, which can trigger a cascade of disease that begins to wash away both health and quality of life. Here are a few reasons why your body begins to fall apart that – more importantly – represent opportunities to

begin recapturing your health:

Accumulated Injury We live in a world that is subject to the second law of thermodynamics, which states that everything – including your body after age 20 – is in a state of increasing disorder unless energy is expended to

maintain the system. So, what are the implications? Each day, we are bombarded with potential threats (e.g., the food we eat, excessive physical and/or mental stress, toxins, and radiation) to the health of our cells. Once cells are

damaged, it is up to your body to begin repairing them – but if the damage is excessive or if your system is not healthy, some of the cells are left unrepaired. Slowly over time, the amount of damage accumulates, often without any

symptoms until a tipping point is reached. This is the point when disease manifests in the form of symptoms and represents years of accumulated injury and damage.

Diet In the game of life, diet is king. The food you eat is never neutral. It either promotes healthy cells and repairs damage or it causes cell injury, damage and disease. Over the past 100 years, the average Western diet has

gradually slid down the slippery slope of taste and pleasure, and today is vastly different than that of our grandparents. In 1900, for example, the average person ate five pounds of sugar in a year, didn’t drink soda, ate 131 pounds of

homegrown vegetables and consumed very little oil. Compare this to the year 2000 when the average person consumed 200 pounds of sugar, 53 gallons of soda, 11 pounds of homegrown vegetables and 30 pounds of refined

oils. The differences are staggering and highlight the dangerous state of the Western diet.

Activity Your body was built to move; movement actually promotes healthy cells and a healthy body. DNA is activated by movement and stimulates cell repair, regeneration and healing. Inactivity creates an environment that

leads to impaired healing, tissue degeneration, imbalance and disease in multiple systems. Once again, modern society has changed the way we live and work, and has created a sedentary culture. Today, we try to find time in our schedule

to exercise compared to our ancestors who looked to find times for physical rest.

Stress Stress has always been a part of humans’ lives throughout the ages. Some forms of stress (eustress) push us to improve in areas such as exercise and education. Other forms of stress (distress) insidiously damage our

cells and accelerate the disease process. Living in a 24-hour, seven-day a week culture creates unnatural stressors and often deprives us of opportunities to escape, release and re-gather before moving forward. Dr. Hans Selye is the father

of modern stress research, and his studies proved that external mental and emotional stressors produce significant and potentially damaging effects on the body – especially when the stressors are applied over a long period of time.

Dr. Scott Stoll is a board-certified specialist in physical medicine and rehabilitation. He currently serves as the medical director for the Back and Neck Center at Coordinated Health, chairman of the Department of Physical

Medicine and Rehabilitation and team physician for Lehigh University. His practice specializes in treating musculoskeletal injuries through regenerative therapies and improving health through nutritional excellence.

Most Baptist churches have a committee or a group of trustworthy members in place to watch over the church and its assets. These individuals are called “trustees”. Here at First Baptist we have six trustees who have agreed to take on the

responsibility of being good stewards over all that God has blessed us with. The trustees are overseers of all the parameters of the church from the physical caretaking of the church to the monetary disbursements. They are in charge of securing services that may be needed for the maintenance of the prop-erty in a timely and orderly manner. They have a legal responsibility to oversee all the needs of the church and are di-

rected by our by-laws to seek the churches permission when the expenditures exceed the permitted limit. As we continue to grow in our season we need to rely on our trustees to do all that is in the best interest of First Baptist. The time they spend “behind the scenes” to keep our affairs in order and the dedication it takes to do what is

needed, when it’s needed. Larry D. Hodge, Wayne Moore, Eugene David, Lisa France, Cecil France and Morris Geter we THANK YOU

And may your works speak for you

‘’LETTING GOD USE ME’’ We honor one from among our church family who has

devoted her musical gifts and talents for more than forty years. In her own words ’’I am letting God use me.

I am doing what the Lord put me here to do and I love doing it!’ Her long dedication to the music ministry is a

clear indication that she must have sensed and under-stood the words of Jeremiah 29:11, where God revealed his plans for the prophets life when he said,”11 For I

know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, ‘’ plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’’

What we do for ourselves alone dies with us; what we do for others and the world re-mains and is immortal.”--------- Albert Pike

It would have been an easy choice for her to use her musical gifts and benefit and promote her own personal interest by seeking to propel herself into the secular

world of entertainment . That choice might have resulted in personal fame and for-tune for her; but instead she chose to share her gifts with the people of God for the

glory of God. For over forty years Sis. Georgia has played the piano and sung for morning services, revival services, weddings, funerals, anniversaries, dedications

and more. Whatever occasion you need her for just ask.

We recognize the hand of God in her lifelong music ministry. We thank God for the musical gifts and talents that he has seen fit and purposed to place in you. Long be-

fore you were even born , God had to know that He could trust you not to hide or withhold those gifts from others but to glorify Him.

We give thanks and praise to God for all he has invested in you, we also applaud and thank Sis. Georgia for the obedience to the special call God has placed on her life.

We honor you for faithfully letting your light shine through the dedication and the fulfillment of Gods purpose in your life. In so doing, you have exalted God Almighty

and elevated each of us with your beautiful music. To God Be The Glory!!

Sister Georgia is married to Benjamin Ramey Sr. and a faithful member at First Bap-tist Church. They have two children, Evangelist Toni Webster and Benjamin Ramey
