Vision Sunday

NEXT Sunday, January 19th, 2014 is Vision Sunday. Through Chosen 300 Ministries

(www.chosen300.org), we have the opportunity to continue our feeding program in Nigeria. It costs

$400 monthly or $4800 yearly.

This year any money collected above $4800 will go toward the First Baptist Church of Crestmont

building fund. The Pastor is asking that each member bring a sacrificial offering of at least $100

ABOVE your normal tithes & offerings. The following is a list of ways you can save toward the

$100 or more for vision Sunday:

Bag your lunch and bring it to work The average person spends about $5-$7 a day, by vision Sunday; you can save $345-$483

Create a savings jar

At the end of the day, place all your loose change in a saving jar. The average person saves be-

tween $10 and $20 a week. By vision Sunday, you can save $100-$200

Car pool to church

Gas is about $3.57 a gallon. By vision Sunday, you can save about $400

Buy wholesale

Why get 9-ply fancy-paper towels when you can get the same fancy brand name for 3/4th the

price? Go to Sam’s club, or BJ’s to get your household needs at wholesale bargain prices. By vi-

sion Sunday, you can save about $120

Make your calendar work for you.

Haircuts, pedicures, manicures, massages, car wash, etc.: If you do one of these activities

(services) once a week, why not make it every 2-3 weeks? You can save money by stretching these

out over a longer period of time. Average savings: about $25 a week. By vision Sunday, you can

save about $175

Get rid of those cancer sticks.

Smoking will kill you and in the meantime, stain your teeth, make your clothes and hair smell, and

eat your cash alive. This one is more about saving your life than saving your money. Average

savings: $20 a week. By vision Sunday, you can save $200

Cut out the junk food

Junk food eaters may not realize it, but they spend a whole lot of money each day buying candy

bars, cakes, etc. Average savings: $5-$10 a week. By vision Sunday, you can save $50-$100

Stop playing the Lottery

Single state lotteries usually have odds of about 18 million to 1 while multiple state lotteries have

odds as high as 120 million to 1. You are 6 to 45 times more likely to die from a lightning strike

than you are to “hit” the lottery. Average savings: $25-$50 a week. By vision Sunday, you can

save $250-$500

Have stuff lying around? Have a yard sale.

One man’s trash is another man’s treasure. If you put stuff on eBay or Craig’s list, make sure to do

a search and see what similar items are selling for, and remember to consider the seller fees. How

much money you make depends on the stuff you have.

ATTENTION all new members!!

Leader: It’s time to give!

Congregation: Praise the Lord!

Leader: Everything in heaven and on earth belongs to You!

Congregation: Help us to realize that everything we have-- our

houses, our cars, our clothes, our jobs, our money, and even our very

lives-- all belong to You.

Leader: Bring ye all tithes into the storehouse, that there may be

food in My house; “Try Me now in this,” says the Lord of hosts,

“And see if I will not open up for you the windows of heaven and

pour you out such a blessing that there will not have room enough to

Congregation: If God did not spare His own Son, Jesus Christ, but

gave Him up for us all; will He not also-- along with Christ-- gra-

for us all; we will not offer to God that which costs us nothing. (2

Reading of the Word

“Don’t Talk About It”

Matthew 1:18-25 (NKJV)

18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: After His mother

Mary was betrothed to Joseph, before they came together, she was

found with child of the Holy Spirit.

19 Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not wanting to

make her a public example, was minded to put her away secretly.

20 But while he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the

Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do

not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is con-

ceived in her is of the Holy Spirit.

21 And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name JESUS,

for He will save His people from their sins.”

22 So all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by

the Lord through the prophet, saying:

23 “Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they

shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.”

24 Then Joseph, being aroused from sleep, did as the angel of the

Lord commanded him and took to him his wife,

25 and did not know her till she had brought forth her firstborn Son.

And he called His name JESUS.
