Presidents Report for February HelloMembers,Amonth’s gone by already in 2016 andwe thought last yearwas busy and it was very successful withour10thSummerShowcaseandourgallerygoingfromstrengthtostrength,butalreadythisyearisshapinguptobeaveryactiveyear.Firstcaboff therankisourthirdexhibitionattheGlasshouse“PathwaystoAbstraction”.Openingnightisthe5thofFebruaryandrunsthroughto20thMarch.TheAssociationhasanumberofactivitiesduringtheexhibitionwhichislistedinthisedition.Wehavemetwith theManningRegionalGallerynewdirectorNoellaLopezandCurator JaneHoskingalongwithmembersofTareeandGreatLakesartgroupsforourjointexhibition,Confluence.Noellaexpressedviewsthatbroadenthecriteriafromouroriginalideasonthemeaningof“Confluence”seeKimMadden’sarticleinthisissue.Thedateoftheexhibitionhasbeenchangedto17thNovember2016-22ndJanuary2017.WehaveinvitedbothNoellaandJanetoaspecialmeetingonthe8thMarchtoaddressthemembersandtheyhaveagreedsotofindoutmorepleaseattend.(Seespecialnoticeinthisissue)Arisingfrom theSummerShowcasewhile itdidnotmeetotheryears’expectationon salesandprofit,wehavemade enough after our costs to donate $ 1000 to theHastingsWomen and children’s Refuge.With thedonation from Slice of Haven last year of $600 we have now donated $1600 to the refuge which is a goodachievement.BrianBarkerPresident

Again our latest exhibition “A Passion for Paint” looksstunning. Thank you to our hanging team who worked sotirelessly tomake thegallery suchapleasure for visitors.Oursecond exhibition ‘preview’ was a great success with morepeopleshowingupthistime,evenuninvitedguestswanderingupfromthebeach.We’lldefinitelymakethisaregularevent.

Openingnightwehad97guests.We displayed 222 paintings, 64 artists exhibited 10 non-members, last year 76 artists and 14 non-members, only 3fromlastyearexhibitedagainthisyearandoneisgoingtojoinus.515 visitors voted, People’s Choice was won by Jan Wilson,LakeCathie33votesfollowedbyRogerSpeaight,FallingRain18. All the rest were ranging from 16 to 1 vote, there wereonly12outof64artistswhodidn’tgetavoteforatleastoneoftheirpaintings.I would like to thank all who helped with the set-up of theexhibition, its hard work.
