YOUR IDEAL TARGET TRIBE MEMBER.Finding your ideal writing style and authentic version of communication is some-thing that will occur after you have been blogging for a while. As with any activity, you will improve the more you do. However there is one ideal step that you can take now, regardless of whether you’re winning the ‘blogging pulitzer’ or not.

And that is understanding your target tribe inside out. Having a view inside the head and life of your target tribe is going to put you ahead when it comes time to turn that tribe into buyers and raving fans.

When I started The Whole Daily, I didn’t have a target tribe I was writing to and I created a lot of content that was of average quality and attracted a wide range of people. I found it harder to market my first products and services and I constantly felt a little lost when it came time to thinking about ‘what do audience really want from me?’

Imagine how much easier it would be that every time you sat down at your desk, you could envisage exactly who you want to connect with your content! This makes it so much easier to write.

Knowing your ideal target tribe member will also make creating marketing content, Pins, social media posts, videos, audios and of course your products and services that much more effective!

What I find interesting about this activity, is that in the past I poo-pooed it a LOT. Call if whatever you want... The unique audience, your custom customer, your cus-tomer avatar, your target audience, your target reader... same thing, and I thought, what a waste of my time, what baloney, I can rock this blog without knowing where my target tribe member shops (F.F.S!).

Then I reached a point in my business where I was feeling a little lost and so I did this activity and it worked. It’s how I have now worked on AliceNicholls.com since it’s inception and has helped me gain profit success from the business much faster than if I was writing to ‘who-ever’ or to me.

I tend to tie the successful habits of profit-bloggers together with how large success-ful businesses run and you better believe that Nordstroms, Apple, H&M, TopShop, Uber and Zara all have an intimate knowledge of their Target Tribe Member.

In fact, most super-successful global retailers actually have psychologists assisting in working out the layers of their target tribe members.

This is serious business!

The reason these companies spend so much to understand their target tribe mem-bers? It makes them so much more money on the flip-side.

So, how do we begin to understand who our target tribe member is?

Let’s two-step!

We are going to work through a two-step process to help you create an under-standing of your target tribe member. Lock down their demographics, habits and behaviours and then use these to create a sweet profile for your target tribe member that will make them realer than real in your mind and when you go to make and create with your blog.

STEP ONE

GATHER YOUR INFO

You will need to think in depth about your target tribe member, who they are and what they do.

There IS an even more impactive way of completing step one if you’re able to, and that is to actually interview a real-live target tribe member.

My target tribe member is actually a real and current member of both my health course and Blog To Profit. When I create I create with her in mind, when I market I market with her in mind.

Note: I have not added digital text boxes for the information gathering section of this activity. - step one. It will have a much greater impact if you print the pages out and write into them while interviewing a target tribe member or considering who it may be.

The attachment also covers step two - creating a profile - which you can either type into or print and fill out in hand writing.

I recommend having your answers visible to you as you work or at least print your finished Target Tribe Member profile out and keep it visible.

STEP TWO

CREATE YOUR PROFILE

Now is the time to take this information and create an actual profile of this Target Tribe Member.

For example, meet Amber.

Amber is 34 years old, is University educated and works in a corporate role at a city firm in Sydney. Amber is happily married and doesn’t have kids. She does an exercise class once or twice a week, walks her dog and has coffee and breakfast dates with her husband.

Her biggest expense each week is rent and then groceries. Amber also invests her disposable income in weekend and after-work or weekend seminars and events on health and life topics and purchases books and eBooks on personal and professional development. She has started a blog as a way of testing the waters for a more creative life, is loving her experience with it and is dedicating multiple hours each week to her knew passion.

Amber wears Lorna Jane exercise clothes on the weekend or Cue work dresses during the week. She reads blogs like Move Nourish Believe by Lorna Jane and follows mentors on-line such as Danielle LaPorte, Brene Brown, Kris Carr and Gabrielle Bernstein.

Amber is happy and positive when it comes to life and her friends love her energy and bright attitude.

IN CLOSINGI am aware that for some, this activity may seem naff. If this is you, I ask that you humour me in this.

When you gather your info and then begin to profile your Target Tribe Member, I feel sure that you will reach an AHA point in your work.

This may be that you realise where you’ve been misdirecting your work or mis-branding your work. Perhaps you will finally see clarity in how you will message your ideas in your niche or how you will approach the product or service you’re go-ing to create! Remember... all of the biggest global brands have a Target Tribe Mem-ber profile. Why not you?
