The Library GuideLund University Libraries – LUB

Page 2: Find your library

Lund University has one of Sweden’s oldest and largest libraries. Today some 30 faculty, departmental and centre libraries in Lund, Malmö and Helsingborg form a network – lub. The libraries have a vital role in both the effective dissemination and storing of information. lub offers students and staff library and information services in their own subject field. At all libraries you find textbooks, refer-ence literature and reader seats and most libraries also provide wireless Internet con-nection and areas for group studies and com-puter work. The libraries’ resources, e.g. the library catalogue Lovisa and the electronic

library ELIN@Lund, are of course always available. There are links to all lub electronic services at the lub website. All students and researchers have a lub home library, in most cases the library which is most closely connected to their subject area. It’s always best to consult your home library when you need particular services like inter-library loans, guidance in information searching or when you need a library card. Library cards are valid at all network libraries. You will find more information about the network libraries at their respective web-sites, which you will readily find through www.lub.lu.se.

The Lund University Libraries’ catalogue Lovisa helps you to find the library which has the literature you require, if it’s for loan or if you need to order it. You can also check and renew your loans, change your contact infor-mation or apply for a library card. You will be issued with a library card on a personal visit to one of the LUB libraries. If you are a distance student you are welcome to contact your subject library by email – read more at www.lub.lu.se. All persons who are resident in Sweden and are 18 years or over can be issued with a library card. The library card is valid at all lub libraries but the regulations defining lending periods and what types of material you may borrow vary between the network

libraries. There are particular rules for guest students and researchers. Please refer to www.lub.lu.se for more information. Students and staff of Lund University may request inter-library loans of books and journal articles that are not available at lub. You can order an inter-library loan via your home library. Order forms are available at the websites of the respective libraries. Inter-library loans from libraries in the Nordic countries are free of charge. Inter-library loans from outside the Nordic countries are always subject to a fee, as are ordered copies of articles.
