The Optiflow service allows more flexibility

during maintenance periods when there

are works on the core of GRTgaz

transmission network.

Thanks to this new service, restrictions are

now mutualised on different points point

groups (ou groups of points), called

superpoints. Thus, you can optimise your

nominations and maximise your favorite

point.

Who is concerned?

You are concerned if you use one of the North entry points, among the PITTM Dunkirk LNG

and the PIR Dunkirk, Virtualys, Obergailbach and Oltingue (backhaul).

Optiflow : more flexibility and more capacity

More flexibility

Let’s take the example of works that reduce by 2 the

capacity on a group of 2 points: 500 instead of 1,000

(in GWh/d). Formerly, GRTgaz divided up this

constraint by point (250 and 250). Thanks to

Optiflow, shippers have the choice: you can for

instance choose to maximise the point A (500 + 0).

More capacity

Your exit confirmation within a superpoint allow you to nominate more in entry within the same

superpoint.

Example: superpoint « A+B-C », C is an exit. We suppose there is the same constraint than in

the previous example: max (A+B-C) = 500.

The quantities you have scheduled on C (e.g. 100) offer you a proportionate increase of the

flexibility you have to nominate in entry (500+100=600 sur A+B).

Summers 2017 & 2018: 4 superpoints during works

For both 2017 & 2018 summers, superpoints during works are:

● SP1 : DKGNL + DK

● SP2 : DKGNL+ DK + Virtualys

● SP3 : Virtualys + Obergailbach

● SP4 : Virtualys + Obergailbach –

Oltingue

How could you visualise your restrictions on a point?

To visualise your restrictions on a point, you must consider the restrictions on this point (PCR)

as well as on all superpoints that include this point. This applies to the maintenance works

program and to the visualisation of your operational capacities.

Then, they will change when the

single market place will be put in

operation on November 1st, 2018.

Example for a day when SP3 is active with an individual capacity restriction on Obergailbach:

The checking of the maintenance works program

For instance, if you want to visualise restrictions on PIR Dunkirk in entry, you must take into

account:

- Restrictions only on PIR Dunkirk in entry: TRF 22.48 % and TRI 100 %

- Restrictions on SP1 (Dunkirk +DKLNG): TRF 1.66 %

- Restrictions on SP2 (Dunkirk +DKLNG - ALV +TH): there are no restrictions on SP2 for

the day we consider in this example

If you want to see capacity restrictions on PIR Obergailbach (entry), TRANS@ctions

automatically shows the restrictions of all the superpoints that are including Obergailbach (SP3

& SP4), as well as individual restriction of Obergailbach point. So, in the example above:

- Restrictions on SP3 (Virtualys + Obergailbach): TRF 43.16%

- Restrictions on PIR Obergailbach only (entry): TRF 67.27%

- Restrictions on SP3 (Virtualys + Obergailbach - Oltingue) : there are none in the

example

- The last line is about the restriction on Obergailbach point (SP4) and has the same

information as the previous line (SP3)

Checking of your operational capacities

Your operational capacities are displayed by superpoint, and then by point the superpoint

includes.

For instance, if you want to know your restrictions on PIR Obergailbach, you must take into

account:

- COE of the PIR Obergailbach (in the table, you can see the COE several times, below

each superpoint that includes this point)

- COE of SP3 (Virtualys + Obergailbach)

- COE of SP4 (Virtualys + Obergailbach - Oltingue): it is not restrictive

A client who subscribes only on Obergailbach point (and who doesn’t subscribe on Virtualys)

has to take the minimum between the COE of Obergailbach and the COE of SP3 to know the

reduced capacity on Obergailbach for this day.

How could you visualise the UBI available?

A superpoint is active when its CTE is strictly less than the sum of the technical capacities of

entry points this superpoint includes.

When a superpoint is active, the sales of daily and infra-daily capacities on the entry points

this superpoint includes is are stopped. Then, the UBI service is opened on these entry points,

with the superpoint scale. For instance, if SP3 is active, a non-used capacity in Obergailbach

could be used for Virtualys (up to the limit of the possible capacity reduction on Virtualys).

To visualise the UBI available on a point:

- If this is an entry point including into an active superpoint: the UBI is opened on this

point, the available UBI is displayed for the concerned superpoint and not for the

particular point (e.g. here for Virtualys and Obergailbach, there are 245 GWh/d of UBI

on Virtualys + Ober - Oltingue). The UBI is also calculated by point but is not displayed

(for example here, as the point Obergailbach is restricted, there might be little UBI

available on Obergailbach alone ; then, there will be more UBI left for Virtualys)

- If this is not an entry point including into an active superpoint or if it is an exit point: if

the UBI is opened for this point, it is displayed for the particular point (e.g. here it is

Oltingue, North-South or Taisnières B).

How could you maximise your nominations?

You keep nominating by point (and not by superpoint), even if restriction are visible by

superpoint. GRTgaz makes a tool to help you nominate available on TRANS@ctions. Thanks

to this tool, you can estimate the guaranteed quantities by point, depending on:

- your nominations on the other points

- the quantities you have already scheduled (also called “already flowed quantities”) (pro-

rata temporis).

To assess if your nomination could be accepted, you only have to write it in the column “net

quantity”:

- If the box becomes red, it means you have nominated less than the already flowed

quantity: the nomination may not be accepted

- If the box remains colourless, your nomination respects your firm rights on each point

and superpoint, and it takes into account the pro-rata temporis (already flowed quantity)

and nominations on other points of the table. You can see your right in the “maximum

guaranteed quantity” column

- If the box becomes orange, your nomination goes over your firm rights: it could be

accepted depending on the UBI that is available

The “remaining guaranteed quantity” column shows you the additional guaranteed quantity

you can nominate on each point. It corresponds to the difference between the maximum

guaranteed quantity and your nomination on the considered point.

How the confirmation is calculated?

If you nominate more than your guaranteed quantities, GRTgaz calculates confirmation thanks

to the 3 usual steps:

1) control of your subscription

2) calculation of the UBI that respects the rights

3) calculation of the UBI out of the rights

At each step, GRTgaz reduces your nominations if it is necessary to respect the constraints

by point and by superpoint (video tutorial “How are my nominations curtailed?”)

Your confirmation, as well as your allocation, are still published by PCR.

Example of a confirmation calculation: active superpoint

In the following example, to make it easier to understand we consider only 1 step for the UBI

(we don’t make any difference between UBI into rights and out of the rights). Here is an

example of the calculation of a confirmation for a client who has subscribed 100 on TH and

100 on Obergailbach, with a restriction rate of 50% on Virtualys + Obergailbach.

Example of a confirmation calculation: active superpoint + reduction on a

particular point

In the following example, to make it easier to understand we also consider only 1 step for the

UBI. Here is an example of the calculation of a confirmation for a client who has subscribed

100 on Obergailbach, with a restriction rate of 50% on Virtualys + Obergailbach and 60% on

Obergailbach.

Even if UBI is available on Virtualys + Obergailbach, the UBI demand of the client can’t be

achieved because the UBI offer is equal to zero on Obergailbach. However, clients on TH

receive the superpoint entire offer of UBI.
