FinanceLet’s face it, you love money. You think about it,
plan for it, spend it, save it, and manage it. You
are good with your money and would be good
with other people’s money. Have you consid-
ered a career in finance?
A finance professional must be skilled at
assessing how individuals and organizations
acquire, allocate, and use money—factoring in
the risks and rewards of each specific enterprise.
Whether you choose banking, securities,
insurance, or a similar field, the finance program
at the College of Business will enable you to
launch your career in institutional finance.
For example, if you enjoy working with
people and want to work on challenging
assignments, you might be cut out to become a
financial manager. Or you may enjoy working in
international banking operations or consumer
lending. You may work in the securities industry
as a stock and bond broker, security analyst, or
portfolio manager. Many finance professionals
work for government agencies, handling their
revenue and expenditure programs.
Advances in computer technology have made
finance more rigorous and analytical than ever
before. Today, in addition to developing skills in
finance and accounting, you must be knowledge-
able about statistical and quantitative methods,
systems analysis, and computer applications. At
the College of Business, you can acquire the
precise training required to excel in these areas.
Participating in finance-specific experiential
activities takes your learning outside the
classroom and into the real world. The Finance
Club hosts a variety of functions that give you
opportunities to meet potential employers.
The Investment Club invites you to become an
investor in the equity markets. You’ll come away
with more job prospects and a better under-
standing of what it takes to excel as a finance
professional.
Go forth and prosper.
