The TermsDirector: JASON LAMOTTEWriter: Jason LaMotteProducer: Allon WechslerUK, Narrative, 12 min., 2010SYNOPSIS: A father and son forge a twisted pact: one shot will decide between freedom and death. Based on the short story by Mike McCormack.

Director JASON LAMOTTE studied under American playwright Edward Albee, who produced one of his plays, The Magic Hour., in 2000. His

experimental film, THE POST MODERN MAN, earned him a gold medal at Worldfest in 2001. He has been a part of Los Angeles’ Group 101 Spots filmmaker collective, as well as Amazon Films. In 2004 he moved to London where he now directs corporate films and virals, and develops feature film projects.

BraidDirector: CHUN-YI HSEIHWriter: Chun-Yi HseihProducer: Gu QiaoTaiwan, Narrative, 15 min., 2011SYNOPSIS: Unable to cope with the accidental loss of his wife, an out of work father struggles to give his daughter the happiest day of her life.

Director CHUN-YI HSEIH is an award-winning director based in Taiwan. He is an M.F.A. candidate at NYU Tisch School of the Arts Asia’s Graduate Film program. His films have been screened by many

international film festivals including Tribeca and Melbourne. He is currently developing his thesis short film.

NoreenDirector: DOMHNALL GLEESONWriter: Domhnall GleesonProducers: Juliette Bonass, David Clarke, Ciaran DeeneyIreland, Narrative, 18 min., 2010SYNOPSIS: Two policemen learn life lessons on a house-call in rural Ireland. One is heartbroken. One is weary. They’re both alone. They’re both idiots.

Director DOMHNALL GLEESON is primarily known as an actor in film, theatre and television. He recently appeared in the Cohen

Brothers TRUE GRIT, and the final pair of Harry Potter films. He was nominated for a Tony in 2006 for the Broadway production of Lieutenant of Inishmore, and has recently been selected as one of the Berlin International Film Festival’s shooting stars. This is his second film, which stars his father Brendan.

ApolloDirector: FELIX GONNERTTAnimation: Felix Gonnert, Ina Marczinczik, Martin FreitagProducer: Felix GonnertGermany, Animation, 6 min., 2010SYNOPSIS: A tiny rocket makes in impact on a big wish. Seen form a distance, the earth is the most beautiful place in space.

Director FELIX GONNERT is a native of Germany, where he received his degree in Animation at the HFF ‘Konrad Wolk’ University of FIlm and Television. He has since served as Lead Character Animator for CGI

feature productions and Animation Supervisor for a number of TV commercials. He is currently the Education Director in the Animation Department at HFF ‘Konrad Wolf.’

NightlifeDirector: SHANDOR GARRISONWriter: Shandor GarrisonProducer: Ryan HellerUSA, Narrative, 13 min., 2011SYNOPSIS: With nowhere else to go, a troubled teen from the Harlem projects seeks the help of his doorman father during a shift at work. When his father refuses to help, he forms a surprising bond with a lonely girl who feels trapped in the restrictions of her Upper East Side life.

Director SHANDOR GARRISON is an award-winning filmmaker from Brooklyn. In addition to making 11 short films and the Web series BROOKLYN IS FOR LOVERS, he has taught English in Japanese

kindergarten, insulated homes in rural Vermont, and produced benefit concerts with Bob Weir and Willie Nelson. He is pursuing his graduate degree in filmmaking at NYU.

Muertes y Vivientes (Living and Dead)Director: INAKI SAN ROMANWriter: Inaki San Roman, Josu DiazProducer: Carpe Diem ProductionsSpain, Narrative, 17 min., 2011SYNOPSIS: When zombies take over her neighborhood, a woman decides to fight her way to the local cemetery to visit the grave of her recently deceased husband--hoping for a reunion.

Director INAKI SAN ROMAN studied at ECAM, and specialized in Scriptwriting at the Universidad Pontifica in Salamanca. He is currently the Head Writer of the Spainsh TV series 7 VIDAS AND

AIDA, and has also produced numerous short film projects.

TricksterDirector: ALEXANDER POHLWriter/Animator: Alexander Pohl Producer: HFF Konrad Wolf PotsdamGermany, Animation, 15 min., 2008SYNOPSIS: The Protagonist, the Auguste, is projected onto the screen of a beautiful cinema as a metaphor for the subconscious mind of the audience.

Director ALEXANDER POHL was born in Munich and moved to Berlin to study Animation at the film academy HFF Konrad Wolf. He

graduated in 2007, and has since been working as a freelancer. Since 2009 he has been a member of the newly founded Animationstudio in Berlin together with 11 alumni from the HFF Konrad Wolf Potsdam.

GuruDirector: JONATHAN VANBALLENBERGHEWriter: Jonathan VanBallenbergheProducers: Jonathan VanBallenberghe, Sharon WahlUSA, Documentary, 20 min., 2011SYNOPSIS: GURU examines a man’s battle with manic depression and his inventive way of coping with it. Onstage in front of hundreds of people, Peter SCott is a charismatic motivational speaker. In his private life, he struggles with chronic depression, anxiety, and obsessive compulsive disorder.

Director JONATHAN VANBALLENBERGHE was raised in Juneau, Alaska, but now lives in Tucson, Arizona. He started making films while in the poetry MFA program at the University of Arizona. In 2005 he started Open Lens Productions, which he runs with his wife, Sharon Wahl. In his documentary films, he is most often drawn to exploring the lives of eccentric individuals.

BabyDirector: DANIEL MULLOYWriter: Daniel MulloyProducer: Ohna FalbyUK, Narrative, 20 min., 2010SYNOPSIS: A young woman witnesses a crime, its perpetrator follows her home.

Director DANIEL MULLOY is a filmmaker and visual artist. He studied fine art in London and New York, and he currently lives outside London. His works have been broadcast, screened and exhibited worldwide, with numerous premieres at Sundance.

He has won awards at Melbourne, Hamburg, Clermont-Ferrand, and Edinburgh. Mulloy has also won both the British Independent Film Award and multiple BAFTA Awards for his films, as well as having been nominated for the European Academy Film Award.

La Cite Entre Les Murs (Inner City)Director: ALAIN FOURNIERWriter: Alain FournierProducer: Alain FournierCanada, Animation, 8 min., 2011SYNOPSIS: In a city hung between two endless walls, a boy with only pigeons for company tries to seduce his remote neighbor with whacky inventions.

Director ALAIN FOURNIER is particularly interested in the fantsy genre, where atmosphere is always a strong feature. His first film OF MOTHER AND TIDES won numerous festival awards. His second film,

OKO, was nominated for the 2010 Jutra Award (Quebec, Canada) for Best Animation. INNER CITY is his second essay with puppets, this time mixed with 3D animation. He is currently developing a feature film project.

CheatDirector: JOE DEROSAWriters: Joe DeRosa, Robert Kelly, Bill BurrProducers: Lou Wallach, Bill Burr, Robert Kelly, Joe DeRosaUSA, Narrative, 15 min., 2010SYNOPSIS: Three friends are on a mission to pull off the perfect score. Neurotic Joe has a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to score, but lacks the experience to get the job done, so he enlists the hep of his crooked yet calculating pals

Director JOE DEROSA is a New York-based stand-up comedian, actor, writer, and director. Comedy Central recently produced his half-hour special and released his debut album THE DEPRESSION AUCTION. Joe has also appeared on HOB’s BORED TO DEATH, and IFC’s ZROCK and his a regular on Fox New’s REDEYE and the OPIE AND ANTHONY SHOW. CHEAT is his directorial debut.

JoselynDirector: SUSAN BEJARWriter: Susan BejarProducers: Susan Bejar, Lavinia ProductionsSpain, Narrative, 19 min., 2011SYNOPSIS: How can loneliness so large fit in a room so small?

Director SUSAN BEJAR is a native of Spain who studied at Factoria del Guion. She decided to send JOSELYN to the Bancaja Award committee and told herself “if I must pursue this, show me a sign.” A year later, she was informed she had won. SInce then she has created a series of award-winning short films with longtime collaborator Gabriel Beitia.

Something Left, Something TakenDirectors: MAX PORTER,RU KUWAHATAWriters: Max Porter, Ru KuwahataProducers: Max Porter, Ru KuwahataNetherlands, Animation, 10 min., 2010SYNOPSIS: Everyone who enters a crime scene leaves something behind. This dark comedy is about a vacationing couple’s encounter with a man they believe to be the Zodiac Killer.

Directors MAX PORTER and RU KUWAHATA are known for their playful and humorous mixed-media animations which combine handcrafted art, photography, and digital techniques. Since they began collaborating in 2007, Max and Ru have directed TV commercials, music videos, PSAs, and independent films. Their work has screened at over 200 festivals worldwide, and in June they began a two-year residency at the Netherlands Institute of Animated FIlm.

Skateistan: To Live and Skate KabulDirector: ORLANDO VON EINSIEDELWriter: Orlando von EinsiedelProducer: Louis FiggisUK, Documentary, 10 min., 2010SYNOPSIS: In Afghanistan, two young skateboarders find an oasis where children can be children, and build the kinds of cross-cultural relationships that the country needs for future stability.

Director ORLANO VON EINSIEDEL is a former professional snowboarder who heads up the documentary department of Grain Media, a production company started by Einsiedel and fellow “extreme sports” athlete Marshall Drever. He has produced and

directed several acclaimed and award-winning documentaries, promos and short features for a diverse range of TV networks and brands.

PentecostDirector: PETER MCDONALDWriter: Peter McDonaldProducer: Elmear O’KaneIreland, Narrative, 11 min., 2011SYNOPSIS: Ireland, 1977. Eleven-year-old Damien is called in at the last moment to serve as an altar boy at an important mass. Considering his last appearance when he knocked Father O’Toole off the altar, he faces a choice: either to conform to the status quo or serve an extended ban from his passion in life, football.

Director PETER MCDONALD has been a professional actor for the last 18 years. His film credits include THE DAMNED UNITED, I WENT DOWN, and SOME VOICES. He wrote and directed his this, his second short film.

Year ZeroDirector/Animator: RICHARD CUNNINGHAMWriter: Richard CunninghamProducers: Richard Cunningham, Tim BrennanUSA, Animation, 20 min., 2010SYNOPSIS: A loner finds himself trapped in his NYC apartment after a parasite wreaks havoc on the five boroughs.

Director RICHARD CUNNINGHAM III was raised in Ganesvoort NY, and started making videos at 15. His filmography includes narratives thrillers, and mocumentaries. He has written screenplays ranging from romantic comedy to neo-noir. He also writes novels, and moonlight s as a stand-in on film and TV production in NYC.

Dicen (They Say)Director: ALAUDA RUIZWriter: Alauda RuizProducer: Encarta FIlmsSPAIN, Narrative, 18 min., 2011SYNOPSIS: Not everything that goes on in school is not a game.

Director ALAUDA RUIZ is a graduate in Audiovisual Communication and Cinema Direction from the ECAM. Her previous works as director were the short films PRIVATE LESSONS and THE MAIN THING, produced by Encarta FIlms.

SHe is currently working as a commercial director for Garage FIlms.
