PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE Hello Friends, For many of us summer has been a time of travel to visit family and friends. Others have remained in Tokyo, but had a break from their regular routine. Still others may be new to Tokyo and feeling overwhelmed. I hope that whatever your case may be that you have had a wonderful summer and are excited for fall. It is my pleasure to welcome all of you to another year with the TUC Women’s Society. We have an exciting year coming up with many ways for you to learn a new skill, meet new friends, serve the community and grow in your faith. I encourage each of you to think about an area where you might like to become more involved. The more we stretch outside of our comfort zone the more we will grow. I am sure that you will find, as I have, that TUCWS is filled with wonderful women waiting to welcome you. Many Blessings, Bonnie Henry, Co– President
THANK YOU
Special THANKS to Natsu Kikuchi for planning our Summer Coffees this year. Our summer line up included programs on Washi crafts, kimono dressing and Origami folding. Would you like to give a little back to our community? EVERY morning we have small groups that meet in the church kitchen to make onigiri (rice balls) for the homeless. This is a once-a- week commitment...any day your choose. Most groups meet around 8:00 am and then go for cof- fee when they are done. Contact Debbie Hayman at debbiesan5@hotmail. com for more infor- mation.

-Japanese Drum Performance- Presented by Kazue and Miyuki Kuno
With Group “Sazanami” Our September Program offers an exciting Japanese Drum performance of TAIKO!! Taiko has been one of the most important instruments in Japanese summer festivals and now it’s becoming more and more popular around the world. Kazue Kuno is a powerful drummer who has been teaching the group Sazanami for over 10 years with her daughter Miyuki. Miyuki is blessed with a talent for song composition and combination of Taiko drums and excellent drum techniques. This is their second appearance as a WS Monthly Program and last time in January 2007, the show finished with a big round of applause and loud cheers. Please join this fun experience to feel and get the power of their energetic performance!!
