He has been the Member of Parliament of Miri since 1985 and is currently the Party Organising Secretary of The Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP). Datuk Peter who hails from Sibu, Sarawak returns to the Ministry for a second term. He was first appointed as the Minister of Plantation Industries and Commodities in 2004. In 2004, he was appointed to the Cabinet of Malaysia as the Minister of Plantation Industries & Commodities. Prior to his full ministerial appointment, his previous posts were Deputy Minister of Housing & Local Government and Deputy Minister of Science, Technology & Innovation. Dato’ Sri Peter holds a Bachelor Degree in Law from Gray's Inn, London. Prior to his appointment at the Federal level he was the Chairman of Miri Municipal Council. He was first appointed as the Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry of Welfare. He is married with two daughters and a son. He has attended the Aresty Institute of Wharton School in USA, the Melbourne Business School and UCLA’s Graduate School of Management. A Certified Management Consultant, he specialises in Corporate Strategic Planning, Asian Strategy and Political Economy. He was Vice President of the Institute of Management Consultants and the Malaysian Institute of Directors. Contributing his time to national service, he served on the First and Second National Economic Consultative Councils. He was appointed by the Prime Minister to the National Unity Advisory Panel and the Royal Commission on Police. He is also Commissioner on Malaysia’s Human Rights Commission (SUHAKAM) and served as Chairman of its Economic, Cultural and Social Rights Working Group. In March 2010, he was appointed by the Prime Minister and Government of Malaysia to be Malaysia’s Representative on the newly-established ASEAN High- Level Task Force on Connectivity which was announced by the ASEAN Heads of States and Governments to develop ASEAN Connectivity focussing on ICT, Education, Human Capital Development, Transportation, Power and Energy.

DATO’ DR HALIM MAN is currently the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Energy, Green Technology & Innovation, Malaysia. His career in the Public Service spanned more than 31 years and began his career as a civil servant with the Ministry of Home Affairs in 1977. He had served the National Institute of Public Administration (INTAN) in numerous capacities for 16 years, during which he gained vast experience in training and human capital development. During his stint at INTAN, Dato’ Dr Halim was appointed as Consultant to develop training programmes in Brunei Darussalam, Zimbabwe and Namibia. In 2002, he was conferred the Eisenhower Fellowships, USA. He was subsequently seconded as the Registrar of the University of Malaya in January 2003. Dato’ Dr Halim is an EXCO Member of the Eisenhower Fellowship Association Malaysia and is active in the AOTS Alumni Society of Malaysia. He is also a Board Member of Bank Simpanan Nasional, Telekom Smart School, MDeC, Multimedia University Malaysia and Water Asset Management Company Berhad.

SESSION 1:

DATO’ GHAZALI DATO’ MOHD YUSOFF is the Executive Chairman of Nusantara Technologies Sdn. Bhd. He graduated from the University of Malaya in 1968 in Economics and Geography. Dato' Ghazali then worked in a multinational company and travelled extensively throughout the world. The Company encouraged him to be active in many outside activities and he therefore enjoyed various positions and involvement in National, Regional and International Organisations. He is also actively involved in the field of sustainable development and is currently the Honorary Executive Director of the Business Council for Sustainable Development Malaysia of which he is also the founding member. His other affiliation includes Advisor to Asia-Pacific Office of The Oxford Centre for Leadership.

NORMAH MOHD NOOR joined Express Rail Link Sdn Bhd (ERL) in October 1997 as General Manager, where she was instrumental in raising financing for the RM2.4billion high speed rail link between KL Sentral and KLIA. She left ERL in October 2007 and was then appointed as Advisor to ERL. On 1 June 2009 she assumed the current position as the Chief Executive Officer of ERL. Prior to 1997, she was with Projek Usahasama Transit Ringan Automatik Sdn Bhd (PUTRA), a light rail concessionaire company where she played the key role in raising commercial debt amounting to RM2.5billion. Puan Noormah was formerly with Bank Bumiputra Malaysia Berhad (now known as CIMB Bank) for 11 years. She was attached to the Credit Control Office and headed a unit in Corporate Banking Division focusing on the real estate, construction, infrastructure and utility sectors. She coordinated the project financing for several major infrastructure projects in the power, toll-bridge and toll-road sectors. She holds a Diploma in Accountancy from Mara Institute of Technology and studied Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, United Kingdom.

IR. TAJUL ZAHARI ABU BAKAR, a professional Engineer (P.E.) registered with the Board of Engineers Malaysia, was appointed Director of Engineering of PROTON Holdings Berhad in November 2008. He has been with PROTON since 1985 assuming numerous key positions in the company. Ir. Tajul Zahari graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical from the University of Queensland, Australia and an MBA from the International Islamic University (IIUM). He lent his expertise to PROTON through various postings including the areas of Research & Development, Product Development as well as Project Management. His professional affiliations include being a Member of the Institution of Engineers Malaysia (IEM). He also sits in various external committees including the Work Group, Industrial Biotechnology and Biotechnology Corporation Malaysia.

PROF SULEIMAN MOHD SALLEH is the Head, Multimedia & Design Centre, Faculty of Innovative Design & Technology, Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (formerly known as Universiti Darul Iman Malaysia or UDM). He has 30 years working experience in the transportation industry locally and internationally. An Industrial Designer by training and specialised in automotive design, he obtained his Diploma in Industrial Design Engineering from CSAD, UK, Diploma in Licentiate, LSIAD, UK, B.A. (Hons) 1st Class from CNAA, UK and M.Des, RCA from the Royal College of Art, London, UK.

CARL RAJENDRAM is the Chief Executive Officer of the ISM Insurance Services Malaysia Berhad. He has a Bachelor’s degree (Honours) in Actuarial Science and is a Chartered Insurance Practitioner, UK. He also completed a Certificate in Takaful Practice in 1996. In 2005, Mr Rajendram became the first Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) from the insurance industry in Malaysia. In 2008, he successfully completed the prestigious Project Management Professional examination, a culmination of his 15 years of industry experience. Carl has presented papers in numerous seminars and conferences as well as conducted trainings both locally and internationally on myriad of topics including Knowledge Management, Enterprise Risk Management, Insurance Fraud and Information Technology. At ISM, Mr Rajendram together with the ISM team has built a world-class infrastructure for industry business intelligence and shared services. ISM currently manages some of the most comprehensive and credible databases in the region and the number of databases continues to grow as the ISM Database and Information Management System allows for additional bases to be added at very efficient incremental cost.

GOPAL R. is the Director – Transportation & Logistics Practice, Asia Pacific, Frost & Sullivan. He is responsible for developing the transportation and logistics consulting capabilities in Asia, with additional responsibility for the global region. He is actively involved in the execution of client defined engagements and syndicated research studies. Mr Gopal has worked on several strategic marketing consulting assignments for local, regional and global clients. He also works with industry associations and event producing companies to plan and implement value added business programmes in industry events. He has also been instrumental in conceptuallising and developing new research products for Frost & Sullivan that focus on the economic implications affecting industry segments, quantitative market modelling, forecasting models and global research snapshots. Prior to joining Frost & Sullivan, Mr Gopal was the Commercial Director for India & Southeast Asia at an international third party logistics company, responsible for business development in the region. He obtained his M.Sc. (Hons) in Economics and Master of Management Studies from Birla Institute of Technology & Science, India.

HEZERI SAMSURI is the News Editor – Cars.Bikes, New Sunday Times and Berita Harian Auto. He started his career as a lecturer with IKIP-UTM College in Kuantan in 1999 and went on to join National telehealth project and subsequently joined LimKokWing College as a Lecturer in Communication. In 2001, he was offered his dream job by the Editor, Mr Yamin Vong of NST that enable him to focus more on the future mobility in Malaysia. With Cars. Bikes & Trucks, he has attended seminars and forums on future mobility and has test-driven numerous kinds of alternative vehicles. As a Malaysian citizen, he wants affordable practicality in the solution and this is what he will be fighting for. Hezeri obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Education (TESL) from the University of Malaya. He was born in February 1973 in Kuantan, Pahang.

DATUK EDDY CHEN LOK LOI He holds a Bachelor of Business Studies (Marketing) from Monash University, Australia. He was appointed to the Board on 31st July 1984 and was re-designated to Managing Director of the Metro Kajang Group on 19th January 2005. He has been involved, hands on, in the Group’s activities including the construction and marketing of more than 20,000 units of houses, commercial and industrial buildings. Houses constructed include low-cost houses, terrace, semi-detach, bungalow, high-rise condominium and apartments, commercial buildings include shopping complex, hotel, industrial estate and other retail building. Datuk Eddy Chen has more than 25 years of experience in property development and construction related businesses. Datuk Eddy Chen is a Patron, Past President of Real Estate and Housing Developers’ Association (REHDA) of Malaysia and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the REHDA Institute. During the 1998 Financial Crisis, and during his tenure as President of REHDA, spearheaded the revival of property industries through the Home Ownership Campaign and promoting foreign investment in Malaysian properties. He is currently a Member of the Advisory Board of the Construction Labour Exchange Berhad and Past Chairman of the Building Industry Presidents’ Council (BIPC). He is the Honorary Treasurer of the Malaysia Crime Prevention Foundation, (MCPF). He also served as the President of ASEAN Association for Planning & Housing and as well as the current Deputy President of Eastern Regional Organisation for Planning & Housing Malaysia (Malaysia Chapter). Datuk Eddy Chen is also a Board Member of the Malaysia Property Incorporated (MPI) and sits in various other key government-private sector committees in formulating policies governing the housing and real estate industry.

PROF DR SR. KAMARUL RASHDAN HAJI SALLEH is the Managing Director of Syarikat Perumahan Negara Berhad (SPNB) since 1 July 2009. He is responsible for overseeing the delivery of the National Housing Programme of Rumah Mampu Milik, Rumah Mesra Rakyat, and Program Pemulihan Perumahan Terbengkalai. He is an Honorary Visiting Professor of the School of The Built Environment, University of Salford, Chartered Quantity Surveyor (Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors UK), Registered Quantity Surveyor in Malaysia (Member of the Institution of Surveyors Malaysia) and Member of the British Institute of Facilities Management UK. Prof Dr S. Kamarul obtained his Ph.D. in Construction Econometrics from the University of Salford UK, M.Phil.in Facilities Management from the University of Strathclyde, UK and a B.Sc. (Hons) in Quantity Surveying from the Glasgow Caledonian University UK. Before joining SPNB, he was an Associate Director of Mace Group UK where he was at the forefront in advising, developing and managing both capital and lifecycle investment particularly in PPP/PFI Schemes. He was a “Malaysian Diaspora” living in the UK for 15 years. A Social Activist, he has held numerous leadership roles i.e. President of Kesatuan Melayu United Kingdom, President of Malaysian Research Group U.K and Chairman of Kelab UMNO United Kingdom and Eire. He is now an Honorary Advisor of Gabungan Pelajar Melayu Semenanjung (GPMS). In 2000, he received a conferment from the former Prime Minister of Malaysia, YABhg. Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad for the Best International Young Malaysian Award 2000 by the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

COLIN NG holds a Masters of Business Administration from RMIT University (Melbourne), Post Graduate Diploma in Finance from Melbourne University (Melbourne) and a Bachelor of Economics from Monash University (Melbourne). He is also the Malaysian Institute of Management (MIM) Best Student prize winner in year 2002 and Australian Asian Management Organization (AAMO) Best MBA student prize winner in year 2002. Mr. Ng is currently heading Corporate Investments and one of the Principal Officers for Goldis Berhad, a main board listed private equity investments company. He is also Executive Director of GTower Sdn. Bhd. Goldis is the largest shareholder in IGB Corporation Berhad. He is also a member of various Boards of Directors and Executive Committees in the investee companies within the Goldis group. Goldis’ diversified interests include IGB Corporation Berhad, Mid Valley City, Tan & Tan Developments Berhad (Property development), KrisAssets Holdings Berhad (Mid Valley Megamall), Macro Kiosk Berhad (SMS technologies) and GTower Sdn Bhd (property) to name a few. Prior to being in Goldis, Mr Ng has spearheaded Corporate Development in a number of main board listed companies.

UMANG SHARMA is the Chief Executive Officer of Bry-Air (M) Sdn. Bhd. Bry-Air, a US pioneer status company is the world leader in the field of Energy conservation and dehumidification and an active proponent of the ‘Green Building Movement’. He has over 25 years’ working experience in the field of energy and environment and has worked in India and Asia-Pacific extensively. He also sits on various committees of the Green Building Councils in several Asian countries and contributes actively to the councils and has written and presented many technical papers on the subject. Mr Umang is also a Member of the American Society of Air-Conditioning, Heating & Refrigeration Engineers (ASHRAE), the Malaysian Chapter of ASHRAE and a life member of the Indian Chapter of ASHRAE. He is concurrently Chairman of Consortium of Indian Industries in Malaysia (CIIM), an organisation of CEO’s of Indian companies operating in Malaysia. He graduated in Mechanical Engineering and did his MBA from University of Strathclyde, UK

DENNIS TAN SOO HUANG is the Council Member and Chairman of the Environment & Quality Committee of the Master Builders Association Malaysia (MBAM) since 2005. In his current appointment, the Committee is overseeing all matters regarding the environment that affects the construction industry and present convincing facts of law enforcement and all matters regarding quality practices including ISO 9001, ISO OHSAS 18001. A graduate in Mechanical Engineering and external exam on AMSE (London), Mr Tan has more than 24 years of experience in the field of water, sewage, industrial waste-water and ground-water engineering works. Prior to this, he had received extensive training in Japan whilst attached to a leading Japanese water specialist company in Kuala Lumpur. Since founding OCNED Water Technology Sdn. Bhd. in 1993, he has been involved in sewage treatment plant, pumping station and ground-water project, both big and small, from tendering, planning, design to implementation, construction and handover.

AR DR TAN LOKE MUN is the Immediate Past President of the Malaysian Institute of Architects (PAM) and Board Member of the Board of Architects Malaysia. He is also Chairman of the PAM Sustainability Committee responsible for the development of the GBI and Pro-Tem member of the Malaysian Green Building Council (MGBC). Ar Dr Tan is a Senior Practising Architect and Director of ArchiCentre Sdn Bhd, an architectural design company established in 1994. ArchiCentre’s architecture embraces and interprets regionalism in a modern tropical context. Often working from the basis of typologies, ArchiCentre has managed to interpret and translate simple regional metaphors into its increasingly green architecture. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts (Architecture) and Bachelor of Architecture (1st Class Hons) from Deakin University and later his Doctorate from the University of Melbourne. Dr Tan has served in many committees and working groups ranging from professional education, CPD, technology, professional practice, competitions, awards and design. He is also the current Editor of Architecture Asia.

MATTHIAS GELBER is Member of the Board, International Network of Environmental Management (INEM) and Maleki GmbH & Green Building Products Pvt. Ltd. He is an international trainer, speaker and business man with experience in 38 countries worldwide. His focus areas have been environmental management and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) over the last 15 years. He was given the ‘Greenest Person on the Planet’ award in 2008 by 3rdwhale.com, and until recently, named one of the Men of the Year by in Malaysia by the Magazine Clive. He started a voluntary movement called Eco Warriors Malaysia which focused on mobilising Malaysians to take practical green actions, such as tree planting and recycling. He is also the Co-Founder of Maleki GmbH, and board member of Green Building Products Private Limited and INEM, the International Network of Environmental Management. These last few years, saw him working with the building industry to develop practical strategies for effective environmental and sustainability progress. Mr Gelber is a Member of the Green Building Council and the IISBE, which is the International Initiative for a Sustainable Built Environment.

IR. CAROLE LAU is the Principal of Newmet Konsulten, Civil & Structural, Mechanical & Electrical Consulting and Professional Engineer of the Board of Engineers, Malaysia. She is also a Member of The Institution of Engineers Malaysia (IEM). Her areas of specialisation include building services for factories and commercial complexes and infrastructural planning for mix development projects. In addition, Ir. Carole Lau is a Researcher and Practitioner of Healthy Eating Habits & Lifestyles as well as a Vegan with micro-biotic diets.

IR. DAVID LAU is the Principal of Newmet Konsulten Civil & Structural, Mechanical & Electrical Consulting and Professional Engineer of the Board of Engineers, Malaysia. He is also a Member of The Institution of Engineers Malaysia (IEM). His other professional affiliations include being Member of the Institute of Structural Engineers, UK; Member of the Institute of Civil Engineers, UK and Chairman of the Malaysian Division, Institute of Structural Engineers, UK since 2007. His areas of specialisation include Multi-storey high-rise buildings, complete design of cost efficient factories and infrastructural planning for mix development projects.

MOHD ROSLI HAJI ABDULLAH is the Senior Under-Secretary of the Green Technology Sector of the Ministry of Energy, Green Technology & Water, Malaysia. He joined the Ministry in July 2009. He obtained his Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from the Memphis State University, USA and a Master in Environmental Management from the Flinders University, Australia. Mr Mohd Rosli joined the Malaysia Civil Service in 1988 and has served in numerous ministries and agencies mostly dealing with the planning and development, energy and the environment.

CHOCK ENG TAH, a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) and a Fellow with the Institution of Engineers Malaysia (IEM), currently serves as the Managing Director of KUB-Berjaya Enviro Sdn. Bhd. He graduated with a civil engineering degree from the University of Canterbury, New Zealand. KBE is the developer and operator of the largest sanitary landfill in Malaysia, situated in Selangor with the state-of-the-art facilities including the country’s largest automated leachate treatment plant capable of treating more than 1,000 cu.m of leachate per day. He is concurrently the Executive Director of Berjaya Project Management Sdn. Bhd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Berjaya Land Berhad. His previous working stints included companies as as Renong and UEM Groups in numerous capacities. He has been involved in the implementation of Malaysia’s North-South Expressway, the Kuala Lumpur Putra LRT project and carried out feasibility studies in countries e.g. China, Vietnam, India and etc.

DATO’ DR NADZRI YAHAYA is the Director-General of the National Solid Waste management Department, Ministry of Housing & Local Government, Malaysia.

DATO’ IR. LEE MIANG KOI is the Chief Operating Officer of the Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor Sdn. Bhd. (SYABAS), a privatized concessionaire company managing the water supply in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya. A civil engineer, by profession, Dato’ Ir. Lee has a Master’s Degree in Environmental Engineering. He has 32 years of experience in the water supply sector, both in public and private sectors.

DR CHEN SAU SOON is the Senior General Manager – Environment & Bio-Process Technology Centre, SIRIM Berhad. She has been attached to SIRIM for the past 25 years and worked on a number of technology areas covering metalworking, chemical technology and for the last 12 years, in environment and energy. In the field of environment and energy management technology, she has implemented and managed a range of industrial, government and collaborative international R&D projects related to environmental risk management, hazardous waste treatment, chemical safety management, wastewater treatment, photo catalytic treatment, life cycle assessment and lately on eco-design and green supply chain. She has also served as Chairman / Member for a number of technical committees / policy related committees under the Ministry of Science, Technology & Innovation, Ministry of Natural Resources & Environment and the Ministry of International Trade & Industry.

RALPH J. DIXON is the Director of Environmental Investments, YTL Corporation Berhad and Director of YTL-SV Carbon Sdn. Bhd. He graduated from the Warwick University, UK with a B.Sc. in Management Sciences, and has a Diploma in Mandarin from the Taiwan Normal Teachers University. Prior to joining YTL Corp and YTL-SV Carbon in the environmental division, he worked since 2001 in operational and manufacturing roles in Indonesia, South Africa and Singapore in the pulp and paper converting, and recycled wood processing industries for Detpak and Hong Leong Industries respectively. Prior to that for 15 years he worked in investment banking in Asia and Europe with companies such as Hoare Govett, Hong Leong and Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein in research and management positions

GATOT S. PRAWIRO is the Regional Executive of GE Energy – Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines, post that he has held since 2008, leading the operations of company and extending GE Energy’s leadership in the region’s energy sector. He joined GE in January 1995. In the intervening years, he has assumed numerous positions in the marketing & sales, driving growth for the company in both the power generation and energy services businesses. He was promoted at the Country Executive of GE Energy Indonesia in May 2005. Under his leadership, GE Energy’s involvement in Indonesia spanned across the spectrum of power generation; encompassing coal, oil, natural gas and renewable resources such as wind, solar, biogas and other alternative fuels. Gatot and family were formerly based in the US as the Global Marketing Director for an American machinery controls company. He brings with him more than 20 years of experience in the energy industry. Mr Prawiro graduated from Bristol Polytechnic in Bristol, UK in 1984 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He also obtained an M.Sc.

IR. FRANCIS XAVIER JACOB is the Director of Energy Management of the Energy Commission of Malaysia. He has been with the Commission and the then Department of Electricity and Gas Supply since 1991. The Commission, among others, regulates the electricity and piped gas industries in Malaysia. Prior to this, he was with the Public Works Department Malaysia, where he was involved with the design and project management of public electrical installations. He was also, for some time, involved with the maintenance aspects of these installations. He is the Chairman of the Technical Committee on the Standards for Energy Management and also sits in various standards working committees. Ir. Francis Xavier Jacob graduated in 1977 with a Bachelors of Engineering degree from the University of Malaya and also holds a Masters degree in Environment. He is a Professional Engineer and is a Member of the Institution of Engineers Malaysia (IEM).

OLIVER HARRISON is the Senior Trade Manager at the British High Commission, specialising in the UK/Malaysia business in the Renewable Energy, Water Environment and Agriculture industries. He also chairs the EUMCCI Sub-Committee on Water. Mr Harrison has worked as an engineer in the utilities industry before moving to a trade support role in the Government and is now focussed on supporting the implementation of commercial activities in the Green Technology.

NICHOLAS C. ASHBY is the Chief Executive Officer & Founder of Celadon Capital (M) Sdn. Bhd. His career as an investment banker stretches back to 1981, and takes in M&A, privatisations, venture capital, equity research and fund management. Prior to establishing Celadon in 1996, he was attached to Crosby Group from 1992, now a unit of Société Generale, where he oversaw the development of its corporate finance and securities operations in Malaysia, India, Korea and Philippines. Previously, he held senior positions with the M&A arm of Nomura Group in London, during which time he was, among other roles, part of the team that privatised the Czech tobacco industry through a US$400 million sale to Philip Morris Inc., now Altria. In his earlier career, he was attached to the equity research operations of SG Warburg Securities in Tokyo and prior to that a leading London stock-broking firm, both firms now part of UBS Group. He holds a Masters Degree in Chemical Engineering and Natural Science from Trinity Hall, Cambridge University, UK.

FREDERIC CRAMPE co-founded a business advisory boutique based in Singapore, specialising the Asia Pacific Clean Energy sector, offering consulting and investment banking type services. He is raising funds (debt/equity) for renewable energy infrastructure, bio-fuel production facilities. Energy efficiency projects and green energy products/services companies. Mr Crampe is also Vice Chairman of the finance committee of the Sustainable Energy Association of Singapore (SEAS), Director of a Philippine-based energy services company, Member of the Sustainability Committee of the European Chamber of Commerce in Singapore and a Member of the Steering Committee for the Asian Development Bank’s E4ALL initiative. He started his career in the US working for NASA in the Satellite Earth Observation Department (natural disasters and climate change) before assuming the position of the Business Development Manager for SILOGIC. He later offered consulting services to Asian technology start-ups to help with business plan and fund-raising. Mr Crampe has an M.B.A. from the INSEAD Business School with a concentration in Finance and Private Equity. He initially graduated from SUPAERO, a top engineering school in France with a Masters in Aerospace Engineering and a M.Sc. in Geophysics. Frederic is the Managing Director, ReEx Capital Asia Pte. DATO’ PRABA THIAGARAJAH is the CEO & Founder of Basis Bay, a home-grown group of companies that provide shared services and IT outsourcing to various markets, locally and internationally. With an engineering background, Dato’ Praba possesses close to 20 years of experience in the IT business. He has a Diploma in Computing & Information System from the University of Oxford, UK and Certification in Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery Planning from the Disaster Recovery Institute International, USA. He also graduated with a Degree in Physics, from the University of Malaya. He was honoured with a Key Industry Leader award by the Association of the Computer & Multimedia Industry of Malaysia (PIKOM) in 2005 for his outstanding achievement in the ICT segment, Young Indian Entrepreneur of the Year Award in 2006 from SENET, GOPIO Award 2008 and Global Impact Award from the Society of Services & Computer Dealers, USA as well as Technology Business Review ASEAN Award for CEO of the Year recently, for his outstanding achievement in the IT Outsourcing segment. Dato’ Praba’s early working experience was as an engineer with NEC and IBM. He oversees the operations of Basis Bay’s regional offices in Hong Kong, Thailand, Singapore, the Philippines, Switzerland and India. Dato’ Praba is also actively involved in several IT societies. He was the founder of the Business Continuity Society of Selangor & Wilayah Persekutuan and a senior member of several business and IT societies in the Netherlands, United States of America and Singapore. Dato’ Praba has also served on the National ICT Security & Emergency Response Centre’s (NISER) “panel of experts”, a service that has benefited the nation at large. He was also honoured with a Key Industry Leader award by the Association of the Computer and Multimedia Industry of Malaysia (PIKOM) in 2005 for his outstanding achievement in the ICT segment.

TAN SRI DR SALLEH MOHD NOR is the President of the Malaysian Nature Society (MNS) and Secretary-General of the Academy of Sciences Malaysia (ASM). He was the first Director-General of the Forest Research Institute of Malaysia (FRIM) before retiring in 1995. He has served as President of the International Union of Forest Research Organisations (IUFRO) from 1991 to 1995; Member of the inaugural Malaysian Human Rights Commission (SUHAKAM) from April 2000 to 2002 and inaugural Chairman of the Malaysian Bio Organisation (MBIO) from 2003 to 2006. His awards include Merdeka Awards (2008); inaugural Langkawi Award (1991); the Third World Network for Scientific Organisation Award (1991), the National Science Award (1993); the ASEAN Achievement Award for Environment (1995). He was also awarded an Honorary Doctorate degree from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (1992) and the University of Aberdeen (1993). In 1991, he was made an Honorary Member of the American Society of Foresters and IUFRO in 1999 and Fellow of the Malaysian Scientific Association in 2005. His professional affiliations include being Member of Sultan Mizan Royal Foundation since its formation in May 2005. He was later elected as its Deputy Chairman in 2006. Tan Sri is happily married to Puan Sri Habibah Alias and they are blessed with three children and five grandchildren.

THYAGA RAJAN is the Technical Director, Basis Bay Capital Management Sdn. Bhd. He came to Basis Bay with wealth of experience in the Mechanical and Electrical services. He is currently the Head of technical services; with the portfolio to project manage all aspect in the building and construction of Data Centres and its related infrastructure. His project management team will monitor and manage daily activities of operations, inspection and management of all related Electrical and Mechanical activities of Basis Bay’s Data Centres, offices as well as provide consultation on building data centre that suit an organisation requirement. SOFIYAN YAHYA is the President of the Malaysian Oil & Gas Services Council (MOGSC). He is also the CEO of Cekap Technical Services. STEVE McCOY is the Founder and Managing Director of Counterpoint Sdn. Bhd., a boutique consultancy firm which provides support services on sustainability for the corporate, government and non-profit sectors. Steve brings an almost unparalleled breadth of experience to this work. Academically, he read medicine, music and theology (not at the same time!) in London and Cambridge. K. C. SOH is the Director, Enterprise Marketing – Asia Pacific, Cisco Systems, Inc. He heads Cisco Systems’ Asia Pacific Enterprise and Mid-Market Marketing organisation which encompasses three of Cisco’s key focus architectures – Borderless Networks, DataCentre–Virtualisation and Collaboration-Business Video as well as industry vertical solutions – FSI, Manufacturing, Education, Healthcare and Government/Public Sector. With over 23 years of experience in the IT and telecommunications, he was one of the pioneering members of Cisco Systems in Asia. DR THOMAS S. K. TANG, Director, Corporate Sustainability, Asia, AECOM Asia Co. Ltd., Hong Kong, is an expert on sustainability and environmental management. AECOM Asia, is part of AECOM (NYSE: ACM), a global provider of professional planning, design and engineering services to transportation, facilities, environmental and energy markets. Trained as a chemist, he has over 18 years of experience in environmental management and policy research, specialising in the built environment, waste management, energy and climate change as well an on the broader issues of sustainable development. His particular area of interest is in the application of environmental technologies in designing cities of the future. Dr Tang has written numerous reports including ‘Clean Air – a Path to Clear Choices’ (report on Hong Kong’s power and transport choices for better air quality), ‘Shaping the Future’ (report on children’s right) and ‘Clean Energy in the Pearl River Delta’ (report on energy issues and trends in Southern China). He is also regular contributor to the opinion column in the South China Morning Post on sustainability and the environment. In addition, Dr. Tang has been interviewed for his views on regional sustainability developments by Bloomberg and Al-Jazeera television networks. Dr Tang is also a Faculty Associate and tutor for the Henley Business School, Visiting Scholar for the University of Hong Kong’s Business Faculty as well as the Chairman of the English Language Advisory Board for Lingnan College, Hong Kong. Dr Tang graduated from the City University, London, UK with a Bachelors degree in Industrial Chemistry. He took his doctorate in Materials Science at the City University, and later obtained his M.B.A. from Brunel University, UK in 1990 where he was awarded the ‘Outstanding Student’ Award for his year. Educated at Epsom College, he was previously engaged as a research scientist in the UK, until he moved to Asia in 1993. He is married with two children.

PROF DR KAMARUZZAMAN SOPIAN is the Director of the Solar Energy Research Institute (SERI), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). He obtained his B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1985, M.Sc. in Energy Resources from the University of Pittsburgh in 1989 and a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the Dorgan Solar Laboratory, University of Miami in 1997. He is concurrently Professor in Renewable Energy at the Department of Mechanical and Material Engineering, UKM. He has been involved in the field of solar energy for more than twenty years. His main contributions are in solar radiation modelling, alternative material for solar absorber, solar water heating system with integrated storage system, solar desalination, solar cooling, day-lighting using solar light pipes, solar assisted drying systems, grid-connected photovoltaic system, thin film silicon solar cells, combined photovoltaic thermal or hybrid collector and solar hydrogen production system. His innovation in solar energy technology won over 50 medals and 8 special awards in national and international invention and innovation exhibitions. Prof Kamaruzzaman has published over 500 research papers in journals and conferences as well as speaking at numerous local and international conferences on renewable energy. He is also the Founding Member of the Malaysian Institute of Energy, Member of the World Renewable Energy Network, UK; Associate Editor of the Renewable Energy published by Elsevier Ltd. In addition, he heads several national subcommittees on renewable energy by the Malaysian government to develop roadmaps, promote awareness, market enhancement, policy studies and the applications renewable energy. He has been appointed as Special Professor of Renewable Energy in the Faculty of Built Environment, University of Nottingham, UK.

DATUK SERI DR MAXIMUS JOHNITY ONGKILI obtained his B.Sc. degree and later Ph.D. in Agricultural Science & Agricultural Economics from La Trobe University, Australia in 1981 and 1985 respectively. He also completed fellowship and summer programmes at The United Nations University, Tokyo and the Harvard Institute for International Development, Boston, USA. Datuk Seri Dr Maximus joined politic in the early 1994, when he was nominated to stand as a PBS candidate in the Sabah State General Elections 1994. He was appointed the PBS Secretary General before being elected to the present post as Deputy President in October, 1994. Dr Maximus is also the Chairman of the Party’s Disciplinary Committee. Prior to the dissolution of the Sabah State Assembly in March 2004, he served as the Science Advisor to the Chief Minister of Sabah. After winning the State Constituency seat of Tandek and Kota Marudu in March 2004 General Elections, Dr Maximus was appointed Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department in charge of National Unity & Integration. Datuk Seri’s previous working experiences include being lecturer at the UPM; Senior Researcher at ISIS Malaysia; Executive Director & Chief Executive of the Institute for Development Studies (IDS), Sabah. Datuk Seri is currently Minister of Science, Technology & Innovation.

DATO’ DR MICHAEL YEOH is Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Asian Strategy & Leadership Institute (ASLI), Malaysia’s leading independent think-tank and foremost Conference Organiser that brings together senior management, business and thought leaders in interactive and high level discussions. As CEO of ASLI, he conceptualised and founded the World Ethics & Transparency Forum, the World Islamic Economic Forum, the World Chinese Economic Forum, the ASEAN Leadership Forum and the Asia Economic Summit. He was Vice President of the Institute of Management Consultants and the Malaysian Institute of Directors. Contributing his time to national service, he served on the First and Second National Economic Consultative Councils. He was appointed by the Prime Minister to the National Unity Advisory Panel and the Royal Commission on Police. He is also Commissioner on Malaysia’s Human Rights Commission (SUHAKAM) and served as Chairman of its Economic, Cultural and Social Rights Working Group. In March 2010, he was appointed by the Prime Minister and Government of Malaysia to be Malaysia’s Representative on the newly-established ASEAN High-Level Task Force on Connectivity which was announced by the ASEAN Heads of States and Governments to develop ASEAN Connectivity focussing on ICT, Education, Human Capital Development, Transportation, Power and Energy.
