INTERNSHIPMARIA NUSINER
BACKGROUND
•Industrial Engineering, B.S.•Engineering Design, M.S.
OUTLINE1. Objectives
2. Theory of Operation• Kaps-All Capper• Bosch 2000 Encapsulation• Quadrel Labeler
3. Kaps-All Training Session
4. Preventive Maintenance (PM) Scheduling
5. Ergonomics Training
6. Objectives Accomplished
7. Lessons Learned
1 OBJECTIVES Work with technical subject matter experts (SME)
Research current on boarding practices and provide recommendations.
Develop a good understating of maintenance role in manufacturing sites.
Develop Theory of Operation for top 6 pieces of equipment (3 for each site).
Learn the use of skill matrices to understand current team capabilities as well as
develop training plans.
Define technical skill matrix for maintenance network.
2 THEORY OF OPERATION
“A description of how a device or system should work.”
WHAT
2 THEORY OF OPERATION• Create meaningful CIL and CL.
• Discrepancies between different mechanics and operators.
• Simple troubleshooting.

2 THEORY OF OPERATION1. Title page
2. Purpose of the document
3. Machine’s function
4. The machine in the production line
5. Overview of machine parts
6. Machine sequence
7. Description of each part of the machine
8. Normal operating sequence
9. References
OUTLINE
2 THEORY OF OPERATION1. Read manuals.
2. Write down important information on a PowerPoint slide.
3. Take notes on what pictures/videos you would like to include in the document.
4. Write down questions.
5. Go to the facility to take pictures/videos• Meet with the subject matter expert (SME) for this machine.
6. Include the images into the document.
7. Repeat steps 3 – 6 until document is finished.
8. Review the document’s content with the SME.• Get as much feedback as possible!!
HOW
2 THEORY OF OPERATION
•Be consistent.
•Always go from the most general to the more specific.
•Match between the system and the real world.
•Recognition rather than recall.
•Aesthetic and minimalistic design.WRAP-UP

TIPS
2 THEORY OF OPERATION•Train mechanics, setup mechanics and operators on these documents.
•CIL and CL
•Use format to create Theory of Operation documents for other machines.
•Constantly revise and update documents based on needs.
NEXT STEPS
3 TRAINING SESSION – KAPS-ALL
• Group: 10 mechanics
• Duration: 2hrs
• Discussions
4 PM SCHEDULING – NY MANUFACTURING (105)
4 PM SCHEDULING – BOCA
4 PM SCHEDULING – BOCA (BLDG 1297)
4 PM SCHEDULING – BOCA (BLDG 851)
4 PM SCHEDULING – BOCA (BLDG 901)
4 PM SCHEDULING – BOCA (BLDG 901)
5 ERGONOMICS TRAINING• Ergonomics: what it is and benefits.
• Examples of what to look for.
• Ergonomic Assessment Exercise:• Formed assessment groups.• Found examples of good and bad ergonomics practices.
6 ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Worked with technical subject matter experts (SME) in Manufacturing and Packaging to
understand Theory of Operations of key equipment.
Researched current on boarding practices and provided recommendation for
improvement.
Developed a good understating of maintenance role in manufacturing sites.
Developed Theory of Operation for top 3 pieces of equipment.
Developed PM scheduling
• NY Manufacturing
• Boca Manufacturing and Facilities
