    [3] CLASSES [0200]______________________________________________________________________________

    =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-WARRIOR/KNIGHT=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

The Warrior is your most well-rounded character, with good stats and a littlebelow average magic. He's got great HP, Defense, and Attack. You don't learnmuch magic at all, hence the low Magic Attack and Defense. As a Knight, youcan only learn some basic White Magic spells, and no more. Frankly, I thinkyou should always have one in your party, unless you're a real veteran atthis game and want a challenge.

    =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-MONK/MASTER=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

The Monk is the strongest character in the game, topping the Warrior'sattack. He has lower HP and Defense though, but his strength makes up for it.

He's best bare handed, which means that you shouldn't equip him with anyweapon at any time. It will just make him incredibly weak, making himvirtually useless. Monks also don't have any MP, which means that they can'tuse any type of magic. A Master isn't a big step up from a Monk, just betterattributes. I recommend a Monk for new players.

    =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-THIEF/NINJA=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Thieves are most well known for their agility, and that's what they're reallyonly good attribute. Agility is their best stat, and most is either average

or poor. He has low MP and Intelligence. His Attack, Defense, and HP ispretty average. Once upgraded, a Ninja can use some low level Black Magic, but I would use them for their speed, not magic. I think newbies should haveone in their party, but more experience players should replace them withlet's say, a mage of some sort.

    =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-BLACK MAGE/BLACK WIZARD=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

In my opinion, I think Black Mages are pretty useless. They have abysmal HP;the lowest in the game, and every other stat except MP and Intelligence are

pretty low. They have superb magic and Intelligence and some spells that onlythey can get, but it doesn't help. They'll end up getting killed easily.Black Mages get better attributes once upgraded, but not enough to make themexra useful. I think you should just use a Red Mage instead.

    =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-WHITE MAGE/WHITE WIZARD=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

  • 8/13/2019 Final Fantasy 1 walkthrough

    4/106

White Mages are your healing party members, which is the most importantaspect of a team. Of course they have average or poor stats, but their MP andincredibly useful and important White magic spells make up for it.

Their HP is still higher than the Black Mages, and their stats are somewhatbad. White Wizards gain better spells and get stronger. Despite their averagestats, White Mages are needed nearly every time in a battle and should alwaysbe in your party.

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-RED MAGE/RED WIZARD=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-What makes the Red Mage useful is that they are the only party member thatcan learn both White and Black magic. Sure, they can't learn every spell thatWhite and Black Mages can, but they learn enough to make them a veryimportant character.

They can still use basic healing spells, like Life, Protect, and Curaga. Theycan learn spells such as Blizzaga, Thundaga, and Firaga. They have a bit worseMP and Intelligence than the mages, but outflank them in terms of HP, Attack, and Defense. Red Wizards get stronger and can learn more spells as well. Ithink Red Mages are an incredibly important character to have in your party.

    [4] WALKTHROUGH [0400]______________________________________________________________________________

    ==============================================================================RESCUING THE PRINCESS [0401]==============================================================================

The game starts off with you in the World Map; right in front of a city. Youcan walk around and fight monsters, but head inside the city first by walking

    over it.

Once in the city, talk to the guy behind you. He will bring you to the King'sCastle where he asks for your party's help. He belives you are the prophesiedWarriors of Light, and he wants you to rescue his daugher, the princess. Hesays that he will rebuild the northern bridge if you can rescue her from thetraitor Garland. Leave the castle once the conversation ends and explore.

    =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-CORNELIA=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

You start off with 500 Gil, so there's no need to hunt for money. I willidentify the shops and their symbols:

    Inn - Inn .-------------------------.Lamp - Item Store | ITEM SHOP |Sword - Weapon Shop |-------------------------|Shield - Armor Shop | Antidode 50G |Diamond - Sanctuary | Phoenix Down 500G |Black Symbol - Black Magic Shop | Potion 40G |White Symbol - White Magic Shop | Sleeping Bag 50G |

I recommend that you stop to the Black Magic Shop and if you have a Black/RedMage, then pick up Fire or Thunder. Pick up Cure and Sleep at the White MagicShop as well, because you really should have a White Mage in your party. You

can only choose to have three magic spells per magic level, so choose wisely.

Your magic level will increase throughout the game, letting you buy moremagic and buying magic of that certain level. You can pick up a Potion or two,but not much. You might want to buy Chain Mail for your Warrior or Red Mageand a Rapier for most of your party members. Once you're done shopping, headoutside to the World Map.

---Get a feel for the vicinity and try to level up by fighting monsters outhere. Stay close to the city walls, because you can always go in the inn andheal up if you're low on HP. Try to level up to around level 4. Once you're

that level, go north past a cave on the mountainside. Don't worry about thatcave; you won't have to go there for a while. Keep heading north towards thepeninsula and enter the Chaos Shrine.

    =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-CHAOS SHRINE=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Monsters: Crazy Horse, Gigas Worm, Goblin Guard, Lizard, Ogre, Scorpion, Tarantula, Warg Wolf, Werewolf, Zombie Items: Leather Cap, Rune Blade, Werebuster

------------------------------------------------------------------------------From the entrance, go to the left and go down into the small room at the endof the shrine. Open the chest inside for a Leather Cap. Give it to one ofyour weaker party members. Go north and enter the room to find a Tent and aPotion inside the chests. Go back to the entrance of the shrine and headnorth into the center of the room. Talk to the man surrounded by bats toengage in your first boss battle!

"I, Garland, will knock you all down!"

Hey, he's the founder of the greatest FF1 || catchphrase, what's not to like? For a first boss, Garland is very || easy, that is, if you leveled up. I was level 4 when I fought him and I || did just fine. His attacks deal a somewhat large amount of damage, so || have your Mage (you have a Mage in your party, right?) use Cure if your || members' HP is getting low. Physical attacks are what you should mainly || use against Garland. || || Attack physically with your strong characters and if you have a Black || or Red Mage, use Fire or Thunder. If you don't have any spells, I || suggest going back to Cornelia and getting some. If your MP is low, || save it if your party is low on health. Just keep hacking away and the |

    | big guy will soon fall. |'-------------------------------------------------------------------------'

Once Garland is dead, the princess will thank you. She will ask you toreturn with her to Cornelia Castle, where you will be rewarded. Back at thecastle, the king thanks you early and repays you by fixing the northernbridge so you can access new territory. Once you are about to leave, thePrincess stops you and gives you the Lute. Exit the castle and stock up onany items or accessories in Cornelia.

    ==============================================================================THE EARTH CRYSTAL [0402]

==============================================================================Stay near Cornelia until you're about Level 5 or so, then go across thebridge to new land. Go north past the mountains and hang a left around thebend, and keep going north. You will find a small path of rocks with a caveentrance. Go inside and enter Matoya's Cave.

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-MATOYA'S CAVE=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-Stop inside and talk to the old hag. She'll mumble on about her Crystal Eye.

You can't do anything now here, so just pick up the Potion and Antidote fromthe chests and talk to the brooms. They will tell you to access the map;press Circle and Select at the same time to bring up the world map. It's veryuseful.

    ---

From Matoya's Cave, go back south near the bridge again but go east thistime. You'll be travelling quite a long way until you reach Pravoka. Thereare some even deadlier monsters here, so keep your guard up. If you are

seriously injured, either make a risky dash for Pravoka or turn back and makea stop at Cornelia. You will reach Pravoka past a small forest.

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-PRAVOKA=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-Pravoka is a port town with new shops where you can buy stronger weapons, armor, and spells. It's very pricey here, so don't go all out with the spellsand acessories.

After the fight, the captain, Bikke, will give you his pirate ship as anapology for his rudeness and wrongdoing. Now you have a ship, which makestravelling much easier. You can dock your ship on the white ports found allover the World Map. Stay at the Inn if needed and leave town.

---Directly south from Pravoka is a port wher you can dock your ship. Walk up tothe water to access your boat. The controls are the same as walking. Steeryour ship west and south. You can access another port near Cornelia if youneed to make a stop there. If not, go south from Cornelia port to findanother one. Dock your ship and walk south the the Elven Village, Elfheim.

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-ELFHEIM=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-Elfheim is an Elven Village with a castle to the north of it. You canpurchase both level 3 and 4 magic spells in this town, but you probably can't

    afford any level 4 spells.

Train outside of the village until you're about level 10 or 11. Remember topurchase Heal and Thundara. If you want to upgrade your armor, do so as well. The items here cost a lot, so you should gain Gil from defeating monstersoutside. Leave town and head for the castle.

---Travel west from Elfheim around the mountains, then go north through thelarge forest. Navigate around the two rivers and you will reach Western Keep.

The keep is abandoned except for one person. Head through the entrance and goleft, then up into the main quarters. Talk to the man to find out that he'sthe king. He will tell you that a dark elf, Astos, decieved him and stole hiscrown. The king asks you to return it to him by going to Marsh Cave so he canrestore glory to the castle. You can't access the locked door with the itemsin it, so ignore them for now.

---Return to Elfheim to prepare for your journey. Level up around the town andgain more Gil to purchase more useful spells and items. Make sure to pick upFira and Diara, which prove to be quite useful in Marsh Cave. Stock up on manyAntidotes and Tents, then head out to marsh Cave.

---Go west past the mountains. Head up past the forest and before the firstriver, go west through the mountains. Go shouth past the rocks and at thevery tip of the land is Marsh Cave.

    10/106

1F--The Marsh Cave is your first real big dungeon. I recommend that you should beat least level 11 before you hang out in this place, so level up outside ifyou're not that level. Watch out for the slimes. Most of the slimes youencounter here are immune to physical attacks, so whip out the magic spells.Green Slimes and Scorpions can poison you; that's why I told you to buy lotsof Antidotes. First off, go east and north from the exit. Walk down thenarrow, winding path. You will reach an exit at the end of the pathway.

2F--On the next floor, go north and east towards the door. Go inside and pick upthe Dagger from the chest. Exit the room and go west past the rock pillarsand into the next room. Pick up the Gil from the chest, exit the room, and gosouth around the stone pillars into the next room. You will find a Broadswordand more Gil. Equip the Broadsword if it gives an attack boost to any of yourparty members, then leave the floor through the entrance.

1F--Back in the first floor, go back to the entrance. This time, head south, andkeep going south past the fork in the road. Go past the room and go throughthe door on the eastern side. You will find another ladder leading to the

basement. Go down the ladder to the last floor.

3F--The basement is a giant floor filled with small rooms which all hold chests. The four bottom rooms are locked and cannot be opened yet, so ignore them. From the ladder, go douth and into the first room to find a Phoenix Down. Goeast to the last room and pick up the Gil inside. Head south to the next rowof rooms and go west into the third room. Get the Cottage inside, then on thenext room is a Copper Armlet. It's very useful, so have someone equip it.Proceed south from that room past the pillars. The first room is empty, butthe room to the right of it is where the crown is. Go inside, but when youtry to open the chest, you are ambushed. Boss time!

    .-------------------------------------------------------------------------.| BOSS: Piscodemons ||-------------------------------------------------------------------------|| HP: 84 DEF: 16 EVA: 66 EXP: 276 || ATK: 30 AGI: 33 M DEF: 98 Drop: N/A || ACC: 21 INT: 18 GIL: 300 || || Weakness: Lightning || Resistance: Fire, Stone, Poison, Sleep, Confusion, Ice, Paralysis, || Darkness, Silence, Mind ||-------------------------------------------------------------------------|

    | See, this battle is kind of strange. The reason is because you'll fight || a random amount of Piscodemons. It could be two; it could be seven. || It's totally randomized. They have a pretty high attack, so watch out || for that. Use Protect to help reduce the damage if you have the spell. || Their health is pretty low, so I suggest using physical attacks and || have your Red/Black Mage use Thundara to wipe them out quickly. They || shouldn't give you too much trouble, but the difficulty of this battle || will be harder with more Piscodemons to fight. You will also fight || these guys if you try to open a treasure chest in the locked rooms || which you can access later in the game. |

  • 8/13/2019 Final Fantasy 1 walkthrough

    11/106

    '-------------------------------------------------------------------------'

Once the Piscodemons are defeated, open the chest to find the Crown. Now youcan return to Western Keep and present it to the king. Exit Marsh Cave thesame way you came in, and pick up any items that you missed or intentionallypassed by. Exit to the World Map.

    ---

Return to Elfheim and heal up, then go back to Western Keep.

Monsters: None Items: Falchion, Power Staff, Steel Gloves

------------------------------------------------------------------------------You still can't open the locked door, but you will soon. Head into the mainquarters again and talk to the king. You give him the crown, and he startslaughing maniacally. That doesn't sound like a king, does it? Nope; it's a

trap! (had to do it) The king reveals himself as the king of the dark Elves,Astos himself. It was all a trick. You fell for his plan, and now since Astoshas the Crown, he can rule over the elves with an iron fist! Not if we haveanything to say about it.

    .-------------------------------------------------------------------------.| BOSS: Astos ||-------------------------------------------------------------------------|| HP: 420 DEF: 18 EVA: 78 EXP: 2250 || ATK: 30 AGI: 39 M DEF: 170 Drop: Mythril Sword || ACC: 42 INT: 24 GIL: 2000 || |

    | Weakness: None || Resistance: None ||-------------------------------------------------------------------------|| Well, another surprisingly easy boss. Astos has quite a bit of HP, but || his attack is low. I was level 14 when I fought him, and I had little || trouble. He has a spell called Death, which kills one of your party || members instantly. That's not a good thing; so make sure you have some || Phoenix Downs with you. Temper really helps in this battle, because he || has such a high amount of Magic Defense, offensive spells aren't very || useful in this battle. Have your Mage cast Temper on the character with || the highest attack, and use physical attacks all the way. Have your || White Mage cure a lot, and Astos will go down over time. You get a || joyous amount of Gil and EXP for beating the king of the Dark Elves. |

    '-------------------------------------------------------------------------'

You will recieve not only a nice sword, but a Crystal Eye from Astos. Equipthe Mythril Sword to your Warrior and exit the keep once Astos is killed.

    ---

Return to your boat, which should still be at the post near Elfheim. Headback to the Pravoka port, then travel west all the way back to Matoya's Cave.

You should really equip these weapons because they're a little different. TheWerebuster deals more damage to werewolf type enemies, and the Rune Bladedeals more damage to spellcasters. They can be useful if you switch outweapons for these ones when you get in a battle with those two types ofenemies. You can now leave the shrine.

    ---

Phew! That was a lot of backtracking, but it was worth it. Go back to yourboat and sail west past Cornelia and dock on the northern port past the town.Go southwest and explore the mountainside, train, and finally you will cometo a small hole.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mt. Duergar is home to a happy little gnome who is having a bit of trouble. The gnome, Nerrick, has been trying to blow open a canal to the westerncontinent. Remember that Nitro Powder you got from Cornelia Castle? Give itto him, and with that explosive, he will be able to destroy the land and makethe canal. Explore the mountain and open the two locked doors to gain accessto some treaure vaults.

The northern room holds Gil and the southern one holds Gil, items, andpowerful armor and weapons. The Wyrmkiller deals extra damage to dragon-typeenemies. Once you have given Nerrick the Nitro Powder and collected all ofthe items, leave Mt Duergar.

    ---

Now you have a lot more access to the world. Return to your ship and sailthrough the canal by going southwest from the port. Ignore the whirlpool fornow; don't sail in it. Go past the island to find a port next to a town. Dockyour ship and enter the town.

I never understood why there are so many enemies to encounter in thesedungeons. It's simply ridiculous.

1F--This is going to be a long journey to the bottom of the cavern. Hill Gigasand Earth Elementals are the strongest monsters in this place. Cockatricesare also found here in large packs, and have a tendancy to petrify you.Hopefully you have Gold Needles. If not, then I recommend going back to townand getting some. Go north from the entrance around the corner to find asmall room. Go inside and get 1975 Gil. Nice! Return to the entrance and tryto stay away from the western side. There's this weird glitch (?) where everystep you take is a random encounter.

From the first two rocks, go south all the way down to the bottom of thecavern. Go west into the room where you can find 5575 Gil and a LeatherShield. Psh, the shield is useless, but that's a lot of Gil! Return to thelandmark point. Go east, but this time go south once you reach the wall. Goeast, then north again to find another staircase.

Go west a bit, then north all the way to the top of thefloor. Go east from there and south once you see the first path. Once youcan't go any further, head east to go through a door. There's a nice GoldNeedle which will probably se useful in the chest. Go north back to where youwere and this time go west. You'll find a door.

Go north inside to find 3400 Gil. Go back outside and head west. Go south atthe wall and west again. Go south and you will pass through three rockpathways. Don't bother going through the fourth; it leads to a dead end. Goeast after the third one to find a door. Go inside to pick up 1020 Gil. Goback outside and head down. This area is basically a giant volcano, filled to the brim with lava andall nasty stuff like that. The fact that you cannot encounter enemies on lavatiles doesn't mean you should tread all over them. The tiles covered in lavawill damage you each time you step on them, so avoid 'em as much as possible.

1F--The first floor is pretty small, but the center is filled with lava. You'llhave to step through numerous lava tiles, but try to shorten your trip acrossto minimize damage taken. Go north from the stairs and around the bend.

Proceed west, across the lava, then into the staircase north of yourlocation.

2F--The second floor is the first area in Mt. Gulg where a large option is inyour path. Several areas in this dungeon give you two options: take the easyroad to the next floor and miss out on many valuable items and equipment, ortake the long road to get all of the goodies. Of coruse, I will be guidingyou through the longer route. If you don't want any of the items, then simplygo west across the lava to the next staircase.

If you want the items, then go through the doorway next to the floor

entrance. Go north until you reach the first intersection, then move westtowards the first chest. Open it to get a Mythril Helm. Continue souththrough the tunnels until you reach another chest containing 1520 Gil,situated at a dead end.

Return to the treasure chest where you found the Mythril Helm. Go back to theintersection and walk north this time. Once you reach another fork in theroad that splits to the right and left, take the left path. Follow thepassage until you reach a dead end with a chest at the end. Open it for aGreat Sword and return to the fork.

Equip all of that new equipment to your partymembers and return to the entrance to the floor. Now you can continue eastacross the lava to the staircase. Go through to access the next floor.

3F--There are no treasure chests on this floor. Instead of having multiple spacesfilled with lava, many of the tiles on the floor are checkered with lava.Navigate east towards the staircase, stepping on the least amount of lavatiles as you can. Once you reach the stairs, descend them to the next floorof the volcano.

--Nearly every tile on this floor is covered in lava. Luckily, there are a fewsafe spots here, found in the form of giant rock structures. From theentrance, run south towards dry land. Walk around the wall, then go south tothe next rock structure directly below. From there, move east towards anotherrock. The staircase is to the right of the rock; run over to it to head tothe next floor.

5F--Head south from the entrance of the floor across the lava. You will reach alarge rock. From the rock, go west onto dry land. Walk over to the next rockto the left, then proceed south over the lava tiles. Walk across more dry

land, then once you step on the lava, head west across the lava. Keep movingwest and you will come to another staircase.

6F--This next floor has a lot of treasures to get. Walk through the doorway fromthe start and open both chests inside: they contain a Gold Needle and 2750Gil. Exit and head west, then south. At the intersection, stick to thewestern side and enter the first doorway that you come to. Go inside and openthe chest for 1750 Gil.

Similar to the Gauntlets, when selected from the item menu, thisweapon will cast Heal on your entire party. It can't be used now, so save itfor later.

Walk west down the hallway and open the chests at the end for Steel Gloves,Ice Brand, and a Ruby Armlet. Equip these to any members if needed. Headsouth and open the chests for 7340 Gil, 2455 Gil, and a Cottage. Continueeast down the hallway and open the chest for a Rat's Tail. Hooray? As youstep on the throne, you will be ambushed.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Many of the Dragon Caves are small rooms with treasures in them. Go fromisland to island and loot them out. You can find several items, but most ofthe caves are filled with Gil. One cave is nothing but a long hallway. Godown the hallway and down the stairs. On the next floor, walk up to Bahamut,King of the Dragons. Talk to him and by giving him the Rat's Tail, he willupgrade your classes! Woo!

The class change is very beneficial to your party. Warriors will becomeKnights, and they will be able to learn low-level White magic spells (up tolevel 3), such as Cure and Dia. You are also able to equip a wider variety ofweapons and armor.

Thiefs will become Ninjas. Ninjas can now learn low-level Black magic spells(up to level 4), such as Fire and Thunder. They can also equip more weaponsand armor to Ninjas.

Your Wizards can now learn more powerful spells. I suggest returning toMelmond and buying level 5 Black magic (preferrably Teleport). Pick up theExit spell at Crescent Lake. If you have a Red Mage (now Red Wizard), he can

learn a lot more spells. Go back to various towns and have him learn Blackand White magic spells. Remember, you may have to delete older spells to makeroom for newer ones. Once you're ready to continue your journey, return toyour airship.

In your airship, fly to the northwest continent. Fly towards the desert andland your ship on the small patch of grass south of it. Wal across the deserttowards the north end. Walk onto the sandy part next to the forest to reach a

Now, my strategy here will || be for people who encounter him earlier in the game. If you've gone || through the bonus dungeons and come back to find him, I doubt you won't || have trouble with him. || || People who find him while going to fight Tiamat will have a tough time |
