The phenotypes, if any, were documented and compared to wild type C. elegans. - Colonies of C. elegans were grown weekly on agar plates to use for class which we classified as NGM (Nematode Growth Media) plates. - Essentially a plasmid with the Pbs-3 gene inhibitor vector inserted into it was introduced to a culture plate where C. elegans were grown. They ingested this inhibitor blocking the expression of Pbs- 3 and producing specific phenotypes. LAB EXPERIENCEInstructor guided research

Conducted a study of the effects the Pbs-3 gene had on the organism C. elegans when removed by way of RNAi. The phenotypes, if any, were documented and compared to wild type C. elegans.- Colonies of C. elegans were grown weekly on agar plates to use for class which we classified as

NGM (Nematode Growth Media) plates.- Essentially a plasmid with the Pbs-3 gene inhibitor vector inserted into it was introduced to a culture

plate where C. elegans were grown. They ingested this inhibitor blocking the expression of Pbs-3 and producing specific phenotypes.

Microscopy Studied advanced microscopy techniques ranging from Compound Light Microscopes to Transition Electron

Microscopy (TEM).- Worked with the Ultramicrotome to prepare thin sections for TEM.- Studied various imaging techniques such as Fluorescence, Koehler Illumination, and Digital

microscopy.
