The filtration unit is used for the clean up / filtration of hydraulic and lubricating oils in the bypass flow, the unfiltered filling of hydraulic systems, circulation pumping and the drainage of hydraulic tanks.

The mobile filtration unit is designed for the filling of hydraulic tanks, whilst simultaneously filtering the fluid. It also provides offline filtration and can be used for draining hydraulic tanks as well as for pumping out hydraulic and lubrication oils without filtration.

Consult and observe the following section in order to prepare the unit for operation.

Inserting filter element / first commissioning The unit has no filter element installed upon delivery from the factory. Emptying unit - preventing oil mixing If you want to use the same oil for operation as in the previous operation, it is not serious if the oils are mixed. If you do not know which oil was previously filtered with the unit, change the filter element and completely empty the unit in order to prevent mixing with the residual oil in the filtration unit.

If different oils are mixed, the oil properties can change as follows:

• Higher risk of cavitation

• More seal wear

• Modified anti-wear properties

If there is a height difference (Δh) between the suction-side and pressure-side tanks, a suction effect can develop in the hose that is lower down, causing the fluid levels to equalize in accordance with a principle of communicating vessels (siphoning). This siphoning effect also occurs when fluid is pumped in a pre-pressurized tank. When the unit is switched off, the height difference/primary pressure can cause flow to occur both in the feed direction and against the feed direction and fluid can leak uncontrollably.

To clean the suction strainer, proceed as follows:

1. Rotate the protection pipe (5) away from the suction lance (2) in a clockwise direction.

2. Remove the suction strainer (4) from the protection pipe.

3. Clean the suction strainer (4) by washing it out and then blowing it out with compressed air.

4. Insert the suction strainer (4) into the protection pipe (5) with the tip facing forwards.

5. Screw the protection pipe (5) on to the suction lance (2) in a counterclockwise direction.

Depending on the version, the unit has a visual back-pressure indicator (2) (red/green) or a scale in the filter cover. Changing the filter element

To change the filter, proceed as follows:

1. Switch the unit off.

2. Depressurize the filter housing. Remove the air bleed screw (1) in the filter cover for this purpose. The residual oil is drained through the drain ball valve (2) into a suitable container.

3. Loosen the four screws on the

cover in a counterclockwise direction.

4. Fold the screws down and press

them against the filter housing. This pushes the cover of the filter housing up.

5. Take the cover off and remove the

filter element.

6. Clean any coarse dirt from the inside of the filter housing as well as from the sealing surfaces on the housing and the cover.

For easier installation of the filter element, wet the O-ring on the filter element with the operating medium.

8. Press the new filter element down

into the filter mount by turning it slightly.

Do not use excessive force or a hammer, etc.

9. Check the O-ring on the cover for

damage and replace it if necessary. Lightly wet the O-ring on the cover with medium.
