8/2/2019 Filming for Mediaaa
http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/filming-for-mediaaa 1/2
The first day of filming went quite well, I managed to get the first half of my filming done,
and then did the second half the next day. It covered most of the shots of Zoe, although the
filming of shown in the first and third picture needed re-filming due to continuity errors.
There were bags in the background which would be there in one shot and not in the other,
and there were often shots with people in the background. This was due to poor planning,
luckily the next day it was quieter and much more organised.
The rest of the pictures were the shots of Zoe walking through the field, shown at the end
of the music video. I put Zoe in two separate costumes for this scene, one was a red dress
with a white cardigan, and the other was a more casual blue jeans and dark blue jacket. The
second costume was the one we went along with because it fitted in with the mood and
tone of the music video better and helped with the mise en scene. Although, I have used the
picture of Zoe in the other costume as the front cover of my digipak, this is because I liked
the colouring of that picture and thought it worked well as the cover of it.
These pictures also show the majority of the equipment I used. I used an SLR camera, a
tripod and the reflector. The reflector helped shine light onto the characters I shown. In this
day of filming I also managed to film some of the flashbacks, there was a lot of changing of
costumes in this bit for Zoe, so it establishes that the flashbacks were of a different time
period to the shots of Zoe walking through the woods. I didn’t get many photos of the
filming of the flashbacks due to the fact that there was no one to take them, as Dan was
taking most of the pictures that day and he was being filmed at the time. The filming of the
flashbacks went very well, and made it to the finished version of the music video.

The second day of filming went much better than the first. At this stage I was still using Dan as the
singer as well as the actor of the boyfriend, this changed after the first stage of the editing process,
where I realised it wasn’t working out. The first, second, third, and fourth photos show me filming
Dan at the second location. This location worked well, although I didn’t put it in the music video
because I didn’t end up using Dan as this actor, and I couldn’t film Alex in this location because it was
too far for us to travel at the later stage of filming. I managed to film a variety of shots in thislocation though, and helped me improve for my later filming of Alex, so it was a key part of my
progress. I realised which shots worked and which ones didn’t, which helped me with filming later
on.
The second location shown in the sixth to the tenth photos, didn’t work well at all. This was due to
the height of the location, which meant the winds were very strong. We did a minute amount of
filming, but the actor couldn’t perform well due to the weather conditions. It would’ve been a
danger to the actors and the equipment if we carried on filming there, so we used the back-up
location, which I mentioned earlier and is shown in the first few photos.
The last two photos are of me filming the over the shoulder shot of Zoe looking at the photo and
walking away, and the side shots of Zoe sat on the hill. All of these shots made it into the final
version of my music video, because they worked well in the editing process and were very
successful. The wind was also an issue in this location, but we managed to overcome this.
Some of the filming that I did on this day wasn’t captured again though. This consists of the filming
of the rest of the flashbacks, and the filming of the locations which I was going to use in the opening
sequence of my music video. The filming of these all worked very well, once again most of the
filming of the flashbacks made it to the final version of the music video, yet I had to re-film most of
the location shots again.
