Perforation Sizes and Shapes

“Negative” perforation used on most 35 mm camera negative films. The Bell & Howell perforation evolved from early “round” perforations.

“Positive” perforation. Larger size, rounded corners are used for extra strength. Used primarily for 35 mm release prints.

Perforations are the same form (size and shape) for all film types; however, camera origination (negative or reversal) films have shorter pitch.
