Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro (1979)

First directorial debut of Miyazaki

Basic plot: Gentleman thief Arsène Lupin III and friend Daisuke Jigen rob a casino. Only to discover that the money is counterfeit. Lupin recognises this from before and goes once again to seek out the source.

Genre: Adventure, comedy

The beloved Fiat 500F,  owned by Yasuo Ohtsuka, the head animator of the Lupin series

My Neighbor Totoro (1988)  The film follows the two

young daughters of a professor and their interactions with friendly wood spirits in post-war rural Japan

 Miyazaki's production paralleled his colleague Isao Takahata's production of Grave of the Fireflies (1988)

Art style became iconic to Studio Ghibli

That’s pretty much the film, but without Catbus and the soot sprites

Princess Mononoke (1997) ‘Period drama with

numerous fantastical elements. The story concentrates on involvement of the outsider Ashitaka in the struggle between the guardians of a forest and the humans of the Iron Town who consume its resources’

Used some CGI mixed with traditional hand drawn animtion
