satisfaction. Now a company set up in Portland, called Vocation

Vacations, gives people the chance to test drive their dream jobs.

What does Vocation Vacations do?

It enlists professionals from a variety of fields and pairs them with people who fantasize about leaving their day jobs and want to spend a few days in a profession that they had previously thought beyond their reach.

How does it work?

Participants pay from a few hundred dollars to a few thousand to experience life as, say, a race-car driver. But they don’t need to leave their own jobs or invest heavily in a new career. They can do it for a day or two.

How successful is Vocation Vacations?

To date, it has placed hundreds of people in the US and Britain in occupations ranging from art-gallery director to music producer.

Thanks to Vocation Vacations, many people have stopped day-dreaming and are now living the dream.
