Entre los que habían lle-gado a Jerusalén para ado-rar a Dios en la fiesta de Pascua, había algunos griegos, los cuales se acercaron a Felipe, el de Betsaida de Galilea, y le pidieron: "Señor, quisiéra-mos ver a Jesús". Felipe fue a decír-selo a Andrés; Andrés y
Felipe se lo dijeron a Jesús y él les respondió: "Ha llegado la hora de que el Hijo del hombre sea glorificado. Yo les aseguro que si el grano de trigo, sembrado en la tierra, no muere, queda infecundo; pero si muere, producirá mucho fruto. El que se ama a sí mismo, se pierde; el que se abo-rrece a sí mismo en este mundo, se asegura para la vida eterna. El que quiera servirme, que me siga, para que donde yo esté, también esté mi servidor. El que me sirve será honrado por mi Padre. Ahora que tengo miedo, ¿le voy a decir a mi Pa-dre: 'Padre, líbrame de esta hora'? No, pues precisamente para esta hora he venido. Padre, dale gloria a tu nombre". Se oyó entonces una voz que decía: "Lo he glorificado y volveré a glorificarlo". De entre los que estaban ahí presentes y oyeron aquella voz, unos decían que había sido un trueno; otros, que le había hablado un ángel. Pero Jesús les dijo: "Esa voz no ha venido por mí, sino por ustedes. Está llegando el juicio de este mundo; ya va a ser arrojado el príncipe de este mundo. Cuando yo sea levantado de la tierra, atraeré a todos hacia mí". Dijo esto, indicando de qué manera habría de morir.
La Novena a la Divina Misericordia empezara el día 30 de marzo a las 9PM. Todos los feligreses están invitados a participar. El horario complete de la no-vena será publicado en el próximo boletín.

San José Fiesta el 19 de marzo
Así es como nació Jesucristo. Su madre María estaba comprometida con José; pero antes de que vinieran a vivir juntos, se descubrió que estaba encinta por medio del Espíritu Santo. Su esposo, José, siendo un hombre recto y que quería perdonar su desgracia, decidió divorciarse de ella informal-mente. Había decidido hacerlo cuando, de repente, el ángel del Señor se le apareció en sueños y le dijo: "José, hijo de David, no temas llevar a María a casa como a tu esposa, por-que ella ha concebido lo que es en ella por el Espíritu Santo. Ella dará a luz un hijo y tú debes ponerle el nombre de Jesús, porque él es quien debe salvar a su pueblo de sus pecados. "Todo esto sucedió para cumplir lo que el Señor había dicho por medio del profeta: ¡Mira! La virgen está encinta y dará a luz a un hijo a quien llamarán Emanuel, (véase Isaías 7:14) un nombre que significa "Dios está con nosotros". Cuando José despertó, hizo lo que el ángel de la Lord le había dicho que lo hiciera: llevó a su esposa a su casa; no había tenido relaciones sexua-les con ella cuando dio a luz a un hijo; y lo llamó Jesús. -Mateo 1: 18-25 NJB Algunos versículos en Mateo y Lucas nos dicen todo lo que sabemos sobre San José. Brindan la información sufi-
ciente para demostrar por qué fue la opción divina para con-vertirse en el esposo de María y el padre adoptivo de Jesús. José era genealógicamente perfecto para estos roles. Un des-cendiente lejano del Rey David, le dio a Cristo el Rey su lina-je real. Joseph también vino de la ciudad natal correcta. Era de Belén, la ciudad que las Escrituras predijeron que produci-ría el Mesías (véase Miqueas 5: 1). Y como carpintero (véase Mateo 13:55), José era pobre: la condición de preferencia de Cristo. Las Escrituras describen a José como abierto a Dios, obediente, recto y, sobre todo, amable. El santo mostró todas estas cualidades en su manejo del embarazo sorpresa de Ma-ría. ¡Imagínese la confusión de emociones que debe haberlo inundado cuando María le confió que iba a tener un bebé por el Espíritu Santo! Como devoto observador de la ley, José sabía que podría tener que repudiar su compromiso. Pero su amabilidad y confianza en Mary le impidieron dar un paso tan duro, lo que la avergonzaría. Incluso puede haberla puesto en peligro de la pena capital (véase Deuteronomio 22: 20-21). Joseph debe haber agonizado por su decisión, rezando atenta-mente al respecto. Finalmente, decidió divorciarse de Mary en silencio. Pero José estaba abierto a Dios, y en un sueño un mensajero divino le dijo que llevara a Mary a casa como su esposa. Joseph hizo exactamente lo que le dijeron. El sabio trato de José con María es un modelo para nosotros cuando enfrentamos problemas morales y personales complejos. Él subordinó sus sentimientos para hacer lo que Dios requería. Estaba abierto a lo que Dios quisiera, y cuando sintió la voluntad divina, obedeció.

V Niedziela Wielkiego Postu Wśród tych, którzy przybyli, aby oddać pokłon /Bogu/ w czasie święta, byli też niektórzy Grecy. Oni więc przystąpili do Filipa, pochodzącego z Betsaidy Galilejskiej, i prosili go mówiąc: Panie, chcemy ujrzeć Jezusa. Filip poszedł i powiedział Andrzejowi. Z kolei Andrzej i Filip poszli i powiedzieli Jezusowi. A Jezus dał im taką odpowiedź: Nadeszła godzina, aby został uwielbiony Syn Człowieczy. Zaprawdę, zaprawdę, powiadam wam: Jeżeli ziarno pszenicy wpadłszy w ziemię nie obumrze, zostanie tylko samo, ale jeżeli obumrze, przynosi plon obfity. Ten, kto kocha swoje życie, traci je, a kto nienawidzi swego życia na tym świecie, za-chowa je na życie wieczne. A kto by chciał Mi służyć, niech idzie na Mną, a gdzie Ja jestem, tam będzie i mój sługa. A jeśli ktoś Mi służy, uczci go mój Ojciec. Teraz dusza moja doznała lęku i cóż mam powiedzieć? Ojcze, wybaw Mnie od tej godziny. Nie, wła-śnie dlatego przyszedłem na tę godzinę. Ojcze, wsław Twoje imię. Wtem rozległ się głos z nieba: Już wsławiłem i jeszcze wsła-wię. Tłum stojący /to/ usłyszał i mówił: Zagrzmiało! Inni mówili: Anioł przemówił do Niego. Na to rzekł Jezus: Głos ten rozległ się nie ze względu na Mnie, ale ze względu na was. Teraz odbywa się sąd nad tym światem. Teraz władca tego świata zostanie precz wyrzucony. A Ja, gdy zostanę nad ziemię wywyższony, przyciągnę wszystkich do siebie. To powiedział zaznaczając, jaką śmiercią miał umrzeć.

Najświętszej Maryi Panny Odnośnie życia św. Józefa musi-my polegać na tym, co przekazały o nim Ewangelie. Poświęcają mu one łącznie 26 wierszy, a jego imię wymieniają 14 razy. Osobą św. Józefa zajmują się wprawdzie bardzo żywo także apokryfy: Pro-toewangelia Jakuba (z w. II), Ewangelia Pseudo-Mateusza (w. VI), Ewangelia Narodzenia Maryi (w. IX), Ewangelia Tomasza (w. II) i Historia Józefa Cieśli (w. IV). Intere-sują się one rodziną św. Józefa, jego małżeństwem, ro-dzajem pracy i śmiercią. Zbyt wiele w nich jednak le-gend, by można je było traktować poważnie. Niewiele mówią one także o latach dzieciństwa i wczesnej młodo-ści św. Józefa. Józef pochodził z rodu króla Dawida. Wykazuje to św. Mateusz w genealogii przodków św. Józefa. Genealogię przytacza również św. Łukasz. Ta jednak różni się za-sadniczo od tej, którą nam przekazuje św. Mateusz. Już Julian Afrykański (w. III) wyraża zdanie, że jest to ge-nealogia Najśw. Maryi Panny. Św. Łukasz, który tak wiele nam podał szczegółów z Jej życia, mógł nam i jej rodowód również przekazać. Na mocy prawa lewitatu św. Józef mógł być synem Jakuba, a równocześnie ad-optowanym synem Heli, noszącego także w tradycji chrześcijańskiej imię Joachima, który był ojcem Naj-świętszej Panny. Tak więc genealogia przytoczona przez św. Łukasza wyliczałaby przodków Maryi rzeczywi-stych, a odnośnie Józefa jego przodków zalegalizowa-nych. Taka jest dzisiaj opinia przez wielu biblistów przyjęta. Mimo wysokiego pochodzenia Józef nie posiadał żadne-go majątku. Na życie zarabiał stolarstwem i pracą jako cieśla. Zdaniem św. Justyna (ok. 100 - ok. 166), który żył bardzo blisko czasów Apostołów, św. Józef wykony-wał sochy drewniane i jarzma na woły. Przygotowywał więc narzędzia gospodarcze i rolnicze. Autor Pseudoe-wangelii Filipa (w. III) nazywa Józefa stolarzem. Zarę-czony z Maryją, Józef stanął przed tajemnicą cudowne-go poczęcia. Św. Józef nie był według ciała ojcem Chry-stusa. Był nim jednak według prawa żydowskiego jako prawomocny małżonek Maryi. Chociaż więc Maryja porodziła Pana Jezusa dziewiczo, to jednak wobec pra-wa żydowskiego i otoczenia św. Józef był uważany za ojca Pana Jezusa. Tak go też nazywają Ewangelie. W takiej sytuacji trzeba było wykazać, że Józef pochodził w prostej linii od króla Dawida, jak to zapowiadali pro-rocy. Pochodziła też według św. Łukasza z rodu Dawida także Matka Boża. Pan Jezus pochodził zatem z rodu Dawida i poprzez Matkę (materialnie), i poprzez św. Józefa (prawnie). Zapraszamy w Uroczystość św. Fifth Sunday of Lent John 12:20-33
Jesus teaches his disciples about the way in which he will be glorified by God, and a voice from heaven is heard to affirm this teaching. Background on the Gospel Reading Today’s Gospel
reading is taken from the Gospel of John. We are reading much further into John’s Gospel than we have for the past two weeks. Chapter 12 of John’s Gospel is a preparation for the beginning of the passion narrative to follow. Jesus has just raised Lazarus from the dead—an important sign in John’s Gospel, which inspired many people to believe in Jesus. This event also marks the turning point in Jesus’ conflict with the Jewish authorities. John’s Gospel tells us that the Sanhedrin met after this event and made plans to kill Jesus. In the 12th chapter of John’s Gospel, Jesus is anointed at Bethany and enters Jerusalem in triumph. We again see evidence of the significance of the raising of Lazarus to this event; John reports that the crowds also gathered to see Lazarus. Following his triumphant entry into Jerusalem, Jesus predicted his suffering, death, and Resurrection and prepared his disciples to believe in the salvation that his death would accomplish. Using the metaphor of the grain of wheat, Jesus presented the idea that his dying would be beneficial. He also taught that those who would be his disciples must follow his example of sacrifice. This theme will be repeated in John’s account of the Last Supper, when Jesus washed the feet of his disciples as an example of how they must serve one another. The final section of today’s Gospel might be read as John’s parallel to the agony in the garden. Unlike the Synoptic Gospels, the Gospel of John does not record Je-sus’ anguished prayer in the garden of Gethsemane before his arrest. Although comparable words are found in to-day’s reading, Jesus gives a confident response to the question he raises when asking God to save him from his impending death. After announcing his conviction that it is for this purpose that he came, a voice from heaven speaks, as if in answer to Jesus’ prayer. This voice, like the one heard at Jesus’ baptism and at Jesus’ Transfigura-tion—events reported in the Synoptic Gospels but not in John’s Gospel—affirms that God welcomes the sacrifice that Jesus will make on behalf of others. In John’s Gos-pel, Jesus teaches that this voice was sent for the sake of those who would believe in him. In today’s Gospel, we also hear Jesus speak about the cosmic framework against which we are to understand his passion, death, and Resurrection. Through his death and Resurrection, Jesus conquered Satan, the ruler of this world. In this way the world is judged, but the judgment is not condemnation. Instead, through Jesus’ dying and rising, salvation is brought to the world.

This is how Jesus Christ came to be born. His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph; but before they came to live together she was found to be with child through the
Holy Spirit. Her husband Joseph, being an upright man and wanting to spare her disgrace, decided to divorce her informally. He had made up his mind to do this when sud-denly the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because she has conceived what is in her by the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son and you must name him Jesus, because he is the one who is to save his people from their sins.” Now all this took place to fulfill what the Lord had spoken through the prophet: Look! The virgin is with child and will give birth to a son whom they will call Immanuel, (see Isaiah 7:14) a name which means “God-is-with-us.” When Joseph woke up he did what the angel of the Lord had told him to do: he took his wife to his home; he had not had inter-course with her when she gave birth to a son; and he named him Jesus. —Matthew 1:18–25 NJB A few verses in Matthew and Luke tell us all we know about St. Joseph. They provide just enough infor-mation to demonstrate why he was the divine choice to become the husband of Mary and the foster father of Je-sus. Joseph was genealogically perfect for these roles. A distant descendant of King David, he gave Christ the King his royal lineage. Joseph also came from the right hometown. He was from Bethlehem, the city that Scrip-ture predicted would produce the messiah (see Micah 5:1). And as a carpenter (see Matthew 13:55), Joseph was poor—Christ’s condition of preference. Scripture portrays Joseph as open to God, obedi-ent, upright, and, above all, kind. The saint displayed all of these qualities in his handling of Mary’s surprise preg-nancy. Imagine the confusion of emotions that must have flooded him when Mary confided that she was going to have a baby by the Holy Spirit! As a devout observer of the law, Joseph knew that he might have to repudiate his betrothal. But his kindness and confidence in Mary pre-vented his taking such a harsh step, which would have shamed her. It may have even put her in danger of capital punishment (see Deuteronomy 22:20–21). Joseph must have agonized over his decision, praying intently about it. Finally he decided to divorce Mary quietly. But Joseph was open to God, and in a dream a divine messenger told him to take Mary home as his wife. Joseph did exactly as he was told. Joseph’s wise dealing with Mary is a model for us when we face complex moral and personal issues. He subordinated his feelings to do what God required. He was open to whatever God wanted, and when he sensed the divine will, he obeyed. Masses: 7:30 AM (English), 8:15 AM & 8PM (Spanish),
