WHAT IS FIELD OF DREAMS?

Field of Dreams is Jays Care's granting program for infrastructure dedicated to youth life skill development and physical activity. The Field of Dreams grants program provides funding to design, refurbish, and build safe spaces for children and youth to play baseball, develop life skills and learn from positive role models. Jays Care has invested over $8.15 million in safe spaces for children and youth all across Canada.

JAYS CARE FOUNDATION believes in a level playing field where all Canadian children and youth have the opportunity to thrive and succeed. One way we are working to achieve this goal is through FIELD OF DREAMS.

WHY FIELD OF DREAMS?

Baseball has the power to change lives for children - to play is to learn. Baseball diamonds, and other sport facilities, are classrooms for the children and youth of Canada. Kids should be proud of the places where they play, learn life skills and participate in an important step in their socialization. Field of Dreams helps build high-quality sport facilities for children and youth to play, develop and learn from positive role models.

HOW MUCH FUNDING IS AVAILABLE THROUGH THE FIELD OF DREAMS PROGRAM?

Jays Care Foundation will grant up to $150,000 per application Field of Dreams grants may be applied towards:

• The building of new infrastructure; • Improving existing spaces to increase programming capacity, overall usage, safety, accessibility and inclusiveness; and/or,

• The provision of capital investment in equipment.

FIELD OF DREAMS

WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO APPLY FOR FIELD OF DREAMS GRANTS?Field of Dreams applicants must meet a number of criteria in order to be eligible for consideration. All applicants must:

• be grassroots or charitable organizations;

• be building or refurbishing spaces within Canada;

• be able to complete the building/revitalization of the space within 12-18 months of receiving funding approval from Jays Care;

• be upgrading or building spaces specifically to support marginalized children and youth;

• be able to provide audited financial statements from last year (or, if not available, most recent financial statements);

• be able to provide quotes for all items included in the project’s budget (required during phase two of the application process); and,

• be able to provide applicable municipal and other permits where required.

WHAT TYPES OF PROJECTS ARE ELIGIBLE

FOR FUNDING?

All applications are thoroughly vetted using a vigorous scoring system. Some of the key criteria considered when assessing Field of Dreams applications include:

• Physical activity

• Demonstrated need

• Baseball

• Children with disabilities

• Children facing multiple barriers

• Community

• Number of children or youth impacted

• Frequency of impact

• Application quality

• Increase in impact

• Viable funding model
