FIELDDAYOBJECTIVES
Broad Objectives: To bring livestock owners together to carry out collective and collaborativediscussionswiththepurposeofinitiatingcommunityactioninsolvingcommunityproblems.
The theme of the day was ‘Sustainable Livestock and related Practices’. The following objectiveswerecovered:
1. Toidentifythemajorchallengeslivestockownersfaceinproduction,marketingandnutrition2. Tolearnthegoodpracticesofthehostfarmergroup3. Togenerateaplenarydiscussionandfindsolutionstothechallenges4. Experiencesharingandlessonlearningamonglivestockowners5. Gatherideasforabetterapproachforfutureimplementation6. Tolearnfromthesuccessesandgoodpracticesofotheranimalowners7. Togetnewideasandsolutionstoproduction,andmarketingchallenges8. Todiscusstheseideaswithotheranimalownersandstakeholders

FIELDVISITSANDEXPERIENCESHARINGAMONGFARMERSAn important activity in CLAPproject isOrganizing Farmer FieldDays togetherwith implementingpartner’s, stakeholdersandKuchi livestockowners.Thoseeventsgive themachance to showcasetheirachievements,suchasfieldexperiments,marketinnovations,practicesforsustainablelivestockproductionallrelevanttofoodsecurity,andpresentthemtofellowfarmersandotherstakeholders.The farmer field day was hosted by MAIL-DCA-CLAP Kuchi project. Livestock owners themselvestotaled 160 participants. All attended the field day held on the 28th August 2016:, The openingspeechwasmadebytherepresentativefromtheDistrictGovernorsoffice(CharAsyabDistrict),thiswas followed by a brief introduction and explanation of the Field day and project objectives ingeneralbyDr.FaraidonQaumitotheparticipants,whichincludedMAILandCLAP;
Stakeholder representatives, and other senior level officials participated in the field day. Somespeechesweredeliveredbyspecialguestsandparticipants.Anexperiencesharingsessionwasthenopenedbyaround13 livestockownersfromtheKuchicommunity. Individual livestockownersandfarmers explained their own experiences with fodder production and the challenges they faced,opportunities they saw, lessons they learned, and their views for future improvement in theimplementationofthesepractices.Theexperiencesandviewsoflivestockownerswhoparticipatedaresummarizedbelow.
