Historical fiction
Historical fiction is made up of stories that take place in a certain time and place in the past.
EX. A Boy at War, Across 5 Aprils, Ben and Me, The Butterfly, Charlie Skedaddle, Sign of Beaver, Titanic Crossing and Dear America Series
Realistic fiction
Realistic Fiction is made up of stories that could really happen. Contemporary realistic fiction is set in modern times.
EX. Because of Winn Dixie, Crash, Owl Moon, Shiloh, Summer of Swans and Babysitter Club Series
FOLKLORE
Folklores include stories, myths, and fables that people told one another over the years. Later the stories get written
down. EX. Aesop's Fables, Beauty and the Beast,
The Bunyans, Cinderella, John Henry, The Talking Eggs and The Tortoise and The
Hare
Fantasy
Fantasy includes fiction that has elements that are not real
Sometimes this includes talking animals or characters with magical powers
There's usually a conflict between good and evil
Poetry
Often uses rhymes In a manner that is felt by its user and
audience to differ from ordinary prose
Autobiography
Form of a nonfiction (true) Story of a real persons life Auto means self Bios means life Graph means to write Written by the person the story is about Author does not need to research Author shares how he/she feels and what
