President’s Signals
August 2016
Hello Everyone!
It’s HOT!!!! “Feels Like” temperatures over 100o every day! If you like hot weather
then this is your time of year! As for me, my favorite temperatures are 73o or less!
Air conditioning is the greatest invention ever! My first experience with A/C in an automobile was in 1972 when my Dad brought home a new Ford sedan. Every vehicle that I have owned since 1977 has been equipped with A/C. Fast forward to 2016 and I find that the A/C unit in my Corvette is not cooling correctly. When I start the car the A/C unit blows cold, but within a few minutes the air turns warm. I have tried changing the settings on the unit to no avail. Looks like its time for a visit to the dealer, sooner than later! I don’t bring this up to put down the car. In fact, this is the first time that I have ever had a problem with any of my Corvettes. This is my third Corvette and all have been the most reliable cars that I have ever owned. This is why I enjoy owning and driving my Corvette. There is no better sports car available on today’s market at any price! We are coming into the busiest time of the year. If you enjoy driving your Corvette on the track then Nola Motorsports Park has just what you need. They have Lite & Heavy Track Nights scheduled in August. These events include classroom training and multiple 20 minute track sessions, instructor lead on Lite nights. Dates for the Track Nite Lite are August 2 and August 30. Track Nite Heavy dates are August 3 and August 31. For more information go to www.nolamotorprts.com. Car Shows in the near future include Vettes at the Beach, in Pensacola (September), and Extravetteganza (October) . More info on these two shows can be found later in this newsletter. The details on the Texas Bar-b-que, Wine and Hill Country Tour (September 22-25) begin on page 16. Felix Famularo is working hard to make this an unforgettable Corvette experience! You can expect thrilling rides, smooth wine and fine BBQ dining on this trip. Make sure that you contact him and make your hotel reservations! The August Board meeting has been pushed back to August 8
th due to a health problem;
location to be announced. Enjoy your Corvettes!
Wave at ‘em. Wave even if they don’t wave back. They might not know any
better.

Corvette Racing Wins 100th! Corvette Racing scored its 100th ever win at in the IMSA WeatherTech Championship’s Northeast Grand Prix from Lime Rock
Saturday, an achievement that had been hanging over the team’s head since it scored its 99th victory in the Sebring 12 Hours
earlier this year.
In its 20 years of competition, the Corvette squad’s 100 wins have helped Chevy claim 10 manufacturer’s championships in GT
racing. Those 100 wins include eight at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, three at the Rolex 24 At Daytona and ten at the Mobil 1
Twelve Hours of Sebring. They also holds a record 10 team championships in the now-defunct American Le Mans Series.
Partners like Pratt & Miller, builders of the Corvette C5-R, C6.R and C7.R Pratt & Miller, have made it possible for Corvette
Racing to become one of the most successful GT teams in all of modern day motorsport. Like Pratt & Miller, Mobil 1 and
Exxon Mobil have been with Corvette Racing since it first began testing the C5-R in 1996 ahead of a competition debut in 1999
and have stuck with the team ever since.
Mobil 1 wished Corvette Racing a big congratulations on its 100th win with a short tribute video, which we’ve embedded
below. As a reminder, you can watch the team gun for its 101st win when the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship
heads to Road America for the Continental Tire Road Race Showcase on August 7th

This Electric Chevy Corvette Could
Break 200 MPH This Week
Later this week in central Florida,
an electric Chevy Corvette might set a
new world record for battery-powered
vehicles, potentially becoming the first
street-legal EV to crack through the 200 mph barrier.
The EV 'Vette in question is the same electric Chevy that currently holds the world top speed record for street-
legal electric cars—Genovation Cars's Corvette GXE, a heavily-modified C6 Z06 that's had its 7.0-liter V-8
yanked in favor of dual electric motors slapping down around 700-horsepower and 600-lb.-ft. of torque. That
current record, the company says, was set by accident; the electric carmaker was simply testing the car out, and
the GXE happened to blast past 186 mph in the process. This time, Genovation is actually going for gold.
“We think the car is fully capable of breaking 200mph,” Genovation Cars CEO Andrew Saul told Wired.
During the previous run back in February, the GXE wasn't even operating at full power, Saul said. Since then,
the Genovation team has pulled the car apart, cranked up the output of the dual liquid-cooled motors, and
tweaked it in myriad ways to better optimize it for high-speed running.
Just as during the car's first record run, Genovation will be running the GXE at Cape Canaveral's Johnny
Bohmer Proving Grounds, blasting the black Corvette down the same three-mile runway the space shuttle used
to land on before America abandoned space travel to Elon Musk and the Russians. And just as last time, Johnny
Bohmer himself will be handling wheelman duties. Considering he's blasted cars from a dead stop to more than
280 mph in a mile before, hitting 200 on a three-mile runway should be a cinch.
In case you're interested in plugging in one of these Genovation Corvette GXEs in your driveway, the company
says it will soon be bringing similar electrically-converted gas-powered sports cars to market for the low, low
price of roughly $330,000. Yes, you could have three loaded Tesla Model Ss for that money, but if that's where
your mind goes, you're missing the point.
