2017 was a year of major gains for working families in California: a transportation package that will create good jobs by repairing
infrastructure, more investments in affordable housing, and an unprecedented victory
against the pharmaceutical companies.
But we cannot afford to rest. Today, our members face threats from the corporations, the
Congress, and the courts. They want to take away our voice and keep workers from standing
together to improve working conditions. They are giving massive corporate tax breaks paid for by
hard-working Americans. They are coming after our health care, our retirement, and our
basic rights.
California Labor will not be silenced. We will not stand by as Congress rolls back worker safety
protections, risking workers lives. We will not stand by as corporate interests attack CEQA and
other environmental laws, exposing our communities to more pollutants. We will not stand by as
women in every industry face not only unequal pay, but also widespread sexual harassment. And
we will not stand by as ICE raids our workplaces and deports parents working hard to provide for
their families.
The scorecard is about standing up for what we believe in, showing leadership in hard times, and
taking up the charge to fight for workers’ rights at every opportunity. We salute those fighters who
stood with workers 100% of the time and we look forward to fighting alongside you all in 2018.
In Solidarity,
ART PULASKI
