The Falcon-M is a highly integrated, high performance, small cell aggregator and cell site gateway for mobile backhauling applications. This product extensively supports the requirements of small and macro cell deployments, from power delivery (PoE), through traffic aggregation and management and up to content and applications optimization. The Falcon-M’s unique Dual Hybrid Core architecture (DHC) supports remote Data Plane Upgrades (DPU) to allow modification and addition of packet processing functions that require full wire speed performance that cannot be handled in SW. This advanced architecture is further extended by the Falcon-M’s expansion slot that can provide additional processing capabilities, such as content and application acceleration (via the CAM module). The system is capable of performing as an MPLS-TP Label Switching or Edge Router, to allow more flexibility in fitting into existing and new network architectures. The Falcon-M provides complete high precision timing support through Synchronous Ethernet and 1588-2008 required in LTE networks. These, combined with an integrated GPS receiver and additional sync inputs and outputs, allow maximum flexibility in synchronization. The Falcon-M is a highly integrated, high performance,

The Falcon-M models are equipped with

4x10/100/1000BaseT (RJ45) user ports, 4xSFP user ports,

and 2xSFP PowerLink ports acting as NNIs. The user ports

can be used in a flexible manner and can all operate at full

wire speed. This leads to a total processing capacity of

20Gbps (non-blocking). The system’s Copper interfaces

support PoE+ for powering small cells and Microwave and

Millimeter wave devices.

All MEF CE2.0 defined services (EPL, EVPL, ELAN, etc) can

be delivered with the Falcon-M series and can further be

protected through use of high performance mechanisms,

based on G.8031 and G.8032v2, for link, path, and ring

resilience.

The Falcon-M offers advanced Quality of Service (QoS)

features including classification and mapping based on

layer 1 through layer 4 attributes, rate limiting, and

shaping per port, queue, and service.

The system implements current OAM standards (802.3ah,

802.1ag, Y.1731) with HW assist as well as proactive

measurements and alarming facilities. To complete the

OAM toolset, the Falcon-M has a built in packet generator

and analyzer to implement RFC2544/Y.1564 for quick

service turn-up and verification. It also supports Fibrolan’s

unique Micro-Burst Detection (MBD) technology for

microsecond granular SLA monitoring, allowing detection,

alerting, and reporting nearly invisible traffic anomalies,

which is essential in highly QoS-sensitive applications,

such as financial, healthcare, etc.

An expansion slot is integrated in the system for future

applications and enhancement, with full wire speed

backplane capacity. Expansion modules include, among

others, the Content Acceleration Module that provides

content caching, acceleration and optimization.

The Falcon-M is housed in a highly compact, 19”, 1RU

chassis (250mm deep only), and has a dual, redundant

and hot-swappable, wide range AC or DC power supply.
