Once you completed a mission, you can return to the Cie'th stone and retry the mission. This can give you another chance to 5-star it, and it will usually give you nice items in return. 5-starring every mission gives you a trophy or achievement. Once you accepted a mission, go to the in-game Map to see the target's location. It is indicated by a pink star. The marks in these trials are not to be taken easy. Best to wait until yourparty is leveled up sufficiently before trying this. Strategies on these markscan be found in the next chapter along with the other missions. Here is an overview of the paths you can take:

When you complete mission 12, the Font of Namva area unlocks. In that areaare the chocobo's. When you complete mission 14 you get Gysahl Reins andchocobo's will start appearing in the Archylte Steppe. They are respresentedby yellow feathers on the map. In the Font of Namva, there is also a tiny chocobo that flies around at thepool of water. You can track its course and interact with it to receive aChocobo Plume or Chocobo Tail Feather.

When you get a chocobo, you will be able to reach a lot more places. You cantravel faster, jump higher and still be able to interact with Save Stations,Cie'th Stones and Treasure Spheres. But you wont be able to enter a battle.Instead, when you touch an enemy, one of the 3 yellow feathers at the bottomof the screen will disappear. They will replenish but if they disappear toquickly the Chocobo will run away. You can also only ride these chocobo'swhile on the Archylte Steppe.

O<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>O | 2b) Chocobo Treausure Hunting | O<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>O

When you ride a chocobo you can look for treasures buried on the ArchylteSteppe. There are 20 locations that can contain treasures, but only 5of these are selected randomly at a time. Every time you re-enter the area, these treasure locations are reset.

The Chocobo will notify you with a big exclamation mark that jumps up

Page 20: FF13 Mission Walk Through

and down when you are near buried treasure. The faster this exclamation markjumps up and down the closer you are to the treasure. The treasures are onlyburied in brown soil, never on the grassy areas. Once you are close enough tothe treasure you can dig it up by pressing X/A. You can find treasure thisway, that you cannot get anywhere else. To help you, the Chocobo will alwayslook in the direction the treasure is buried.

There are 2 types of treasure that you can find on the Archylte Steppe. The "Infinite Treasure List" indicates treasure that are limitless. Meaningyou can find these treasure at all times. There is a percentage next to itindicating the probability of finding the treasure. The "Milestone Treasure List" will indicate the fixed treasures you find. Italso indicates how often you need to dig for treasure in order to get thetreasure listed.

In Aggra's Pasture, an area that can only be reached with a Chocobo, you can

find a flock of Sheep. From the biggest sheep you can aquire a tuft of Fluffy Wool. There are more of these sheep to be found all around the ArchylteSteppe. Depending on the weather conditions, they will give you Thick Wool,Fluffy Wool, Rough Wool or Scraggly Wool. Only the Grown Sheep will give youthese components. Weather conditions can be changed by touching certainCie'th Stones.

Grown Sheep do not always appear. Re-enter the area to reset the opportunityto receive wool. They are randomly found at the following locations:

<> Southeastern Pond: On one of the small islands.<> On top of a hill southwest of the pond.<> On the right-hand side near the entrance to Aggra's Trough.<> Inside the ruined building in the far north of The Haerii Archaeopolis.

Mission 13: Eternity Unpromised

Rank: CMark: Goblin ChieftainCie'th Stone location: Archylte Steppe – Central ExpanseMark location: Archylte Steppe – Northern HighplainReward: Cobaltite

By this point you’ve seen a bunch of Goblins scooting about Pulse, and the Goblin Chieftain is essentially just like them… only about twice the size. He’s also got his minions in tow. The Goblins have some skills that the Munchkins don’t: the power-boosting Goblinhancement buff and the damaging Goblin Punch. A Saboteur might even the odds for a while, but it’s probably more practical to simply aim to kill them as quickly as possible.

Mission 14: Defender of the Flock

Page 26: FF13 Mission Walk Through

Rank: CMark: SahaginCie'th Stone location: Archylte Steppe – Western BenchlandMark location: Archylte Steppe – Font of Namva  Reward: Gysahl Reins

Not a terribly difficult battle, but a pretty significant one. Sahagins come in a group with other water-affiliated foes, and thus are weak to fire and thunder attacks. Set up your defense and offense accordingly and it shouldn’t be too tough to complete.

This is one of the most important missions to take on if you’re aiming to hit all 64 marks. Why? Because victory gives you the ability to ride Chocobos in the field, that’s why! In order to access certain missions, you’ll need the Chocobos’ ability to ascend to high ledges that your party can’t reach. Don’t worry, you won’t need Chocobo assistance all the time -  most of the Chocobo-aided areas also have teleports you can open inside them – but the speed and enemy-dodging skills of these feathered friends make them a huge boon to hunting in general.

Mission 15: Tribal Warfare

Page 27: FF13 Mission Walk Through

Rank: CMark: Goblin ChieftainCie'th Stone location: Archylte Steppe – Central ExpanseMark Location: Archylte Steppe – Northern HighplainReward: Survivalist's Catalog

Again? Yup, again. And so soon, too! There really isn’t much different this time around, either, except that the cannon-fodder Goblins are more numerous. The key the victory here is simply making sure they don’t gang up and overwhelm you. Call in your medics as need arises.

Mission 16: Surrogate Slayer

Rank: BMark: Sahagin

Page 28: FF13 Mission Walk Through

Cie'th Stone location: Archylte Steppe – Eastern TorsMark location: Archylte Steppe – Font of Namva Reward: Rhodochrosite

These vicious fish didn’t get the memo that harassing Chocobos is a bad idea, so it’s up to you to beat another round of sense into them. The pack is a bit more numerous this time around, and they can gang up and deplete your health quickly if you aren’t careful. If you keep to the same strategy as before, however, you should again emerge victorious.

Mission 17: A Widow’s Wrath

Rank: BMark: Pulsework ChampionCie'th Stone location: Archylte Steppe – Northern Highplain (Waystone)Mark location: Archylte Steppe – Northern HighplainReward: Perfect Conductor (x3)

The Pulsework Champion has some incredibly solid defenses, being immune to almost all magic and resistant to physical attacks. Fortunately, he’s got a low percentage needed to stagger, so that’s what you’ll need to do in order to start landing significant damage. Send your commandos into the fray and keep wailing on him until he cracks. While magic won’t damage him, it will help up its percentage, so it might not hurt to Ravage him as well.

Mission 18: Name: So Close, Yet So Far

Page 29: FF13 Mission Walk Through

Rank: CMark: Ambling BellowsCie'th Stone location: Mah'habara – Twilit Cavern (Waystone)Mark location: Mah'habara – Twilit CavernReward: Sorcerer's Mark

It’s a Robot dance-off! Ambling Bellows is still the crazed accordion you knew, loved, and conquered, and the backup crew are the same robot foes you’ve been taking on so far within this particular dungeon. By this point you already have some solid strategies against all of these rebellious robots. Just keep an eye on your HP as you would normally for any fight against a large pack.

Mission 19: Triangle of Tragedy

Rank: C

Page 30: FF13 Mission Walk Through

Mark: UridimmuCie'th Stone location: Sulyya Springs – Ceiling of Sky (Waystone)Mark location: Sulyya Springs – Subterranean LakeReward: Cobaltite

You’ve fought Uridimmu before, but last time, he had a bunch of lower-level buddies as backup. This time, you’ll be taking on three of these ugly pack leaders at once. Still, these ugly kitties shouldn’t pose too big of a threat to your team. Follow a similar strategy as you did before and you should be able to triumph again without much hassle.

Mission 20: Words Unspoken

Mark: Goblin ChieftainRank: CCie'th Stone location: Taejin's Tower – The PalisadesMark location: Taejin's Tower – The Palisades  Reward: Rhodochrosite

Are two heads better than one? Perhaps so, if you’re thinking like the Goblin higher-ups. For this fight, you’ll be taking on both the Munchkin Maestro and the Goblin Chieftain as a pair. And – as usual – they’ve got their posses in tow. By this point, you should have fought these guys enough to know their quirks, so keep your past encounters in mind and show no mercy.

Mission 21-26 done one taejin’s tower

Mission 27: Mithridates, the Lone

Page 31: FF13 Mission Walk Through

Rank: BMark: MithridatesCie'th Stone location: Taejin's Tower – The Cloven SpireMark location: Taejin's Tower – Ground TierReward: Blaze Ring

This where things get a lot harder. Mithridates is the “hidden” hunt of the Tower – in order to encounter it, you’ll need to defeat all the other marks and set up the central elevator so that it can run from the tower apex to the bottom floor. Once that’s taken care of, run the elevator from the top to the bottom and you’ll encounter Mithridates immediately upon stepping outside.

Mithridates is tough, to boot. He’s nearly impossible to stagger and can hit you with poison, numerous debuffs, and some very damaging spell attacks. A Synergist is must to have on hand for at least part of this fight to counter its debuffs, and a Medic or two are essential.  You’ll want to Paradigm Shift regularly between focusing on recovery and attacking once your team can withstand a few more of Mithradates’s enchantments. He’s weak to Fire, Wind, Ice, and Water elements, so keep those spells coming – just don’t go too deep into the red, because he can easily go in for the kill.

Mission 28: Faded Glory

Page 32: FF13 Mission Walk Through

Rank: CMark: CeratosaurCie'th Stone location: Oerba – Village Proper (Waystone)Mark location: Oerba – Village ProperReward: Giant's Glove

Ceratosaurs aren’t terribly difficult enemies – they’re weak to Fire and Earth and don’t have too much HP, though staggering them’s a little tough. Still, there are a lot of them here, so use spells and strikes with a large area of effect to hit as many of them at once as you can.

Mission 29: Faltering Faith

Rank: BMark: Juggernaut

Page 33: FF13 Mission Walk Through

Cie'th Stone location: Mah'habara – Maw of the AbyssMark location: Taejin's Tower – The PalisadesReward: Uraninite

You’ll essentially have to fight the Juggernaut twice for this mission: once to access the Cie'th stone (it’s guarded by a tough enemy similar to the mark), and once to actually complete the mission. The Juggernaut has heavy defenses and hits hard with fire attacks, so be sure to have a Synergist on hand to set up appropriate elemental protection. Fortunately, its stagger percentage is pretty low. Commando skills won’t work too well initially, so get your Ravagers in, stagger him, then Shift back in a melee attacker or two to go in for the launcher.

Mission 30: Syphax, the Insidious

Rank: BMark: SyphaxCie'th Stone location: Archylte Steppe – The Haerii Oldroad (near the ring of Cie'th Stones)Mark location: Mah'habara – Abandoned Dig

Another red barrier mission. You can only access the area where this mission sits on Chocobo-back – and there are many other fights, including the Titan quests, lying just behind this barrier. But you’ll have to tread back to Mah'habara first… and trek a long ways in to find Syphax’s lair.

This can be a hard fight – not due to any inherent strength of the enemies (they’re pretty weak), but because there are just so damn many of them – and they keep on coming! You’ll have to fell over thirty or forty of the smaller bat-like beasties before Syphax will even turn up, and they are proof that strength lies

Page 34: FF13 Mission Walk Through

in numbers. Keep a Medic on hand to make sure they don’t suck out too much of your HP. Syphax will reveal itself once enough of its underlings have been decimated, and while he has a decent-sized HP buffer, he also had a fairly low stagger percentage and a weakness to wind elemental attacks.

Mission 31: Newfound Purpose

Rank:  BMark: Pulsework ChampionCie'th Stone location:  Archylte Steppe – Haerii Archaeopolis (Waystone)Mark Location: Archylte Steppe – Haerii ArchaeopolisReward: Perfect Conductor (x3)

Pulsework Champion returns with a gang of floppy Seeker enemies serving as backup. You’ve likely encountered both of these foes before so you should know what to expect from them.  They can put some hurt on you if you don’t pay attention, however, so don’t be afraid to Paradigm Shift if things don’t go as planned.

Mission 32: And Then There Was One

Page 35: FF13 Mission Walk Through

Rank: BMark: AmamCie'th Stone location: Vallis Media – Earthen BosomMark location: Archylte Steppe – Western BenchlandReward: Glass Buckle

Amam is the evolution of Uridimmu and its ilk. He’s got a higher HP and stagger percentage, but for the most part he’s very similar in looks and attacks to the other feral foes you’ve felled to this point. He has a breath attack that will lower the attack power of your party, so you might consider a Synergist to offset the status drop. Beyond that, hit him with Ice and Earth elemental spells (avoid Wind and Thunder), juggle him when you get a chance, and don’t let his fairly forceful strikes deplete your health too far.

Mission 33: A Parent’s Pledge

Page 36: FF13 Mission Walk Through

Rank: BMark: AdamanchelidCie'th Stone location: Archylte Steppe – Central ExpanseMark location: Archylte Steppe – Eastern TorsReward: White Cape

Adamanchelid isn’t as fierce as its older Adamantoise relatives, but it can still lay down a world of hurt on your party. You’ll definitely want to buff up as much as you can before going in for the kill, so set a Synergist to up your defenses from the start of battle (and Medics to back you up while you do – a Sentinel wouldn’t hurt either) or make use of a Shroud or two. It’s weak to Ice spells and strong against physical strikes, but it’s also vulnerable to a lot of Saboteur-induced inflictions. Once your defenses are fortified and the foe’s are debilitated, start going in for a more focused attack.

Mission 34: Zenobia, the Butcher

Rank: BMark: TonberryCie'th Stone location: Archylte Steppe – Way of the AncientsMark location: Archylte Steppe – Haerii ArchaeopolisReward: Hermes Sandals

This red Cie’th stone mark is exceptionally tricky. You’re allegedly out to kill a tentacled terror named Zenobia, but someone’s already got the job handled. Unfortunately for you, he’s far worse than Zenobia ever was.

Tonberry is small but very, very vicious. His knife strikes are rather infrequent but do a decent amount of damage, however; the real threat is his Grudge attacks. As the battle wears on, Tonberry’s rage will begin

Page 37: FF13 Mission Walk Through

to seethe, and once it reaches a certain point, he’ll release an attack that hits for a few thousand points worth of damage, recovers all of his health, and resets his combo percentage. Worse yet, every time he uses the attack, the power increases dramatically. Even if you survive the first time, you likely won’t last the second or third time.

The key here is simply to stagger Tonberry as fast as possible and get him in a series of juggles that will drain his HP fast and prevent him from using the Grudge skills. Don’t even worry about buffs of healing unless absolutely necessary, simply hit fast and hard until you’ve got him launched high in the sky. If you even let him get off one Grudge/full HP restore, it’s going to be extremely difficult to recover and beat him.

Mission 35: The Road Less Traveled (Titan Quest A-1)

Rank: CMark: GurangatchCie'th Stone location: Faultwarrens – Truthseeker's RiseMark location: Faultwarrens – Primeval CrossroadsReward: Witch's Bracelet

Gurangatch is the first of the Titan Quests, a branching series of battles presented by the Titan himself and ending in one of six tough matchups. He’s very much the same foe as back in Taejin's Tower, so keep to the same strategy and you should emerge victorious. Make sure you remember how to beat him, because you’ll be starting off with this fighter each time you go down one of Titan’s questing paths.

Mission 36: Dark Deliverance (Titan Quest B-1)

Rank: CMark: AmamCie'th Stone location: Faultwarrens – Primeval CrossroadsMark location: Faultwarrens – A Dance of ShadowReward: Uraninite

There’s two Amams this time around. They can still hit pretty hard, so watch your HP – but this still shouldn’t be too much more challenging than your last Amam face-off.

Mission 37: Dying of the Light (Titan Quest B-2)

Page 38: FF13 Mission Walk Through

Rank:  CMark: RafflesiaCie'th Stone location: Faultwarrens – Primeval CrossroadsMark location: Faultwarrens – A Dance of LightReward: Star Pendant

Rafflesia are very easily ambushed, making for a pretty simple fight if you get the jump on them. They’re weak to Fire and Earth, so use your spells as needed to bury these fiendish flowers.

Mission 38: Moonlit Madness (Titan Quest C-1)

Rank: BMark: VerdeletCie'th Stone location: Faultwarrens – A Dance of ShadowMark location: Faultwarrens – Via LunaeReward: Diamond Bangle

Hey, remember the Adroa? The Verdelet are very closely related, but they have an additional trick up their sleeve – they can summon much bigger things to help them fight. There’s usually one Verdelet doing the summoning while the others attack as attack decoys. Verdelets have low HP, so a few strikes from a strong Commando should kill off one of them. The difficulty arises in distinguishing and attacking the summoner in time – even if you hit him hard, he’s not going to stop calling for backup until he’s dead and buried.

If you kill off the summoner before he finishes, you’re almost guaranteed a five star ranking. If you fail and Juggernaut joins the fray, well, just follow the strategies you employed last time you saw him around.

Mission 39: Seeing Stars (Titan Quest C-2)

Rank: CMark: OchuCie'th Stone location: Faultwarrens – A Dance of Shadow/A Dance of LightMark location: Faultwarrens – Via StellarumReward: Siltstone Ring

Don’t let that “C” rank fool you – Ochu is pretty nasty. She’s got a healthy amount of HP, a high stagger percentage, and is backed up by obnoxious little seedlings than she can heal and regenerate. She’s also

Page 39: FF13 Mission Walk Through

got some pretty hard-hitting attacks that can interrupt whatever your party members are doing. Fortunately, the whole family’s weak to Fire spells, so fire attacks will make the whole clan extra toasty. And despite the annoying, constant attacks of her “babies,” you should make Ochu herself your prime target of attack: she’s the one regenerating and boosting the little buggers, after all.

Mission 40: Solar Power (Titan Quest C-3)

Rank: BMark: VerdeletCie'th Stone location: Faultwarrens – A Dance of LightMark location: Faultwarrens – Via SolisReward: Zealot's Amulet

Much the same as the previous Verdelet mob, only they’ll be summoning Mushussu this time around. Kill the summoner first thing and the team won’t know what hit ‘em.

Mission 41: Gaian Grudge (Titan Quest D-1)

Rank: AMark: Tonberry TrioCie'th Stone location: Faultwarrens – Via LunaeMark location: Faultwarrens – Gaian PathReward: Doctor's Code

Mission 41 is where the Cie'th Stone missions officially jump the shark from "mildly challenging diversions" to "weep softly against the controller as you die yet again." For Quest D-1, you'll be taking on three Grudge-filled Tonberries simultaneously. Even if you're on your second playthrough, this one's gonna be really hard.

The best strategies are putting the Tonberries at a disadvantage: either carefully creep up on the patch of land they patrol to get the jump on them with a preemptive strike (a difficult, though not impossible, task), or get a Saboteur in there to hit them with status afflictions like Slow and Poison.

If you manage to get a preemptive strike, you can use a move like Quake to stagger all three at once, and then call a Summon like Odin into the battlefield to take advantage of their weakened state. If you can't pull that off, then you're probably in for a pretty long – and very difficult – battle. Good luck – you will need it.

Mission 42: Antihero (Titan Quest D-2)

Page 40: FF13 Mission Walk Through

Rank: BMark: Borgbear HeroCie'th Stone location: Faultwarrens – Via Lunae/Via StellarumMark location: Faultwarrens – Salamandrine PathReward: Witch's Bracelet

Borgbear Hero operates in much the same way as the other large-scale Goblin leaders. He fights with a bunch of lackeys, hoping to overwhelm you with constant attacks and buffs. He still isn't a terribly troublesome mark – though he has the highest HP of any of the goblin marks, he still has a fairly low percentage needed to stagger and weaknesses to both fire and earth magic.

Mission 43: The Hero Never Dies (Titan Quest D-3)

Rank: BMark: Borgbear HeroCie'th Stone location: Faultwarrens – Via Stellarum/Via SolisMark location: Faultwarrens – Sylphid PathReward: Speed Sash

Back so soon? But this time all three of the Goblin Chiefs of Staff, along with their underlings, are here for a beatdown. Put all of your goblin-gutting experience to work while keeping your team healthy and you can pull this one off without too much trouble.

Mission 44: The Old Ones Go to Rust (Titan Quest D-4)

Rank: AMark: Corrosive CustardCie'th Stone location: Faultwarrens – Via SolisMark location: Faultwarrens – Nereid PathReward: General's Belt

Corrosive Custard is a pretty tricksy sack of goo, and worse yet, it's traveling with two other hideously oversized flans. Its buddies aren't too hard by themselves (you've likely encountered them in the fields already), but when all three are together, they can triple-team you pretty hard. Take them out one at a time, and go for the weaker pals before turning your attention to Corrosive Custard itself. His weak point is Thunder elemental spells, so have your Ravagers take turns building up combos while Medics tend to whatever damage the group deals.

Mission 45: Emergent Evolution (Titan Quest E-1)

Rank: AMark: NeochuCie'th Stone location: Faultwarrens – Gaian PathMark location: Faultwarrens – Titan's ThoneReward: Hunter's Friend

Think of Neochu as Ochu's incredibly bitchy and controlling mother-in-law. She's old, cranky, and hates you out of principle. But in her old age, she's grown a bit weak: she is actually vulnerable to Vanille's Death spell. The odds are low, however, but there are numerous ways you can boost it. It's a pretty tedious fight if you go this route: have someone constantly healing while Vanille keeps on casting until it works, which could be whenever. Otherwise, use Earth spells for maximum damage potential and keep everyone well buffed to survive her fierce attacks.

Mission 46: On Silent Wings (Titan Quest E-2)

Rank: AMark: ZirnitraCie'th Stone location: Faultwarrens – Salamandrine PathMark location: Faultwarrens – Titan's ThoneReward: Gilgamesh Inc

Zirnitra is a right two-faced bastard, hitting hard, afflicting you with Poison, and absorbing a lot of the spells you might attempt to throw at it. You'll want to first focus on evening the odds with a Medic to keep everyone healthy and a Saboteur to negate some of his defenses and slow him down. Switch to a Synergist role to increase your abilities once you've managed to hold him off for a while (a Sentinel helps greatly with this).  He only takes 180% to Stagger, but getting him to that point with your party still alive is the challenge – once you've got everyone boosted and saddled him with a few downgrades, set a pair of your party on the offense and keep one in the background for healing duty. This won't be the last encounter with Zirnitra, and it won't get any easier, either.

Mission 47:  Unfocused Rage (Titan Quest E-3)

Rank:  AMark: RaktavijaCie'th Stone location: Faultwarrens – Salamandrine Path

Page 42: FF13 Mission Walk Through

Mark location: Faultwarrens – Titan's ThroneReward: Mnar Stone

Raktivija is similar in form and function to Vetala, but much more powerful. Again, your goal here is to shatter its defenses with a stagger and then go in hitting as hard as you can. Raktavija is a very capable spellcaster, however, and is capable of doing a huge amount of magic damage very quickly. Buff your magic defenses up and keep a Medic on hand to keep your HP out of the red. A few Saboteur debuffs will aid in slowing Raktavija's spell bursts as well as open it to a bit more damage.

Mission 48: The Abyss Stares Back (Titan Quest E-4)

Rank: AMark: VerdeletCie'th Stone location: Faultwarrens – Sylphid PathMark location: Faultwarrens – Titan's ThroneReward: Twenty-Sided Die

Much like the other Verdelet hunts, if you can take out the Summoner quickly, it's pretty smooth sailing. The beast they'll be attempting to call upon this time is our old pal Tonberry again. If he does show up, follow the same strategy as your initial encounter, going for all-out offense above all else.

Mission 49: Tyrannicide (Titan Quest E-5)

Rank: AMark: TyrantCie'th Stone location: Faultwarrens – Sylphid PathMark location: Faultwarrens – Titan's ThroneReward: Particle Accelerator (x7)

With a name like Tyrant, this guy had better be tough. Tyrant's an interesting piece of machinery with the ability to call forth separate foes into the fight to attack you. If he brings one of these backup units into battle, take care of them first before focusing your attention on the big guy – otherwise, they can be very troublesome. His weaknesses are Thunder and Water, and his Stagger percentile is only 150%. Once you've buffed up and taken care of any of his auxiliary annoyances, you can safely head on in for the kill.

Mission 50: Road to Predation (Titan Quest E-6)

Page 43: FF13 Mission Walk Through

Rank: AMark: HumbabaCie'th Stone location: Faultwarrens – Nereid PathMark location: Faultwarrens – Titan's ThroneReward: Scarletite

Finally, the last of Titan's special fights! Humbaba is another Behemoth-like enemy, and like his kin, he has two ways of fighting: on all four legs and on his haunches. Once he sits up (usually when his HP drops below about 1/4), he'll restore all of his health and gain stronger attacks. Fire is his weakness, so get your Ravagers ready to burn him to the ground. Don't expect to stagger him easily, though – with an 800% percentile, he's got some very thick skin. Still, his counter won't reset when he sits up and restores his health (unlike Tonberry) so a stagger certainly isn't impossible.

Mission 61: I, Juggernaut

Rank: AMark: JuggernautCie'th Stone location: Archylte Steppe – Eastern Tors (stone circle)

Page 44: FF13 Mission Walk Through

Mark location: Oerba – Village ProperReward: Royal Armlet

No one can stop the Juggernaut – except for your party. And really, he’s not too much different from your last few encounters – he doesn’t even have any backup to throw a wrench into things. Your previous strategies will work fine.

Mission 62: Indomitable Will

Rank: AMark: RaktavijaStone Location: Archylte Steppe – Eastern Tors (stone circle)Mark Location: Archylte Steppe – Central ExpanseReward: Genji Glove

You’ll need a Chocobo to get up to the high platform where you’ll be fighting. Put your Shrouds on and set your Saboteurs to Slow, because this is going to be one very, very tough fight.

Raktavija is pretty tough by itself, but now you’ve got a pair of them to deal with, and they can put extreme hurt on your party very, very quickly. You’ll want to Slow and otherwise debilitate the pair as much as possible from the get-go in order to make things ever so slightly easier. From there, focus your attacks on them one at a time, working to break their defenses as best you can. Since they can inflict such a heavy amount of damage in such a short amount of time, you’ll want to either have a Medic around constantly or be constantly prepared to shift one (or two) in at a moment’s notice.

This is one that you will likely have to try several times, as even a minor mistake can leave you very dead. This is another prime candidate to save for the postgame runthrough – though it’ll still be a rough battle.

Page 45: FF13 Mission Walk Through

Mission 63: Crushed by Doubt

Rank: AMark: AdamantoiseCie'th Stone location: Sulyya Springs – Subterranean LakeMark location: Archylte Steppe – Eastern TorsReward: Genji Glove

From the moment you see what your mark is, you should know that this fight is going to be very, very painful.  You’ve no doubt tried to kill Adamantoises in the field by now, only to get crushed like a pancake. Well, you’re still pretty likely to get crushed, unless you act very, very quickly.

Summons are generally only really useful in specific situations, and this is one of them. Bring down your beast from the heavens, swap it into Gestalt mode, and then use its strongest attack to knock Adamantoise to the ground.  Quickly put some buffs and debuffs on your team using Synergists and Saboteurs, but don’t waste too much time with them – just throw Haste and a few attack buffs on – and then go to town. Once you’ve Staggered him, the fight will be much easier. Just pray you can off it before it manages to get up… which is easier said than done. However, another thing to note is that, like Neochu, he’s vulnerable to Vanille’s Death technique. It’s easier to take him out this way once he’s down and had a few debuffs stacked on him, but you’re still going to have to rely heavily on luck this way.

Mission 64: The Doomherald

Page 46: FF13 Mission Walk Through

Rank: AMark: VercigetorixCie'th Stone location: Oerba – Rust-eaten BridgeMark location: Yaschas Massif – Paddraean ArchaeopolisReward: Gold Watch

This is it, guys – the last mark of the game. You can either do this the easy way, or the very hard way.

The easy way is to simply poison him and tank, waiting for his HP to dry up. This won’t get you five stars, but it will get you the victory and the Trophies/Achievements. If you’re up for “playing cheap,” then this is the way to go.

If you’re planning to tough it out, well, it’s gonna be a rough ride. With over 15 million HP and resistances to almost everything, you’re going to be spending a lot of time just chipping away, trying to Stagger him when the opportunity arises, Paradigm Shifting into defensive formations whenever necessary to recuperate. He has one particularly vicious attack that can slaughter you outright – if you see it coming, switch everyone into Sentinel mode and you’ll lessen the damage by a great deal. Be constantly aware of your party’s status and be ready to swap Paradigms immediately if things start looking bad. Again, patience and perseverance are a must – but once you beat this challenging foe, it will be one very sweet victory.
