They will be taught how to care for these plants, watering them, making sure they get plenty of sunshine and ensuring there is good quality soil. The children will learn that all these are gifts from God and should be respected and cared for as the Prophet (PBUH) would have done. “Honey is a remedy for every illness and the Quran is a remedy for all illness of the mind, therefore I recommend to you both remedies, the Quran and honey.” [Bukhari] We are excited to announce the introduction of our Sunnah Snack Shack. People Who Help Us

“…Help each other to goodness and heedfulness. Do not help each other to wrongdoing and enmity.” [Surat al-Ma'ida: 2]

During the second half of the Spring Term the children have been learning about our community and the range of people who help us. The children were given the opportunity to familiarise themselves with different agencies we have available to us. This included the Fire Service, Doctors, Nurses and Police Officers, who visited the school and talked to our children about how they help us. The children began their topic by focusing on the role of a doctor and read the story ‘Topsy goes to the doctor’. From this the children innovated the story to create a character who had a different illness. By the end of the topic our children were inspired to become part of the ‘People who help us’.

Year 4 visit to Blackburn Cathedral

Our Year 4 children visited Blackburn’s beautiful Cathedral as part of their RE Curriculum. The children learnt about the features of the Cathedral and how these are significant within the Christian religion. During their visit, the children were able to look at some artefacts and learn about Christianity, which allowed them to compare similarities between this faith and their own.

OLIVE SCOUTS During the last few months, weekends at the school have been enriched full of Scout’ful activities! From life skills to planting to a fun-tastic themed Science week, the children worked to contribute towards developing their full physical, intellectual, social and spiritual potentials as individuals. Earlier in the term, the budding Scouters were sworn into the Scouting Family during the Investiture ceremony. The children read out their Scout Promise and were presented with their neckers in front of an audience of proud parents and supporters. The children have also taken part in the Easter Extravaganza hosted in Bowley. This was filled with fun, games an Easter Egg competition and plenty of smiles! Every Scout activity is exciting but a particular one was when the Olive Scouts were invited to take part in interviews with Sky News, explaining what made a good Scout Leader and encouraging others to join the Scouting family! But of course, no Scout activity is complete without some fun, so our children (and some of the grown-ups!) worked in teams to climb crates! Well done to Zayd Ashif and Zafreen Mohmed for climbing up the most crates!
